Okay I can appreciate how Gio & Trina are connecting over the loss of someone they've loved dearly. She's in a unique place and he can understand her. She doesn't feel alone or isolated in her grief. I just want Trina to have her own POV and life ....not just in background of Joss's life.

Hi Everyone: Thank you LMNN for the recap. Soooo how is Trina suppose to move on when memory's of Spencer are everywhere. Today with Gio's new hair cut I even saw glimpses of Spencer. These scenes were informative for both Trina and Gio. Trina learned that he lost his Mom at the age of 10 and he learned that Spencer and Trina shared a love of art. After seeing them in their first scenes alone I can see a good friendship developing. Like Trina and Cameron had. Trina in my opinion still needs her own storyline and we need to know more about Gio. I just have a feeling there is alot more to our Cute Violinist.

I am not sure how I feel about GH creating a bond between Gio and Trina because of the shared loss that they have suffered. It seems like lazy writing by the writers, as they could come up with much deeper reasons for bringing them together. The shared "loss of a love one" theme have a way of bringing people together for all the wrong reasons because the common loss gives them the false sense that they belong together or understand each other based solely on that shared common experience, and their belief that no one in their world can understand or identified with the subject experience, except for them. People losing love one's is not a unique experience. Those loss are a part of life, and often times when 2 people are experiencing such loss, they frequently mistakenly feel that they are undergoing a unique experience that others who are not in their positioned cannot possibly understand, thereby creating a natural tendency for them to migrate towards each other out of a sheer and shared appreciation of the depth of their loss. The danger here is the possibility that the seeking of comfort in each other at such a vulnerable time due to such shared major losses can actually be miscontrued as feelings of love for each other, when such a foundation never actually existed. If the writers intention is to give Trina a second chance at real love, they need to stop this lazy writing and built a solid foundation between Trina and Gio that goes beyond their loss of a loved one and their interests in the arts. Real love with the depth that Trina had with Spencer requires more than just a common interests and shared loss...it requires a deeper foundation based on Trina's readiness to actually move her life beyond Spencer, while honoring the memory and depth of that love (Sprina) and how it impacted her life and contributed to the woman that she is today...a woman who is opened to being love by another man (Gio) while still cherishing the memories of her past love who brought so much joy and meaning to the already beautiful life that she had chosen for herself. I believe that Trina could have something very beautiful with Gio, but in light of the strong feelings and attachments she still has for Spencer (rightfully so), a new chapter in her life with Gio in the mix must be handled with the care and balance that is appropriate to the situation. Otherwise, we will have to believe that GH is putting Trina and Gio together just to try to SHUT UP the Sprina fans. I will never accept such a deceptive act on the part of the writers. Trina and Tabyana deserves so much more. Anyway, that is my take at the moment.

Really appreciate the spirit of this post. There’s something lazy about the “loss bringing ppl together” concept. Yes, it happens. But what happens when that fades? Like you said, the show needs to give them something outside of shared love of the arts and dead loved ones. Tbh, they should’ve focused on building a story and background for Gio. And letting Trina regroup after watching the love of her life die. She still seems directionless and that’s hardly the time to entertain someone new. Also, there’s something that doesn’t sit right with me when movies/shows paint a guy as primarily being interested bc someone’s broken. She’s smart, beautiful, helped him get a job…but it’s her pain that sparks his interest 😐. I’ve seen this in plenty of shows and it always ends badly. And lastly, I’ll say that this does feel like a way to try and shut Sprina fans up. Give her someone new so we stop asking for a Spencer recast. Or for the ppl who are satisfied with her just having someone…

I’m a Sprina fan through and through and I want them back no more than every Sprina fan, but I’m also a Trina fan and very fascinated with HER- her stories, the soapyness of her life, how she copes, the fact that she has someone new, besides Joss, to talk to! I’m enjoying HER story and refuse to compare a masterpiece to a beginning of something else. While I agree that the writers are annoying af, I’m still rooting for her. Sometimes if truly feels like people only liked Spencer in the Sprina story, which by proxy liked her because she was paired with him, when it’s always been HER love interest, HER story that grew into a SPRINA story! Spencer was brought back to the show for Trina, so I’m not really surprised that Gio is also being brought on for her. Again, I CANNOT STAND THE WRITERS!!! But I only want to root for her even if it gets messy, this IS soap, and as long as we get to see her beautiful face with an interest specifically for her, I’m content. Until these idiots decide to bring the love of her life back, just give me Trina, even if she’s looking and talking about art! I like her alongside Sprina! And I’m open to this beginning of a new love story or possibly a place holder for her man to be back, and if NAC is like “I’m done for real”, we just have to accept it and hope the new Spencer recast will blow her socks off! But I’m also willing to give Gio a chance! It’s his messy beginning like everyone else on this flipping show!

I believe that the writers are just trying to make Gio some kind of recaranation of Spencer, so that Trina doesn't feel bad about moving on; I think that it's sad that she "bond" over a shared loss of a love, instead of a shared love for Art (Music is a form of art) you'd think since Trina thinks Gio playing the violin is beautiful, you'd think that's a great place to start a friendship and more.

He just encouraged her to use her *instrument* if it brings her joy… I understand how annoying it is that NAC is gone and we didn’t really get the closure we deserve or the happy ending Sprina deserved and how upsetting that is… believe me I do- I was literally crying when it happened, but I’ve also accepted the reality of what’s going on and just want Trina to be given a beautiful story and to be loved on. It’s still too early to cancel out Gio, people treated Taby like that initially as well, and look where we are! So all I’m saying is, the reality- NAC isn’t coming back atm (sucks I know)- Manz literally unfollowed Taby and all of GH, and deleted his fan account so I’m not holding my breath! Taby has barely been on screen- BARELY! In comes a potential love interest and boom she’s getting more screen time (I know- gross but oh well), they’re somewhat writing towards her grief, and Gio is being written for her… all that means to me is more Taby/Trina time and some soapy romance for her until Spencer (new cast or NAC) returns- if they even let that happen 🙄😭 and I don’t dislike Gio too!

The conversation about Trina and her story has been interesting. I will say this, I don’t think there’s a hierarchy when we talk about being a Trina fan. I’ve seen all types of takes and respect them even if I disagree. I’m no more a fan bc I want a Sprina reunion than someone who’s happy Spencer is dead. Fans have called for her to get better pov and story regardless. I only say that bc I’ve noticed a shift in the comments section lately that at times feels divided…Like what you want. But let’s do it in a way that doesn’t attempt to make some feel “less than” for their stance.

@@nfgc86 Yes and Amen to your point. Also found out that Gio is also friends with NAC. I just wished GH had written the story for Trina much differently after just losing Spencer. That story could have been a powerful story for Tabyana Ali. Many kept saying GH didn't know how to write for her. You do not see her having conversations with her parents or her grandpa but had more scenes with Aunt Stella. What you are saying is how I have been feeling.

@@marshagreen9759 Hi Marsha. Trina seems to be seeing a lot of Spencer in Gio. In fact, the writers seemed to have modeled Gio after Spencer. If you look at Gio at a certain angle, he does have a resemblance to Spencer in the early days before Spencer started to lift weight. It is surprising to me that Spencer and Gio knows each other in real life. I wonder if he recommended Gio for the role he is playing on GH. I find the whole thing real curious.

The powers that be are once again showing that they struggle with Trina's point of view and we needed more of her point of view minus Gio. I also think that it would help if the powers that be didn't feel the need to mention that Gio plays the violin. I highly doubt that we will have to hear that Jonathan Jackson is a musician every time that he's on-screen when he returns to his Emmy Award winning role as Lucky Spencer. Gio barely looks 18 and it shows when he's with Dex. I also think that Tabyana will be leaving GH when her contract expires early next year and the writing has been on the wall already for months as the powers that be have thrown the characters who are people of color in the background and I think that Trina is now basically playing a sidekick to Joss and Gio is basically playing himself on GH no acting ability needed.

@amusicfan25a21, I didn't know that Jonathan Jackson is a musician, I only started watching when SPRINA was launched. I like your comment and agree with you 100%. I am a SPRINA fan who loves both Spencer and Trina but if you agree as a fan that you don't see any chemistry with Trina and Gio, you are called silly SPRINA fans and I am not silly. I see what I see and think GH should have handled Trina's grief in more detail. I feel as if we all have an opinion and should be respected. My heart is saying we are missing little red flags about Trina and her recalling that art book that Spencer gave her and her wishing he would walk through the door. I want her to have a story on GH but not always play a sidekick to Joss, Dex, and Gio but let her be Trina. Trina is still grieving the loss of Spencer and her dealing with the loss could have been told differently by GH. GH has to do better about how people of color are written. We also forget that NAC asked that his role not be recast and why is this? Also in real life, he and Gio are friends. I am looking at things in a different way with hidden details that are in plain view and this is part of soap opera writing.

@@marshagreen9759 Yes, Jonathan Jackson has been a musician for years and you can see him perform on his prior t.v. show "Nashville." Gio is in a role where he is miscast and he looks like he's barely 18 and there are plenty of people who are actors or actresses who are talented musicians in real life but we don't have to awkwardly hear about it every time that they are on GH. The powers that be have had plenty of time to recast Spencer Cassadine but that hasn't happened and I think that the powers that be put Gio in an awkward position and set him up to fail and Trina deserves to be more than just to be Joss's sidekick or to prop up Curtis and now Gio and that reinforces my original thought that Trina's point of view and her feelings aren't important to the powers that be. I don't think that Tabyana will be staying on GH past her current contract which expires early next year. I think that Gio is meant to be a boring, sweet guy who won't upstage Dex but this is a soap opera and Gio is basically playing himself on GH and there's no tension here and when there's no tension then usually there's no screen time on a soap opera. Look at how TJ and Molly have been treated by the powers that be for years.

Gio is an amazing and talented violin artist in real life. Now I understand and I know Cameron is a musician but will check Jonathan Jackson out, already checked Gio out. Thanks for explaining.
