Spyro's first time XC schooling

She did AMAZING :) So proud!
Sorry if this is boring, kept in some of the long bits so no one would think she just suddenly was perfect at the drops! I am so proud of her, brave girl :)
No crit please, I know my riding is not perfect but I think it was a pretty successful day for our first time doing cross country together :)

i admire your patience with horses more then anything, you don't force them to do something they don't feel comfortable with, you either walk away or keep trying until you make them feel comfortable its really nice to see someone who doesn't just pick up a whip and expect force to help. you're incredible!

Was really nice to watch someone actually ride an unsure pony with patience and encouragement and lots of praise. Really sympathetic, forgiving riding but at the same time firm and precise :) good on you

You've done such a great job! It's so nice to see you reassuring her when she is nervous - especially when it comes to those drops! The confidence boost that must give her is well worth the time and effort, it's going to make her amazing at it. I try and do that when I ride as well, a little reassurance and them knowing that you're there with them goes a long way. I truly admire the way you approach training your horses and riding in general, if everyone were like that we would have a lot less scared and nervous horses. :)

Well, yeah. Evented through Prelim (3'6") and did some Intermediate Combined Tests (3'9") and show jumped a big higher. Didn't jump until I was around 16. Stopped eventing about 20 years ago. I'm a DQ now.I have a spooky horse that gets in the air quite a bit without the help of jumps!!! LOL Good job with the pony though. She looks like a fun ride!

I love how you have such a light seat and quiet leg and stick with her rather than against her; especially when she gets a bit uneasy/nervous you stay calm and always reward her after she does said obstacle :)

Everybody has a different way of training their horses and riding them in new situations and I think Gemma knows her pony good enough to handle the new surroundings and obstacles very well. Other people might prefer a different approach, but that doesn't justify critisism; just looking at the progress these two made from Spyro's first time with a saddle on to this is proof enough for how good they work together just the way it is. :)
