Love the way you explain this. No treats/bribes in pockets. Everything good comes THROUGH you. We are the bridge to everything good. We are not just a pet dispenser

Thank you Mark for yet again a fantastic video. I am going to start this right away with my dog . What is so powerful about this, is that I believe this will work already, to achieve a recall with my dog . So I m already off to a good start .Thank you again🙏

I really really love this! This is a phenomenal explanation of how to really speak a dogs language! My trainer has taught me to classically condition a collar grab. Grab the collar, pull out treat, say your word (*cookie*means I’m delivering food to your mouth) and take a step back. Eventually, the dog will push their head and collar into your hand on recalls so you can grab their collar and deliver their R+! It really grows clarity and teaches them it’s a good thing to come near you :) Just pets work for some dogs, too!
@markdubose19865 ай бұрын
I’m not into collar grabs because most dogs take that as disrespectful to touch them like that. If they want to come they will, I don’t like to force them by grabbing ahold of them. That will give a recall that’s under force and not respect. Just the way I see dogs, from my experience.
@sarahneal10905 ай бұрын
@@markdubose1986 I see that, but the dog doesn’t have to come to you to classically condition it. If the dog is uncomfortable with the grab, you can start with the leash. My dog isn’t super into pets all the time so that pushes him away more than sticking out my hand so I can grab his collar. But to each his own! Every dog is different. I love your advice :)

Magnificent informacion as always. Thanks. But . . . ¿what about an American Pitbull Terrier with lots of energy and prey drive, who loves to "protect" and pick up fights?
@Gamingcommanderpro5 ай бұрын
As someone with an AMPit myself, just start going outside and see what they want to do. After you find that out, find a toy that will allow them to imitate that. I play tug and fetch since my dog wants to chase and bite small animals. She can't chase animals, but she can chase and bite her tug toy so she LOVES it. Watch his flirt pole video as well those I've heard are great. AmPits were breed for the physical strength and high prey drive. They can be calm respectful dogs, it does take lost of patience, but when you build that bond with an AM Pit, they will do anything for you.

This is a great response. Start with having him on leash and doing nothing at all in the front yard. Do not react or respond to anything the dog does until they calm down And then give pets. Your dog will learn that he needs to stay with you and then you will guide them where to go next. Not the other way around that your dog pulls you where they want and bark at what they want.

Loving all of these videos, is it possible to discuss resource guarding? I know it is natural to guard things but my dog has recently started guarding random objects like plastic containers and recently lunged at my fiancé when he walked into the room with the object. He didn’t bite thankfully but I’m disappointed it got to the point of him lunging. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Mark Anthony. Thank you for this message. I have been struggling with two pit bull rescue dogs for just over a year now, and you have given me new hope; no quick fixes but light at the end of the tunnel. When these dogs came to me at 6 months in age, they were the most wild, impulsive, savage things I've ever seen. I've been around dogs most of my life and never had issues with training or respect, but these sisters have caused me to question everything I thought I knew about dogs! We've made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go with regards to their hyper-intense prey drive which makes recall - or communication at all - impossible. I will put your words into practice immediately. Thanks again, Peter.

Loved your video. I wish it would work on my dog. My dog is so fixated on the chickens that he does not care about me. He literally runs 30 mph when I go like 5 ft near him.
@markdubose19865 ай бұрын
Do not start this with having him around the chickens at first then. Take a step back. If he doesn’t listen at all that’s where you need to build a better relationship

Some have used changing the name of a dog when the name and recall has been overused. I have found it’s best to just stop using name or command for a few days.
@markdubose19865 ай бұрын
I’ve seen so many people go this route with no success. Such as the leave it command. They say leave it and it doesn’t work so then drop it then say loose then say away from it then keep going. It’s not a words issue but a relationship issue. A dogs name is the greatest thing to the dog, if they are not responding it says a lot about how the dog really feels about you in my opinion.
@grt49er5 ай бұрын
@@markdubose1986 Thats why the silencing works so well. It forces the owner to interact with dog instead of standing there calling the name or command. When they have to physically go and get the dog the micro managing disappears. It builds the relationship.
