You should only use it as a read (the timing is strict), as you risk being counter-hit by stuff you could just defend against, and you definitely don't want to be counter-hit by Sol.

ive found it to be really useful against moves like fadnir becuase of how safe backdashing afterwards you can avoid playing that game if you can use parry on reaction to it and just get a turn
