The Black Star Honorees
1. Agya Koo Nimo:
A true legend-a cultural custodian whose melodies tell the story of Ghana’s rich heritage. Known as the father of modern palm-wine music, he has preserved and enriched Ghanaian folk music for over six decades, inspiring countless musicians and ensuring our traditional sounds live on for generations. His work reminds us of the power of storytelling through music.
2. Kwabena Kwabena
A man who has redefined contemporary Ghanaian highlife music. A master lyricist, a voice of passion, and a symbol of love, this icon has carved a legacy of soul-stirring music that connects people across the globe.
With a career spanning decades, his timeless hits remind us that music is the universal language of the heart.
3. Chief Dele Momodu
A journalist, publisher, businessman, and statesman. The visionary behind Ovation International, he has told the African story with pride and authenticity, amplifying voices across the continent.
He is a symbol of pan-African excellence, demonstrating the power of media to inspire, inform, and unite.
4. Bibie Brew
A vocal powerhouse and international star whose artistry has taken Ghana to the world stage. She is the soulful singer whose timeless hits like “Tout Doucement” have captured hearts across Europe and Africa, and remains an inspiration to generations of musicians.
As a mentor, advocate, and icon, she has elevated African music and paved the way for future stars.
