probably cause this game is just really snowbally. against chipp sometimes you'll wanna burst early just so he doesnt stay on top of you for the rest of the game and as chipp you'll wanna burst early or you evaporate

Might also be because in the early game, neither player has enough tension to RC the hit and bait the burst, outside of jump canceling a kick, close slash, or a punch with short recovery. Plus, the sooner it gets depleted, the sooner it's likely to regenerate when you do start taking some big hits

Chipp main here, lot of factors. For Chipp specifically - many times, two combos will kill him, so he needs to burst aggressively, especially against a high-damage, high kill threat character like Nago or Goldlewis. Then there's the "position" factors: height I was hit at, position on the stage, momentum, etc. Any one of those things raises a red flag? Burst time, or Chipp's going to be fighting off the back foot for the entire round. And then also, thanks to the burst generation changes, you might as well burst often against characters that like to wall splat or pile on the hits. Lower health characters also passively build burst faster, so again - might as well use it.

I mean you gain meter as you get hit anyways so for the most part, you’d only wanna keep it if you know they aren’t gonna punish you hard off the one interaction (but that’s a scarcity in this game)
