I think Bedman might actually be strong this patch. The changes to j.d and j.s already made him a lot stronger and landing a hit during pressure so the guard crush strength isn’t quite as vital as it was before. So now with the health buffs plus install bomb in neutral and finding the character feels quite strong.

Well done covering this my friend genuinely I still have not met any other players like you online with this character. It is quite frustrating cuz watching your bed man showed me a lot. @@NeonWasInUseBlue burst has 14 frames of startup. Install was buffed from 16 frames to 12 frames total. This means that if the opponent bursts during your combo as you are going into install (with you going into install up to 2 frames after they bursted), you will be able to see their burst animation start during the screen freeze and block it. Blocking a blue burst gives you a guaranteed counter hit combo route, so blocking a burst during your combo is called “baiting” the burst, as you expect them to burst and want to block it for higher reward. Having a combo that allows you to block burst at certain points makes that combo “burst-safe” at those points in the combo.

I also agree that the super long blockstring is kinda boring for bedman. I am so happy to be flying around in the air with j.s and playing around errors than being an OTP getting people to trapped in the corner blocking for a year. Also I am not great and am stuck around floor 6-8 so grain of salt ofc. Really happy with all the recent changes

Question: What do you mean by "Level" when speaking about the bomb or other specials? I don't play Bedman but am generally familiar with his playstyle tho ive never heard of his specials having levels to it. Unless the levels refer to the manual/automatic activations of the follow up as well as the install versions

Bedman's 236H (call 4B9 Malfunction or "Malfunction" for short) has 3 levels. 236H can be charged at three different thresholds. Releasing 236H as soon as possible results in a level 1 Malfunction. Releasing 236H at the highest charge results in a level 3 malfunction. You can assume that level 2 malfunction is a charge threshold inbetween level 1 and level 3. The bombs also carry stronger values depending on the malfunction used. A level 3 bomb that is created from level 3 malfunction has significantly more blockstun and damage than a level 1 bomb that originates from a level 1 malfunction. Install breaks this rule however. The bomb levels do not matter anymore. Install bombs are always simply install bombs and always have the same damage, blockstun, and other properties, even if you do a level 1 malfunction. Malfunction/Bombs are the only specials to have this level property. Spin and Needle do not carry such characteristics.

Homing !H is not very exciting in neutral because it does a lot of what spike did, but more rewarding. Not worth losing 11 frames of advantage IMO.

I honestly lost interest in Bedman since that patch. The long blockstrings and guard crushes were by far the most interesting part about Bedman IMO. I don't care about the strength of the character being buffed, to me is was a nerf in terms of interesting playstyle, especially since playing neutral has always been extremely boring with Bedman anyway.
