Get asuka on defense and he explodes. You can see as much in this match - even the best asuka out there has a BAD TIME escaping blockstrings. Spells are generally TRASH when used alone - they've got a decent amount of startup and are prone to counterhits. They also need mana, which is a problem if you're getting out of a defensive position - you likely don't have much anymore, so setting up your offense is tricky. Spells are good because they have a TON of cancelable frames at the end and are pretty plus on block, and they build lots of meter. They're also like 60% of asuka's kit. If asuka doesn't have enough framespace or mana to use 'em, he's gonna suffer.

Gobou seems like an absolute menace, who’s main strategy is just to snowball and loop a character’s main gimmick with ever-increasing momentum. I still shudder remembering his Goldlewis sweep.

You can see how useless Millia's moveset is against new characters and some old ones that are getting new options in this game right now. Millia is just in a terrible state right now. she can't even get close to her opponent.
