Then he never got around to walking way from his so called friendship from Sonny. Even bough he told Laura that he would. Well look how well hat turned out to be. If Laura did not shoot one of FS go ones Luke would have had a hole is his back. Luke was the one who thought he could help Laura when she was having a nervous breakdown. He never thought about his children he never gave them a second thought. Luke does what Luke wants. He did it his way you know old blue eyes he did it his way too. Wow look were that got him. Well all I can say is Good Luck with that!

@@kathylanda681 Yeau, one of the endearing qualities of Luke, back then, was that he wanted to protect Laura more than anything. I guess, like lots of marriages, he dropped that attitude once his "angel" became his, and the kids followed and he changed or Luke was always just thinking of himself.

I read the comment differently. He lost (what he became because of Laura i.e. better man), not ‘he lost what he became, because of Laura’ i.e he turned bad and it’s her fault not the writers choices.

Scotty was right about something here, Laura did have a history of running away from whatever she didn't want to face. The thing I loved best about her and Luke was that was when she found her spine and stood up for herself. I don't know if it's because he just wouldn't swallow her bs lies or because she grew up but she changed around him. It took a long time (well past this story) but she changed.

Genie Francis even Claudia and Brian excellent acting and great storylines i mean poor Luke having to marry a mobsters daughter to protect Laura and please frank smith don't. Know how Luke halanced it all. And handling all of lautas tantrums and. Stubbornish wanting to tell Scotty the whole truth. Scotty is. Trying. So so hard to get Laura to open. Up. Laura is struggling to keep her feelings bottled up about Luke from..everyone. Little does she know what's to come. On the sailboat on the day of the wedding. Luke is getting it from all ends jehjifer. How and not to forget bobbies constantly badgering. Luke about laura he's got a strong personality ni think. That's what Laura is attracted to. Your comment is very good because people really need to remember that when leaving comments calling her selfish. For some reason I am just not seeing Laura as being selfish. I see a young girl with so much emotional responsibility and having to keep it all a secret holding it inside of her, that she really does not know what to do. She wants to do the right thing, but what really is the right thing to do? It is a wonder that she didn't have a nervous breakdown. I do not know how I would handle all of this at 18 years old.

I love Scotty's concern for Laura here...I think it accounts for her loyalty to him. He cared about her. In a way, Scotty and Laura were a lot alike. They both wanted to do the right thing for their parents, each other, society. It took Luke's outlaw sensibilities to make Laura realize that treading the straight and narrow may be honorable, but it's not terribly exciting. Weirdly, Scotty went off the rails b/c of Luke, too. Shows what an impact one character can have on a story!

You are right Laura does run, but if Luke loved her he would have followed her to France...like my man Scotty did. I'm sorry if they were going to keep Luke with Tracy, they should have let Laura and Scotty stay together after France. Even then they made an adorable couple. In my opinion, Luke had already become a drunk and a big loser who said he never wanted kids or a family. It would have been interesting when Scotty and Laura remarried if they had kept them both on the show together to torment Luke. He could have seen what he had and lost. That would have been an epic storyline. I also think Scotty and Laura could have combined their kids and had a wonderful big family. Scott would have not had any resentment towards Nikolas like Luke did.

Hey Suse, did you notice the really pretty flower ring that Laura wears a lot of the time during this storyline and onto the sticky door one? I remember thinking how pretty it was during the time when Genie would do photo stills wTony. Anyway when Laura disappeared in early 82,I remember JT talking about her sis LT and saying she had a flower ring she always wore! I remember that really annoying me a lot, I would say to the tv, NO LAURA SPENCER WORE A FLOWER RING!! Its true! LOL!! I still to this day don't know why the writers did that!

Holly Golightly You need to watch the old episodes on youtube, before 2000. It seems to be that GF has been the target of ABC and even TG since she outed the drug and alcohol abuse on the set that led to her overdosing as a teen. She told the story about 2000 and she's been hated ever since though brought out in desperation when ratings slump. What better way to discredit someone than to make the "crazy" and catatonic so they would shut up and not say anything! And she killed her father! Lol!

However this whole thing with Ethan is too weird for me. The concern and look in Luke's eye is only there through the history of the character when he is talking about Laura. So I am not ready to give up the idea that is what Luke is thinking about. Have no idea how it relates to Ethan, but I think TG is showing us a connection. faith

I personally think Scotty should have considered moving sense he sees his wife living in fear of what he thinks is the rapist. Shouldn't her feelings come before working at his father's law firm and for Mr. Smith? I mean if you really notice Scotty is never around for his wife. Every time there was some significant issue Scotty would pass the buck off to Luke, Leslie,... Brian even, then say how sorry he was and how he'll never allow her to go through something without him again, then do it again. Any husband who paid real attention to his wife would have noticed that Luke and Laura were way too close, way too often. Even Claudia mentioned it. Laura was committed to holding on to her marriage, just not in a way that Scotty understood. If he would have taken 5 minutes to mull over all of the times that Laura was trying to put him and their marriage first instead of accusing her of an affair they could have worked it out. I still think if Scotty hadn't left her, she would have stayed with him even after sleeping with Luke in Beecher's Corner. Laura fell deeply inlove with Luke almost by force, and dare I say be default. Still my all time favorite couple though.

I love Laura but couldn't figure out why everybody on the she does like Brian, Amy, Claudia. Etc.... Because is so self centered she constantly snaps and is rude to ppl. She's so spoiled. Luke is so mean to Bobbie and vice versa. They actually seem like brother and sister. And for a college student Laura sure misses a lot of school

Scotty was so sweet back then but very controlling. I'd really like to see the Bobbie , Laura and scotty storyline come together again. And I'd really like Jennifer thrown in the mix. They and Tracy would be an interesting group
