Thanks for the video! I watched it live and I am feeling sadness and I also sense that there was injustice done against GFriend. I suspect that there was an unwritten agreement between Bang Si-hyuk and Scooter Braun for HYBE to acquire Ithaca Holdings on condition that HYBE disband GFriend. The timing is suspect because just about a month after the acquisition deal was announced and just four days after Scooter Braun was officially elected a member of the HYBE board, the contract termination of GFriend was reported by the media and announced by Source Music. It may have to do with the controversy involving Sowon earlier this year because Scooter Braun is a conservative Jew. But I think the real issue for Scooter Braun was Big Hit's failure to prevent it from happening again after the 2018 controversy involving BTS, because the Simon Wiesenthal Center raised the same issue in a tweet and directed its condemnation to Big Hit for its failure to prevent it from happening again. So the question is if Scooter Braun raised this issue during the negotiation stage, what was Bang Si-hyuk's response. (You can Google search Jerusalem Post and Sowan to find this news article. Jerusalem Post misspelled her name.) Given the sequence of events that took place up to now, it is possible that Bang Si-hyuk and Scooter Braun somehow reached an unwritten agreement to blame everything on Source Music and GFriend and disband GFriend as a condition for the acquisition deal. If it turns out to be true, both Bang Si-hyuk and Scooter Braun should leave the entertainment industry permanently for making false Nazi accusations, holding wrong persons responsible, letting themselves off the hook for their business interests, and failing to handle this issue responsibly at the highest corporate executive level. Even assuming Bang Si-hyuk wrongfully blamed everything on Source Music and GFriend in his response, Scooter Braun was in a position to find out that Bang Si-hyuk is lying and it was Big hit's fault primarily. Also, given the facts we already know, we can safely say that Big Hit and now HYBE failed to take any proactive and ostensible actions to prevent it from happening again, and its inaction alone can constitute its failure to handle this issue responsibly at the highest corporate executive level. That incident was not entirely Sowon's fault, and given the situation, it was an innocent mistake on her part. Just a week after it happened, Israeli Ambassador to South Korea Akiva Tor visited the cafe, observed the scene, and concluded that a faulty, misleading setting of mannequins led to Sowon's innocent mistake. Specifically, he was okay with displaying a mannequin of a German soldier for military history education purposes, but he pointed out that the mannequin of a German solder was displayed alongside with a mannequin of a U.S. military officer without any explanation of the historical context of these two mannequins, and the cafe's failure to provide the historical context of these two mannequins can mislead innocent visitors into thinking that they are moral equivalents and allies. Ambassador Tor said that Sowon made a mistake because she did not know the history and there was no historical context explaining the difference between these two mannequins. I can't be the first person who has ever made this point: Doesn't allowing a contract to end while the artists are still on a "high note", still popular, make it easier for them to sign a worthwhile contract elsewhere? GFriend was certainly on that high note, but you see the same thing in sports - an athlete will strive to have his best year right before contract negotiations. Ending GFriend certainly sucks for us (I'm miserable about it), but maybe it's not so bad for them? Just trying to take a different look at it, I'm not really knowledgeable about the ins and outs of contract negosh in the Kpop industry.

@@bladebaron9351 I might agree with u if the contract ended normally. But the timeline doesn't make sense. GFRIEND was supposed to debut in November 2014, but got pushed to January 2015. Given that kpop contracts are a standard 7 years, there's no reason they should have ended in May? Also some other things happened which made it seem like everything was rushed last minute. - A show Yuju was on had to rush to finish uploading all of their episodes ahead of schedule after the news dropped. - Yerin's BeautyTime show had to put out a statement saying Yerin will still be attending even after disbandment, and Yerin had to come to film without the company to support her. - Superstar GFRIEND had to cancel their game's first anniversary event and instead plan a goodbye event. - Even hybe insight (u know they museum thing hybe made) had to remove certain GFRIEND exhibits and Sowon as a virtual tourguide even tho they had added the girls to the museum maybe only a month prior.

I have additional comments on this issue just for general educational purposes. Despite its high education level, South Korea's contemporary history education has been traditionally weak due to political reasons. The worst of these racists said that if you are not a Jew, don't say anything in response to the apology because only Jews should decide on whether to accept or reject apology. This is blatantly racist because it denies the existence of non-Jewish victims of the Germany-Japan-Italy Axis during World War II. Discrimination of World War II victims based on race and ethnicity should be condemned with the strongest language, and they do not have any moral standing to speak anything about GFriend. Those who say that if you are not a Jew don't speak about the apology are engaged in horrendous racial and ethnic discriminations and aiding and abetting Nazi allies and their biological and political descendants in their efforts to conceal their ancestors' war crimes committed in alliance with Nazi Germany. This is a type of racism that is much worse than an unintended mistake. On Twitter, I reported some of these racists and Twitter suspended and terminated the Twitter accounts of some of the racists I reported. When that incident happened, I immediately knew that she made an unintended mistake but I tried to raise the issue of these bigger issues but too many haters who know nothing about South Korea's contemporary history and politics screamed way too much against GFriend and told me not to say anything if I am not a Jew, which is racially offensive and intolerable. If something similar happens again in the K-Pop world, I will hold those ignorant haters and racists who know nothing about South Korea's contemporary history and politics primarily responsible for failing to see the bigger picture and allowing it happen again.

Gfriend disbanding didn't hit me at first. I was just very angry and confused about the whole situation, but seeing this.. I can't help but cry. The way they started from nothing, all the hardships they had to face, the places they are and were going through SHEER TALENT. It is incredibly sad, but it also makes me so proud to be a Buddy. They helped me control my depression, I really miss them, I feel so helpless. When the news came it was at night in my country and I felt very sick, then a few days when I was in class I was all the class crying in silence, to this day I can't get over it and there are some songs that I still can't listen to. one of them because I start to cry and I need to be mentally well right now. It is unfair to see how some teenagers who fought to have their dreams, got sick, had very difficult times, trained too many times (on their own) their debut song for it to be perfect, they get paid this way. But despite everything, I still have faith that they will return, they have to come to Chile ❤ so that I can see them. Since debut they have suffered injustice from the awards and their own company that they need to have a 2nd opportunity to show everything they wanted this year, to show that they earned everything they had by simply being them and that no one can take away what they themselves, without promotion, created. But if they won't, I will continue to support each one separately, because this is just a new beginning for GFRIEND ❤

I've been avoiding watching this since I knew it would make me cry...I've been a Buddy since 2016, right when Rough was released. I had just discovered kpop, and I was immediately drawn to Gfriend upon hearing Rough for the first time. Over the years, I worked hard to protect and promote them, especially when people tried to insist that they weren't improving or that they had their "downfall" with Fingertip (...a very hard era to live through as a Buddy lol). Their sudden disbandment really hurt me; I was having a trouble year already and then suddenly being betrayed by their company and basically fired, hurt a lot. It especially was hard because it felt like so many kpop fans didn't care that they disbanded and why. To them, it was a "seven year curse" thing and not the fact that so many shady things happened when they disbanded and it was handled so poorly by the company that got all their money from Gfriend in the first place. I have plenty of insane conspiracy theories about why it went down the way it did, but I try not to think about them since it doesn't really matter. They were still disbanded, still hurt very deeply, and still forced to not stay together. That being said, the success they have all seen now since disbandment is a true testament to their talent, skill, and strength. They will always be Gfriend to me, but they are also Sojung, Yerin, Eunbi, Yuna, Eunbi, and Yewon on various new paths in their lives. I will always be their Buddy

For 1 hour video, you did a great job on editing, compiling, squeezing everything so that important point covered. How i wish more and more people would watch this video and think of all things that happened to gfriend disbandment (idk if this the perfect word to desc the situation). Gfriend have gone through so much during all of the years they being active as a group and they deserve a better parting even if that’s what they want. Only the girls know the truth and the people who involved. Regardless, i still cannot believe it ended just like that for only 4 days since the announcement made. Buddy will forever confused with the situation as long as there’s no one would reveal what happened behind the scenes. Buddy don’t really care if other fans or people don’t want to fight for justification of this matter. I saw this video years ago but never had the courage to watch this. That day still feels like yesterday to me except the fact that I’m stronger as seeing the bigger picture now. I still remember the day I strolled and saw Sunrise then fell in love with them. I used to be a fan of so many kpop gg but for reasons I ended up stop stanning them all except YeoChin. They just have a special place in my heart. Someone who make me feel when I think of them. Someone who actually treat their fans like friends. Someone who make me feel so close with them like a family. I feel like I’m growing up with them in the last several years while experiencing all of those things. Really grateful for their existence. Really miss them but I know that we’ll see them on the same stage again one day. After watching this i again realised how hard working thay are, how much they had to go through to be where they are now. I am sooo proud of them.Even though they know the the struggle will not be easy they continued their journey. All the hardwork, the hatred, the pain that they went through made them successful because instead of guving up they chose to fight through all those struggles. I don't have anything ti say except how proud i am of them and how thankful i am ti them for giving me the best years of my life. My support will always be with them for the rest of my life.

I can't imagine the amount of work needed for making this video but I am very thankful for it. It is a fantastic video displaying Gfriend's journey and it is so detailed. I got emotional 10 minutes in 😭😭. Gfriend was the only Kpop group that I was still actively following and supporting. I remember checking one of their stages out of curiosity during Glass Bead era and I really became a fan during Rough era. I have never been disappointed by any of their comebacks and I have stayed a fan until the very end of Gfriend as a Source Music group. I don't know what it was with these girls that made me so happy to see them perform or star in variety shows but whatever it was (whether it was their choreos, songs, personalities, their group dynamic or the combination of all of these factors), I am going to miss this group a lot. I always said that after Gfriend, there will be no more Kpop group for me and that's it really. I will keep an eye on their individual activities and I will be very happy if they ever have some kind of reunion where they can sing some of their songs. Despite the unfortunate end of this legendary group, I am also glad to see that they are still in touch with each other and how supportive they are with each other's new career path. Gfriend really had one of the best teamwork . Edit: I was not ready for the end of this video with Wheel of the Year. I can't believe this song turned into a goodbye song 😭😭😭

Legit felt sad when I learned that they were terminated. GFriend will always be special to me. Their songs really lift my spirits, especially in these times. Thank you!, watching this brings back so many happy times and some painful, 6 Angels whom brought happiness with unbelievable talent to the kpop world for GGs, all there songs have poetic lyrics with meaning, so many gained joy and strength from them incuding me, Ismile every time when I hear them and honestly they are the only Group that can make me smile because I am a real grumpy bugga, yet they hit me good LOL, real music, real lyrics, beautiful dancing, vocals that put u in the clouds, until Yuju belts, she the earth vocal others , Eunha the wind rest soft clouds, was always sad Sowon never got a lot, I know she was the less active vocally, yet she held her own Then, Sowon covered pretend, And it was such a heavenly sound I fell in love again she sounded so damn good, then recently Yerin, next less active during an add she covers Wish, once agin the vocals, Kpop and korea as a whole have lost out on true talent, they can have their sexy concept and EDM music with repeating lyrics that make no sense, I would take Gfriend over them any day so the girls have moved on, I have moved with them they are my Angels, their sound got me out of a very dark place, something that no other music has managed, they never wanted to be popular, they only wanted to entertain and it was acomplished in every way, Proud being a buddy, the friendly fandom, yea we got bad apples too, but on the whole, Sowon leads the girls and buddies, poor girl she got a big family, I support an wish them future health and happy times, looking forward to see them in their new roles as entertainers

I can only say, thank you for your effort in this video. Even a portuguese translated thread... When you grown up, and don't have time to do things that you usually do, whether it's for work, personal problems and things like that, it's hard to keep up with that sort of thing. When i came back to listen to the songs i heard at the time, and discover about that, it was a feeling of impotent, of not being able to do anything and just feel. I hope that gfriend will have a sense of comfort in their current companies and i hope their new company won’t ditch them like what SoMu did. As someone who has listened to Gfriend but didn’t Stan them that much until Mago era, i saw many videos. Gfriend has built SoMu with their blood, sweat and tears and SoMu just betrayed them. They might not be the most popular but I love the to the core. You might wonder, if they are not popular, why do you Stan them. Are you ashamed of stanning a not so popular group? why do you Stan them? The answer is simple. Their humility and their hard work. They are perfect to me not because they are the best in everything, but because they always give the best they can. Yes, they might be exhausted while promoting but they don’t show it. They always try their best and I admire them for it. I am not ashamed of stanning them and I will never will. They have provided comfort to me. They are really amazing, i am not saying they are underrated, but they deserve more success. SoMu DONT deserve them AT ALL. I am so proud of each and every one of them. I wish- I wish I could hug them and tell the, how much I love them. How much they mean to me. How talented, beautiful they are. Ppl keep saying, its part of Idol Life, they deal with hate comments. No. The haters are calling sowon a bad leader, but she is NO WHERE NEAR a bad leader, so much their Managers Trust the other 5 girls with sowon. Sowon loves and makes sure they are fed well. Not to mention how much she acts like a mother to buddies, like when she asked buddies to eat when they said they didn’t eat yet. When sowon becomes a mother, I am sure she will be a awesome and a cool mother, not because she’s a Idol, but because she knows when to be serious and when to not. Even Viviz didnt want to choose a leader because they say sowon is the only leader for them. Haters say Umji is ugly, the ugliest Idol ever, you might think it isn’t that much but do haters know how much it impacted Umji? Her Self esteem weht town ALOT. She is beautiful in my eyes. She is so gorgeous and talented. I would like to see netizens face then. She is like a Disney princess. I even thought that she was so pretty when I first saw her. Haters also comment on her weight. She went on many diets that aren’t that healthy because of it… Yerin is my bias because of her wonderful personality. She looks drop dead gorgeous and I rlly love her visuals… She is so beautiful 😭😭 and about her vocals… i understand, she might not be the best vocalist ever, or the best sub-vocals. She does not have supported vocal range. I get it, but do you really have to critique her? I have never heard a time she made a mistake before while singing live. She always gives her best. Her Dance is amazing tho- like GIRLIE CAN DANCE OK?!?!? I can’t understand why ppl say she can’t dance when SHE CAN YALL. I feel like their achievements are like mine, not physically. What I mean is the feeling when they got an achievement how happy I feel. They have achieved so much, especially since they came from a small company. If they didn’t want to sign the contract, there must be some questionable things on there.

We all know that GFRIEND is the standard, and more than that, they are literally legends in kpop. They are very big there in Korea and the rest of Asia, even more than other groups that are popular internationally. GFRIEND has shown how to create music, always being unique, with beautiful instruments and choreography, they knew what they were doing. They are trends, icons in the industry. Even though the company ONLY published a collage with 6 pictures like ""goodbye"", the awards shows, the staff and choreographers of the girls, reporters and news in Korea and MORE (even SVT's Seungkwan) knew how to give it a farewell and words as they deserve, because they know how horrible just happened. 21:38 this is soooo iconic ♥ 23:17 LW is nostalgic for me because I met them here, and then I waited for SR to get to know them better and I decided to stan them...
