(wouldn't you give anything to see this Luke Spencer current day... only get a glimpse when he is discussing Ethan..hmm which is weird.. or Ethan has something to do with Laura. That's the only time we have ever seen, in the history of the character this level of emotion from him....I digress...OH yeah I DO NOT want to talk about current day GH!!) There were few -if any - male actors on daytime during this time who displayed such intense emotion as Luke. There was a lot of old 1950s stereotypical character acting going on. I think we have Tony and Gloria Monty to thank for this new kind of blatant male passion on display.

I think he does come across as a little boy, crying and having a temper tantrum for something he wants and can't have. He was quite a schemer back then, and was able to manipulate Laura to do and say what he wants. TG's a great actor, but he is cast to be a low-life, and he succeeds.

It is so clear from these just how bad Luke wanted children, Laura's children. The rewrite they did of him later to say he didn't want to be married or have children was such garbage. Everyone who watched this real time knew that it was Luke, more than Laura, who was pushing for marriage and children. Also, he's convinced now that she loves him but either can't admit it or doesn't even realize it herself and he's not going to let her get away with it. Everyone else let Laura hide and lie but never Luke. He never accepted that from her.

Laura was a child... of 17 or 18... she grew into an amazing woman. Yes Luke helped her go there... but she kept him alive basically...he always had the potential to spiral way out of control without her to ground him. They were a prefect ying/yang fit. They were a classic great team.

GH has always been the best soap ever. The cast back in late 70’s, 80’s 90’s were fantastic. Story lines galore. TG and GF just made it more exciting and wonderful to watch with their love affair on the screen. They were fantastic together, boy I miss those days. Their characters played off each other with ease, not a beat was missed. You can see the amazing connection they had together, it was just so easy, nothing forced.

Now all day she's been texting to see where I'm at in the web. :D I love this. @entertainme3000 I personally never really saw him as threatening.. just really intense, and passionate (not meaning that in a romantic way, but just intense with focus about a specific topic).His anger/intensity usually stems from concern more than it does any kind of ego and self involvment. I think that is what most people, who it doesn't bother, see back then. Laura grabs him a few times in a fit as well. They are both very intense, passionate,people and I think they understand each other.

Hope I don't get killed for this, but I've always thought the Laura character was such a child. The Luke character, however, was so much older and full of character and charisma, and obviously rocked her socks off with seduction, but....other that her beauty, she was kind of a ding a ling at times..... but I always say, no matter, we're hooked on this! She was a child..just 16-17 when Luke started putting the moves on her. I always thought Luke saw her as a prize, a beautiful trophy, just out of reach. He was infatuated with her beauty; he didn't seem to care about her personality or maturity. He was more than obsessed, he was possessed!

The thing that troubles me about Luke's thinking in this scene is when he says that Laura didn't leave Scottie because she "betrayed" him with Luke... I guess (?) this is where the rewrite is coming along, because he is not acknowledging the rape here, only that somehow they had a liason in his mind which almost resulted in a child, and that he thinks that Laura looks at it as a time when she was "unfaithful" to her husband. It seems delusional on Luke's part here, and is unsettling, like something a stalker might think. I hate putting this out there, because I don't mean it in a negative way, just observing it...

@@katydalton4759 Yes, they were just going with the rewrite, as faithful actor/actress employees, diligently (and with excellence!) churning out the product, as it was instructed to them to do by the writers/producers, etc. but it is interesting to see the most recent interview with Nancy Grahn, on her new soap program (soaps in quarantine?) where TG says he just wanted to cup his hands to his mouth at the time, and shout to everybody, "It was rape, people!" Cute interview and interactions between him and Nancy:)) from about a month ago...

Luke was confused, one time he describe what happened as brutal rape, another time he would refer to it as making love. It’s consistent with how TG thought Luke felt at the time of the “rape”. That it was a dream until the realisation set in,

They were formally introduced end of March 1979, just before Laura's hearing about ending her probation. She was so preoccupied that she barely noticed him, but Luke commented to Brian, that she was beautiful. I think that is the moment Luke is referring to. So about 14 to 15 months before this.

You are right, they were waiting to go see judge. Luke was transfixed when he met her. Bryan gave him a side-eye look when Luke said she's even prettier than her 📷. That was turning point when he stopped Bobbie from hurting Laura and why he went to college so he could be able to talk with special people, Laura for example.

I have watched this countless times, and yet just come across a niggling detail in Luke's "plan" - so if he calls Scotty, and says Hey - Jennifer's car is being repaired so I need you to help go pick her up, (freeing Luke up to go get Laura from school) won't Scotty just say Why don't you go get Jennifer yourself? (Seeing as Luke is free to go get Laura, won't Scott think Luke is just as free to get Jennifer?) Won't it look weird for Luke to switch places with Scotty (Scott getting Jennifer and Luke getting Laura, instead of the other way around) maybe I missed something...
