I purchased drip strip and this product works. I had to make some simple modifications due to the gutter positioning. I would highly recommend this product. You did a Great job on your product. Thank you.

You can also get flat coil stock/ metal and just put it under the drip edge and cut it around the bar hangers into tbe back of the gutter.

Yes I agree I bought myself a slitter to cut aluminum strips just for that purpose D Edge should not be used on an eve and it is made for Gable ends gutter apron should be used the gutter should be slid up underneath the apron and then the hangers installed when you get to the downspout and if gutter apron is short use your aluminum strip for counter flashing

Can this be used with a low pitch roof that has an EPDM membrane, rather than asphalt shingles?
@curiousgeorge27493 жыл бұрын
can you show what the best way to connect two or more pieces together- is there any nailing and what is the allowance between the fascia snd gutter that will work best.

My new gutters don't have that back lip..mine are flat against the fescia with a bit of wave action..due to the fescia being crooked? Hmm

@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
is the window drip cap you refer to bend out at a 90* angle? if it does it wont work as good being the water will carry along the flat part and leach out at the over lap...ive seen it happen!!! thx though for your input!!

@@dripstrip1889 If you look at ebay the product info about how much is at the bottom of the page and you do not see it if you do not scroll down to the end of the page, past other products. That is what threw me off.

Unfortunately, for your business, this same product can be made with a roll of flashing and a seamer. In fact I had to do just that this week. Your advantage is having it made and ready to go. I hope to see this in the big box stores, for your sake.
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your concern of my business. I can assure you I will be fine despite the concerns you have. The advantage is have a product that is pre formed yes but also maintaining a consistent profile trough the rollforming process. This insures a perfect overlap. Most importantly giving a homeowner the ability to fix a problem on their own. Lets face it contractors for the most part are extremely incompetent. This is obvious because if they weren't this problem wouldn't exist in the first place but it does. Instead of having to get the run around by another idiot who is out to scam money from whoever they can, a homeowner can now fix the problem their self. Thx

Does it just snap in under the drip edge? Is it necessary to nail in? And does it effect the gutter guard?
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
it slides behind the drip edge...depending on the situation a fastener may be needed....if its a snug fit and you need to use effort to remove it you shouldn't need a fastener if it wants fall out then yes use a soffit nail or zip screw. it should have no affect on the gutter guard
@myhealthtoo7 жыл бұрын
But cant you use a modify drip edge my problem is the water is not collecting in the gutter passes over and down to ground
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
If the water is shooting over top of the gutter than you have a completely diff issue. Some questions need to be answered before a solution can be given. Seems to me the gutter was hung to low. how far below the roof line is the gutter? What type of roof is on the house? What is the pitch of the roof? how muchof an over hang do you have on the roofing material?
@larrycrookshanks90917 жыл бұрын
The shingles should have been installed 1"past the Drip edge. Then the water will Drip into the gutter and not wick over the edge and follow the metal behind the gutter. It's still a good idea though to install that extra flange to keep wind blown and splashing rain from hitting that back edge.
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
welp I wont say I disagree however it takes a little bit more brain power to start your roof like that n lets face it most roofers don't give a shit!! the only other thing is I have been to many tradeshows with a lot of roofing manufacturers and while they all do differ I have yet to see a manufacturer recommend a 1" overhang. It would really suck to have an issue and not have the manufacturer back their warranty because the roof wasn't installed in compliance with the manufacturers recommendations. Just saying!!
@muddyriverdogz7 жыл бұрын
If you are using a drip edge 1/8 to no overhang.
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
are you referring to manufacturer installation specs of shingles?
@thomastusing61036 жыл бұрын
its 5/8 to 3/4 recommended past drip edge
@homeytube13 жыл бұрын
1" is too far to hang shingles over a drip edge. They will warp over time and cause other problems. The solution is to extend the drip edge out 1/2" over the eave, then have the shingles 5/8" over the drip edge. Bam, water drips IN the gutter.

I have this exact problem and I am considering to buy this product. My only concern is that it comes in sections of 4 ft long. It would have been better if the sections were longer, so I would not have to stack some many of them, since potentially they need to be fastened. Do you sell individually 8 ft long sections as well? Also, why using a plane metal flashing would not be sufficient?
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
I agree longer pieces are better however until I get a distributor base the 4ft pieces are better for shipping. shipping is already expensive so I don't feel people would want to pay the extra for shipping... I am currently building a website where more options will be available...as for the metal flashing it could work but you wont save any money by the time you get the metal cut it and its a lot more difficult to get a flat piece behind the drip than it is to do so with my drip strip...the purpose of this product is to give a solution to a problem and make it as simple as possible for everyone...NOT everyone with this problem is a skilled carpenter!!! thx for your interest and your comment!!

Pull the original drip edge bottom out (bend it out) any water that rolls on the drip rail will fall into the gutter. Problem solved.
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
drip edge is not meant to be "pulled out" n besides that is much more of a hassle then installing this inexpensive piece. thx for your input
@rtroutbumm7 жыл бұрын
bob wallace rain gutter is supposed to be installed behind the drip edge. So pulling out would mean you can tuck the back of gutter behind the drip edge. If you ever drop below the tuck which can happen on long runs you just make sure the bottom lip is pulled out on the drip rail so water cant roll and go behind the gutter or into soffits. I have used strip metal like yours too, not saying it doesn't work just there are alternatives to that problem. Just my input. Thanks
@dripstrip18897 жыл бұрын
there are a lot of situations where its not possible to stay behind the drip and the reality is most seamless installers don't care about the long term aftermath a homeowner will have to endure once he's been paid. this is a very common problem that leaves homeowners scratching their head wondering what the hell they just paid so much money for. my video has 23000 views in 1 year that tells me this isn't something I'm imagining the problem is real. I have been in and around the rainwear business my entire life. as an installer and also as a manufacturer and wholesaler. I am a gutter machine tech and am well versed with most the people in the industry so I understand what you are saying but that doesn't help the thousands of people who have this issue and have no ability to figure the problem out or fix it. that is my goal to help the people who got screwed by the seamless gutter installer who cared more about his after work beer than he did the people who were paying for it I sincerely thank you for your comments it allows me to explain my motive I'm not trying to sell this to you if you have a gutter machine and you are one of the few good installers I'm simply making it available to help the people who need it!!!!

@@dripstrip1889 my problem is this:: i need a drip strip that is longer to cover a 3" span between the dumb 1" drip edge and the top of my gutter at its lowest point. im in hawaii with heavy rains--a corregated roof that extends over an inch past the facia and the gutter is set to be low enough to catch the water---any wider strips than a 2" yet??
@carterhutchison72113 жыл бұрын
Most of the time when I see gutter installed incorrectly it’s because the installer or gutter company put the gutter on top of the drip edge. This product will only work if the gutter has been hung below the drip edge, and you can still pull it out far enough to get the product behind it. Seems like a good product though. What’s to stop someone from just installing a longer drip edge though? It’s cheap as dirt
