Filmed in High Definition, Gettysburg and Stories of Valor, narrated by actor Keith Carradine,
This documentary, focuses on one of the most critical periods in United States history, the Civil War. Segments examine well-known and lesser-known stories from the battle: a war photographer who controversially staged bodies of dead "Union" soldiers five months following the actual battle; the assassination attempt on Union General Winfield Scott Hancock; Pickett's famous charge, and the dramatic tale of Confederate General Lewis Armistead. Exploring a wide variety of Civil War practices, Gettysburg and Stories of Valor connects viewers with a past that remains relevant today.

Tried to watch Ken Burns Civil War Documentary because it was the best one I’ve ever seen. Come to find out Netflix took it down, along with almost every single other series or film about the Civil War. I’ll never forget how amazing history is and always will be regardless of people trying to erase it.

I have an 2nd great uncle, William Copenhaver, that died at Andersonville. After much research, I Found his grave about 10 years ago when I visited the cemetery. It is a National Cemetery and veterans can still be buried there. While I was looking for his grave there was a ceremony going on for one such veteran. At the exact moment I laid eyes on my uncles grave they commenced to play taps for the funeral ceremony followed by a 3 volley rifle salute. Talk about synchronicity... You can't make up stuff that is better then what really happens!

My uncle Joe was captured at Kennesaw Mt. and went to Andersonville. He was the only survivor out of the group he was captured with to leave there alive.Great Gram relayed to me her remembrance of the only things he ever said about it from when she was little. He didn't say anything about the war until he was older and even then, very little. Tough times, tough breed then.

RetiredGuy Adventures well one thing for sure I am totally mad at what happened when the prisoners of Andersonville prison were freed and what happened was you see there was this ship called the sultana and it was carrying the survivors of Andersonville prison home and you see i don’t know who did it but the ship exploded and there are many reasons as to why it happened some people believed it was a problem with the boilers but others believe it was the work of a confederate agent and it cost a lot of lives there was 1,800 people that died during the explosion

The US government was at all times a government of delegated powers. See 1789 US Const Am. X. The fact that the federal powers come from the states proves that the states are the source of federal power, not the other way around. The sovereignty lay with the States. Therefore the seceding states were not in rebellion.

The Battle of Gettysburg was July 1-3, 1863. On 7/4, there was no fighting - both armies had been incredibly battered. It poured rain and Gen. Lee began his retreat. Also on that holi-day, Vicksburg surrendered to Gen. Grant after a 47-day siege. 'Father Abraham' Lincoln gave a July 4th speech from the White House where he acknowledged the alignment of these two victories and said, "87 years ago".

Yeah, Camp Douglas was worse than the prison camp near Andersonville, GA. And "Hellmira" made CD look like a health spa. The South didn't have the commodities to feed yankee prisoners as the North did. The North intentionally starved rebel prisoners, and not one of the camp commanders were held accountable. I find this most ironic.

My great Grandfather Adam Jury was at Andersonville but was transferred to Salisbury Prison where he died of disentary. Just a foot note to this terrible tale, more than 4000 more southern prisoners died in Federal prison camps than northern prisoners died in southern. Rich southern planters started that war and poor young boys, from both sides, finished it. Your hate filled comments proves that, for some of us, it solved nothing.

I really don't like the story's of Lincoln and Davis dressed like lady's. Both accounts have been provided false. Lincoln didn't dress up to get through Baltimore and Davis had a blanket over his head.

What about Camp Douglas? Love a biased documentary. The propaganda of the victor does certainly become the history of the vanquished.

the last century has been cleverly and scientifically planned and carried out to demonize the white man and glorify everyone else. Except it's the fruits of our spoils that's being given to them ? we get called Nazi's and racists but yet it was we who fought and freed them. I say no more...do it yourself and then blame yourself..
