I won't be tempted to drink tomorrow on Thanksgiving as I'll be alone. Most of my family has passed away, the little bit of family I have left went to the Carolinas for Thanksgiving. I've been sober for almost 30 days now. Feel so much better. I've also hit my weight loss goal so I'm going to splurge with a Pepsi and some pie tomorrow - I have cut out sweets as well as alcohol - but again I'm going to splurge on those tomorrow while I watch the football games. Now, the big temptation comes this Saturday. I sing for a rock and roll band and I'll be playing in a bar - I'll be surrounded by band mates, and patrons of the bar that all drink and in the past I have drank right along with them. I'm sure they're all going to be shocked when I'm just knocking back my water as I'm performing - I'm not breaking though - this sobriety just feels too good. I'm loving this 7-8 hours of sleep every night with no hangover and nausea the next day! Happy Thanksgiving all, thank you Jae!

Come Christmas Eve, I’ll be 6 months sober. I was toying with the idea of drinking at Christmas but changed my mind as I’ll be able to enjoy my son and daughter more and remember the day with them rather than having fun in the morning and being drunk by the afternoon/evening. My kids will appreciate it more too. I’ll be celebrating Christmas at my brother and his partners house. There will be a lot of us there. I’m going to help out more rather than just take advantage of the free food and drink. It will probably be a rainy day….it is England after all. I hope you all have a merry Christmas. Be strong. I’m looking for some nice, enjoyable mocktails. If any know of some good ones to share, please do.

Reaching the two month sober mark soon and I feel amazing. I’d say getting sober at 25 is a learning experience, especially when everyone around you drinks alcohol to celebrate, but I often tell myself “if this were easy, everyone would be doing it”. I think the thing that’s been helping me is filling the time I would use for drinking with new experiences and finding ways to enhance my mind and body rather than set them back. Watching videos and channels like this one keep the vision fresh in your mind and always reminding myself that it’s a day by day process rather than a “sprint”. Sobriety is definitely an amazing gift to give to myself this year and years to come.

I did 100 days sober this year, started on Feb.1. This channel definitely got me through the times when I was craving alcohol, or just wanted to learn why I was drinking... and the harmful effects it was causing on my physical and mental health. And then... thinking I could "control" it in June, I drank way too much and became an embarrassment one evening on a beach vacation with my family. Took another month "off" in August, then dabbled in the drink again in September and October. Of course, the bad sleeping habits came back, and the "oh, I'm only going to have 1 glass of wine"... then wake up the next day, and the whole bottle was gone. So I made a deal with myself to do another 100 days starting Nov. 1, mainly because it is the holidays. This was my first Thanksgiving without alcohol around my family, and it was actually great! My sister even chose not to drink with me, then I got a very nice text message afterwards saying she was soooo proud of me for doing the sober lifestyle and bettering myself. So I just want to THANK YOU Jae, and this channel and community for being the best motivation to stay sober. You have been an inspiration to me. Cheers to bettering our selves in 2024!

For me, as a proud Vancouverite & huge Glee fan, I was pretty broken when Cory Monteith lost his life to addiction. Sometimes if I think about him too long, I feel incredibly sad that he left this world, all by himself. Breaks my effing heart. I often felt I couldn't be "relaxed" enough to do my thing so I would drink. But as I acknowledge my struggle with alcoholism, I realise now that I did LESS creatively then when I was a sober sally. I'm excited to see what we're going to create, sober, moving forward. (Fun fact - Walt Disney didn't want alcohol in Disneyland, because he didn't want his park to be a place where parents needed alcohol to get by with their kids. And he didn't want to set a bad example for children. . Extra fun fact! He was ashamed of his cigarette problem, and didn't want to set a bad example, that he made sure never to have photos of him smoking publicly. So far as having photos with his cigarette "photoshopped" out. Like. This was in the 20s!) Next! Sober celebrities that inspire me are Eminem, Steve-O, Zac Efron... ...and most importantly, Jae ❤😊 Find us creatively on IG at @undercoverdisney.yvr and our Aquired Brain injury survivor story @brainaflame 🙏❤️

Heya from Zimbabwe. Day 10 here. I am grateful for God's grace. Lost my dad last year at 72. Used booze to medicate until my body gave me a wake up call. Been on and off the booze for over a decade now but somehow I am still relatively intact. Thank God.

Thanks for all the comments. They help, and the videos are great. I’m 8 days sober now and Christmas is now only 3 days away. I’m frankly worried about how to get through until January 2nd, when most of the people I love will be drinking. FOMO is very real for me, so I’m not sure how I’ll manage, but I’m determined to make it happen. I figure that if I can get through the holidays, and 2 straight weeks of not drinking, it’ll be a great start.

You can do it buddy. Remember that alcohol doesn't add anything to your life, anything you can do drunk you can still do sober. Except get a hangover or make a drunken fool of yourself. I love waking up with no feelings of guilt or shame or panic... life is going to be better without alcohol, so please don't give up on yourself!

Hi Jae Love your channel! I have been alcohol free for 17 months. I just got back from the US for a wedding and birthday. We live in the Philippines at the moment. I come from a family of heavy drinkers but I don't make an issue of my soberity so it just doesn't matter. Also try drinking a mock tail. I'm grateful to be alive at 57 with advanced heart disease. I wasn't suppose to be alive now so I'm prepared to go any day. I'm very thankful for any day that I can get out of bed I'm thankful for being able to travel and having a great partner to share these precious last days with. Happy Holidays!!

from Wisconsin.. we have 8 of the drunkest cities/towns in USA. I did start on Jan 1 2024.. 6 days in. Dreamt that I was drinking last night... felt regret in that dream...woke with headache. I can keep it going. I have a list of things to do if I get a craving. It's like I want to drink.. yet I don't want to. Hard to explain. ( mock tails have been helpful ) ... I don't know... I'll figure the urges out... I sometimes wonder if it's my environment..Wisconsin has a "culture" of drinking..it's hard to avoid.

So I am now 70 days in. I quit both Weed and Booze at the same time Cold Turkey after consuming daily for over 25 years. This was my first Holiday Season sober since I was quite young. Guess what? It was a fun Holiday Season, even with a little left to go. Some family members were a little irritated because they lost their party buddy, however I was not silent. I was full of laughter and involved in conversation. I was actually the Designated Driver home last night. During the drive home I noticed something..... My Night Vision was so much better. It was like going from a TV in the 1990's to 4K. I had heard about the effects of booze on Night Vision, but now I know its true.

First of all: here, in Spain, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving so one less in the count but our "crhistmas season" last until 6th of january because we celebrate "The Three Wise Men" so, at last, this are 3 milestones. This is going to be my first winter holydays sober. I will avoid that part of my family who always say "Hey, one it's not going to make you bad!" the 24 of december going to a dinner with friends who don't drink. Also, I'm going to a New Year's Eve with my A.A. group. Save enviroment for all of us and no annoying people around making myself feel like an alien cause I'm not drinking. Thanks to you and all members of this comunnity you've created, Jae! And happy sober holydays!
