Great to see updated videos on how to set it up. Ive had mine for nearly a year and its worked great. Would be great to see a video on how to wire the wide band option

Watched all the video tutorials really helpful thank you, one issue I’ve come across recently is that if I launch/brake boost the car in first gear it hits the overboost setting which is a lot higher than desired target, but then is fine in every other gear etc it’s even fine in first gear if I roll into i. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

how to safely set the gain? what are indications or numbers we need to look at?
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
Hi, the GAIN setting can help the turbo spool by preventing some air reaching the wastegate until you reach a boost value closer to your previously set boost target. This setting would ideally need to be fine-tuned specifically for your vehicle as we, unfortunately, do not have an exact figure that would be required for your specific vehicle - we do, however, provide a guide on how this is to be set. It is tempting to set the GAIN setting to 100, however - this may result in you overshooting your boost target. Thanks.

My car is a BMW E92 335i LCI DCT. Is it possible to install and use this product? I haven't replaced the turbocharger, but I have introduced Stage 2 of MHD Tuning.

The G-Force 3 is not a vehicle specific product. With that said, there may be certain factors that make it more or less suitable for your application. For specific information about your vehicle please contact our engineers at support@gfb.com.au

I just installed one of these into my mates Forrester, when its idling it's at -63 vaccuum, have I installed the vaccuum line off the controller into a wrong port on the intake? Wheres the best place on the intake manifold to "T off" from?
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, It sounds like you've probably got the unit set up to read kPa. You can change the units in the menu from kPa to Bar or PSI. -63 kPa is about what you'd expect for idle vacuum

I’m a little confused with my controller, the car is tapering boost at higher RPM and I cannot figure it out. I have cranked up the sensitivity setting and it seems to not do anything. On my other controller, gain is what increases wgdc/rpm if it starts to taper. Do I need to play with gain?
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos 2 жыл бұрын
The main thing is to make absolutely sure you have a target boost saved. If not, the gain and sensitivity settings will do nothing and it will operate in open loop. To check target boost, tap "settings" once to go into the duty cycle menu. It will show you the current duty cycle, followed by the target boost (called "PEAK" in this case). If the target/peak value is zero, or significantly lower than it should be, you need to record the actual target value by doing a boost run with the controller in the duty cycle menu. If you do have the correct target boost stored in the duty menu, and you've cranked sensitivity to max (100), and nothing changes, it is likely that the turbo simply cannot provide any more. If your duty cycle is higher than 70%, that means the controller doesn't have a lot of headroom to correct for tapering boost. With sensitivity at 100, if your boost drops a few psi it is probably giving the solenoid 100% duty and there's nothing more it can do. Switching to a stiffer wastegate spring (or swapping out the actuator to a higher pressure unit) should help, as it will bring the base duty cycle down, meaning when sensitivity cranks up the duty to correct for taper, it has more headroom to do so. You may still run into choke issues with the turbo however if it is too small for the boost level you're targeting. With regards to your other controller, disregard any correlation between what each setting does. On the G-Force, gain controls spool up, sensitivity controls closed-loop correction. The advice above is given without knowing anything about your setup. If you've checked or done the suggestions above and still can't get it working, get in touch with us via our tech support channel on the website to discuss in more detail.

@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
That's probably something you should be asking your tuner. The G-Force is a tuning tool that is designed to be used with an ECU tune to ensure that the engine has the correct amount of fuel and spark for the boost pressure.

@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
@@christaylor1753 Hi Chris, Unfortunately I can only give you information about what the product is capable of, and what the product is capable of is giving you far more boost pressure than is needed to destroy your engine, especially if it is not going to be tuned. The amount of boost you're willing to run in your engine depends on how strong the engine is, and how much room there is in the factory tune to allow for extra boost pressure. For safety, I wouldn't ever recommend running higher than standard boost pressure on an un-tuned engine unless you're monitoring AFR's and are willing to accept the risk that the engine may not last very long.

What gear should i do the runs on? Would be 2nd gear be sufficient
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos 3 жыл бұрын
The higher the better, and note that you don't need to redline it, you want to sweep through the peak torque RPM as this is where boost is usually highest. If 2nd gear is all that's practical where you're setting it up, try some pressure on the brakes with your left foot to load up the engine. What you're trying to do here is prevent the RPM from rising too fast, as this makes it harder to set up accurately.

Heys guys, when adjusting the gain setting, will I need to get a retune as it’s changing how hard boost comes on? My cars tuned with boost coming on soft low end to full boost in the high end so need to know in case it causes me to run lean…? Cheers
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
Hi Jakey, The tune should not be the limit when increasing gain. This is of course assuming that the car has been tuned well. It's always a good idea to monitor fuelling with a wideband any time you're changing boost pressure
@jakey528
@jakey528 Жыл бұрын
@@gfbvideos I’m not a tuner. So in other words it will need to be checked on the dyno afterwards? I don’t have afr set up. I just don’t wanna increase the gain at all if it’s going to have me run lean
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
@@jakey528 Increasing the gain shouldn't make you run lean. Of course there is always a risk when modifying your car, but if the tune has been done by a professional and you don't increase the gain too much and overshoot your target boost, you shouldn't have any issues. I can't 100% guarantee that nothing is going to go wrong as I don't know anything about your car, what modifications it has or what the tune is like, but generally increasing gain is very safe
@jakey528
@jakey528 Жыл бұрын
@@gfbvideos only asking because I thought certain amounts of fuel are set in the tune at certain boost levels in the curve, and since turning the gain up would bring boost on harder I thought fueling would have to be adjusted by tuner to compensate? As my boost curve right now comes in slow being a n/a high comp engine
@gfbvideos
@gfbvideos Жыл бұрын
@@jakey528 Generally because you're not increasing boost pressure past the maximum that you're tuned for the map will include fuelling information. But again, I don't know anything about your car or your tune so I can't give you any definite answers.
