Hi Mark & nanny Di, silent sub here (; top tip -ground elder hates potatoes, mow down the elder,plant potatoes,surround with mulch,repeat annually .2years on i have no ground elder. *its also an edible green for Nadia & Dina 😊

You could plant some Armeria in front of the roses and in some of the back garden beds. Evergreen and have flowers that just keep coming all summer long. I have armeria alba (white) and maritima (pink) in front of my DA roses. Bit of a neglectful gardener here and they are my reliables that I can forget about nurturing.

I spot weed kill my ground elder, if you leave a tiny bit of root in, it comes back. It has taken me about ten years to finally get rid of the majority of it, with one stubborn plant under my peony rose which I can't weed kill or dig it out.

I know Ground Elder is a pain however it is edible, packed with nutrients and absolutely delicious when cooked in butter with a sprinkle of salt. Make the most of that pesky weed and get it in a frying pan! 💚
