The second time we had to bring a reputable local to sign and vouch for us. The 3rd time we paid for and picked up our passports with the residency stamp in it. @nkhosiamankhosi14543 жыл бұрын
As good as that sounds it’s honestly impossible. Why? Simply because African regions are easier to access by regional citizens then it’s broken down to countries. You need to remember that 54 sovereign states have their own independent laws. Even a citizen of a neighboring country has it tough to settle if they try to move migrate. AU has no mandate to make a uniformed law on the continent. That’s not what it’s charter upholds.

Lol by and large and I see you both as highly intelligent and, more importantly, balanced in your world view. Really do appreciate your vlog on Ghana as do many other Ghanaians. I don't speak for the government but it's important you know where we're at and where we've come from in your analysis. We see you and see how you want to be 'freer in life and so why you choose to emigrate to another African country such as Ghana. Firstly, the call to the African diaspora is genuine - hopefully you also reached that conclusion as you've lived and interacted with locals (ordinary people). Ghana has always had the ideology of 'helping' unite people of African origin and the continent as a whole (you know this from the pioneering role of President Nkrumah). The citizens have also bought into this ideology - by and large - over the years since our independence. However, as a nation we are underdeveloped in many areas. We lack clean drinking water still in half of every rural town in the country. We still haven't yet been able to consistently supply and bring electricity to at least 20-25% of the population. We don't as yet have all our urban roads and streets paved and with safe walkways for pedestrians. We don't have every child of school age going to school. We aren't able yet to organise ourselves so that local governments and local authorities provide housing and shelter for the most vulnerable, families with young children and people with disabilities. The list goes on but these are just a few, as I'm sure you've seen. The problem we find ourselves today in growing the Ghanaian economy while also building a new modern nation that lives up to the ideals of our founding fathers is how does one attract serious investment (FDI mostly) and international skills transfer at the same time as trying to upgrade our way of life (for the average citizen) and help move us all on to reach that modern nation (developed) status. The problems you talk of here are largely 'developmental'. It may be 'nonsense' and confusing to the average educated African-American who seeks 'a better life' but it is what it is because of the stage in our development cycle that we happen to be in. In other words, Ghana and Ghana's government may be socially progressive somewhat in ideologies but still lack all the basic disciplines and and systems that an American may take for granted today. Indeed, there is some truth in theories of the government (governments in Africa as a whole) being in it to just make money for their individual and selfish interests. But even this view or way of thinking on our part should tell you at what stage we are in our development. So, essentially, what I wish to say to you is that Ghana needs developmental assistance even in this area of a fair and 'progressive immigration and settlement policy'. One that meets our ideological aims as a gateway to Africa for African diasporans, no less and so we must balance our own selfish need for things and systems to be 'more modern and work as they should for us because you called us down' with the reality of the stage in our development as country that we happen to be in. Always be slow to think less of your own needs (even as a group) and quick to think more of where the nation and peoples are and then see if it is profitable to see if you can do a little more to assist us get to where things will work for ALL of us together - for we too suffer the same hardships as local citizens. And by the way, Ghana's call or invitation is not for every diaspora to come and settle in Ghana but to come to Africa. Africa as a whole is your oyster. Help us make Africa work and great - that is what fundamentally the call is about. Because when Africa is great and works you too will reap all its benefits. Thanks for the opportunity to add my two cedis.

I'm glad you have called them out on their BS. People managing these institutions dont seem to know how to operate in the 21st century or how to run a business. No matter how bad they perform, they will get a paycheck at the end of the month (no performance review or customer satisfaction ) As much as I want to hopefully come and live in Ghana in the near future, I get really demoralized when I realize that this incompetence is still the norm.

I have been going to Ghana since I was a university student in the 1970's and attended the U of Ghana for a year during the Busia administration. Sadly, what I have learned is that money is the name of the game no matter where and what. Also, sometimes for us AA's, just going there from the States is such a relief from the stress we undergo living here, we forget Ghana is very much like most countries in this regard. And Ghanaians are like most people no matter where we go in the world. It's always wise to temper our expectations with the situation's reality. There is no heaven on earth even if we insist on wanting to believe the opposite is the case. Things will work out for you and yours. And your advice "to visit" before making that huge move, is a word from the wise to others planning to do so. I appreciate your honesty very much. What the Internet has wrought, both good and bad, huh?

Right Now, The UK need skilled truck drivers, they are going to make things easier for qualified European Truck drivers. If you want to succeed in Business, you have to make things easier for people to come. I have been following for months now, with Wode Maya, The Acheampong family that, finally left, Vanessa Kambi and others. They have all given me a taste of different aspects of Ghana. A Ghana that I am sure many Ghanaians don't even know because they do not have the means to travel for pleasure. A luxury that some people from the diaspora can afford. So yes even if I come and spend the little my Pounds, euros or dollars in Ghana, it is still contributing with my LITTLE means to the Ghanaian economy at my own level. That is hows Israel was built. Devoted women and men contributing at small levels until a Nation was born. I would love to visit Ghana with my children who don't know Africa and who knows may invest on a long term basis. But yes if the paper work is discouraging, the I will go elsewhere.

The UK voted to exit the European Union not to long ago and it was largely because many British people did not want people from Europe (Eastern Europe especially) to keep coming to the UK as freely as they did. This way they are creating a system more like Australia and Canada where they allow entry based on the need of society at that time.
