In Urdu ghazals, along with the love and beauty Ghalib added all the facets of life. Because of him the canvas of Urdu ghazal became very extended.
Since Ghalib was very occupied with Persian, in his earlier couplets he used difficult words and his flight of imagination was such that..."either you (Ghalib) understand or the God (Khuda) understands". Later, he changed his pattern to easy poetry and thus made it much convenient for poetry lovers to understand his poetry.
Ghalib was not a philosopher but he questioned things around him. "when there is no one besides you; then oh God why is this pandemonium?"
جبکہ تجھ بن نہیں کوئی موجود
پھر یہ ہنگامہ اے خدا کیا ہے
One also finds naughtiness in his writings, he makes fun of everything thing and everybody including himself. "when the women are million years old what I will do with that paradise!"

پروفیسر صاحب ، آپ کی نکتہ سنجی اور سخن فہمی میں کوئی کلام نہیں اور پھر تشریح و تحسین کا انداز بھی بڑا دلنشین ھے۔۔۔۔۔۔۔مگر غزل کے دوسرے شعر کے مصرع ثانی کو دیکھ کر اور آپ کی زبان سے سن کر تعجب ہوا۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔اس فقیر کے خیال میں "تیرا پتہ نہ بتائیں" کی جگہ "تیرا پتہ نہ پائیں " ھے۔ "بتائیں" کہنے سے مصرعہ آہنگ سے خارج ہو جاتا ھے اور دوسری بات یہ کہ اس سے مطلب بھی درست نہیں نکلتا۔۔۔۔۔۔حالی کا حوالہ سننے کے بعد اس جسارت پر معذرت خواہ ہوں۔۔۔۔۔۔دوبارہ غور فرمائیے گا ، جواب کا انتظار رہے گا !
