The growth in Spencer is phenomenal!! I’m glad the writers didn’t rewrite history about how heartbroken Spencer was when he realized he was manipulated into further tearing apart his relationship with Nikolas. (Definitely majority of responsibility belongs to Nikolas) Spencer apologizing for what he sees as his faults and failures is a pure grownup move! So proud of him!! Nikolas looked shocked too because it’s something he’s barely seemed to learn and he’s middle aged.

I agree with you. Spencer has grown up, and the conversation between father and son was very emotional and needed to be said out loud so they both understood how relationships happen.

The way that Spencer initially looked at Nicholas when he first opened the door was a total misrepresentation of how the conversation actually went . Was excited on the Friday cliffhanger expecting fireworks between the two, but was pleasantly surprised. Who knew that Spencer would apologize...🤷♀️ As in life it takes growth to forgive.

"apolo-gee-whizz" was my response to this. I thought for sure he was going to slam him out the door the same way he knocked out Great Uncle Victor. This is remarkable to say the least. Phantom begins playing her interpretation of "I'm sorry" by John Denver beginning with pizzicato, then arco spiccato and becomes legato and portato as the conversation moves along. 👻🎻

Once in a blue moon, these permanent writers does show some promise in the way that they handle and shape a story. Such is the case with Nikolas and Spencer on the 1/15/24 episode. What an absolute joy it was to see the beautiful exchange between father and son. This is the first time that the dialogue between father and son did not involved them tearing each other's throat and ridiculing and belittling each other. Instead, their conversation was filled with genuine love, emotions and a sincere and newfound appreciation for each other. Spencer and Nikolas allowed themselves to be vulnerable today without hesitation. They were receptive to each other in a way that shows their mutual respect for one another, and how valued and loved they felt towards each other. I have to say that I have not seen that kind of bonding between Nikolas and Spencer before, but it was beautiful, touching, exciting and awe-inspiring. The calmed and peaceful way that both father and son addressed each other marked a milestone in their relationship and Spencer's amazing maturity since the days he threatened to deprive his father of custody. I am so enormously proud of both father and son for elevating their relationship to new heights that they both can be very proud of. It is obvious to me that Spencer knows evil Esme has her memories back, and that he will do anything to protect Ace from her. In that regard, I believe that Spencer not only have no further desire to raise Ace himself or function as his father, he is no longer obsessed with the child. He had no problems allowing his father to meet his younger brother, and was in fact eager to allow Nikolas to hold the child. That to me signals Spencer's desire to have Nikolas in Ace's life, minus all those fears that he had about Nikolas raising Ace. That right there, is total bad news for Esme...because when Nikolas announced that he came back to take both his sons out of Port Charles, I am convinced that Spencer will let him walk away with Ace willingly. Spencer now knows that his father will take good care of his brother, and you can see the fierced pride in his face for the first time. Of course Spencer will not leave with Nikolas because his first priority is the love of his life, Trina. You can tell that Spencer is ready for a future with Trina. After all, I have no doubt that part of Spencer's mature handling of his issues with his father stems from the fact that he is a happy, fulfilled and very satisfied man due to his relationship with Trina. It is truly amazing what the love of a great woman like Trina can do for a man. Little Ace reaching out for Nikolas to pick him up made both Spencer and Nikolas very happy. Little Ace putting his head on Nikolas' shoulder like it was familiar territory to him absolutely melt my heart. That child seems to instinctively know that Nikolas is an important figure in his life. Such a brave little soldier. I must say that I have never seen Ace that comfortable with his mother...it must be the evil that resides within that psychopath. After today, I personally want Nikolas to have full custody of his son and I think Spencer is also thinking along those lines. So how do we accomplish that! Well, I think Spencer will let Nikolas walk out of Laura's apartment with Ace. If it doesn't happen that way, Spencer can use the locked up evidence to blackmail evil Esme not only to prevent her from ever filing charges against Nikolas for holding her against her will, but to willingly give full custody to Nikolas, unless Ace is not Nikolas' son. If Spencer don't go that route, then now that evil Esme has her memories back, DA Scorpio is free to arrest and prosecute her for her crimes against Joss, Trina and Cam. That in turn could lead to a long term imprisonment for evil Esme, and her losing full custody to Nikolas. However the writers do it, I want Nikolas to get custody of his son and I think Spencer will fully support his father. Spencer is disgusted with Esme and now that she has her memories back, he will be on double duty to protect both Ace and Trina from the evil one. I read some spoilers that says that Esme will be in a panic all the rest of this week. I wonder if it is because Spencer let her father walk away with baby Ace, and Esme victoriously arrived at Laura's apartment to find her baby is gone (if it happens that way, I am sure that Spencer can come up with a false story about his father to explain Ace's absence to Laura and Esme). There are spoilers also that says that Spencer confessed to Laura. I imagine that Spencer's confession will have something to do with the absence of baby Ace and/or Spencer revealing Esme's memory is back or both. We have all heard that Trina and Spencer will have a major showdown with Esme this month. I wonder if it's about Esme having her memory back. I can 't wait for Spencer to let the cat out of the bag to Trina. Ooh, evil Esme is about to get raked over the coal. LONG LIVE SPRINA.

Loved these scenes. Top Tier acting by NAC and Adam. Curious why the writers did not make Nik tell Spencer why he left and Ava's involvement and that he wasn't able to communicate for months. Wonder when that will come out.

As i rewatch this scene so many months later (YES! I'm really missing #SPRINA y'all! & w NAC not coming back & no recast news, well, u no....) I come to see how romantic relationships can really affect a person in so many aspects of their lives. When Spencer was w Esme, he was rude, disrespectful, entitled & snobby. Already plagued w abandonment issues, she preyed on his insecurities & made him even angrier & more hateful than he already was. Esme got w him as part of her fathers"plans" then acted like she ended up falling for him 4real. Selfish, entitled, manipulative & extremely jealous as she was, She wanted to b his 1 & only. She would tell him that it was always just the 2 of them against the world. She would remind him that she had been the only 1 that was always there for him. That they were a team & only needed each other. & She caused him to be even further apart from his father than he had already been. Instead of helping him heal that relationship w Nik, she stoked his anger & caused an even greater divide. & Wen she slept w Nik, she took his anger & set it on🔥 🔥 🔥! FF to now that he is w Trina. As this scene proves, he has come such a long way from the sad, angry, hurting young man who came back from boarding school hellbent on revenge! Spencer has learned to forgive, to acknowledge his anger & his hurt, & to try to mend that giant emotional hole in his heart that is caused by his strained relationship w his father. Trina has never tried to b Spencer's 1 & only. She told him @ Pentonville that his friends wer waiting for him back home, her included. She told him on the HS on NYE that he has her, Joss, Cam & Britt. She always made sure to tell him how important his relationship w Nik was & how she believed they could fix w.e was broken. Trina loved him wholeheartedly for who Spencer was inside. Not the angry, entitled, snobby dick he acted like. Not the rich prince. But the kind, sensitive, genuine, loyal man he rarely let out for the world to see. Loving her, being loved by her in return (😉, 😉) gave him the courage to look w/in to find that hole & try to mend that broken piece of him ("You completed pieces of me that I never even realized needed to be completed "). Being w Trina, having the confidence that he has now, is why I think that he was able to b so openly honest w his father. Why he was able to humble himself, acknowledge his behavior & apologize. It was so beautiful to see how NAC gave that emotional "YOU WERE MY WHOLE WORLD! I LOVED YOU SO MUCH!" The Spencer who came back to PC from Europe would have never allowed any1 to see him so vulnerable and much less his father. This is true growth! & This is what I think that true, real, healthy romantic love can do for someone who feels like they r completely broken. It can heal them in more ways than one. Well, at least in the soap world it can. Lol ***MY OPINION ONLY***

Ryan and Esme can't be blamed for Nikolas and Spencer's failed relationship. They weren't even around when Nikolas made Spencer believe he was dead. And they never made him terrorize Spencer. Yes, Esme was seductive, but Nikolas was a frigging middle-aged man who slept with a fresh 18/19 year old.
