Have you been to the port lately? The corruption at the port we experienced under Mahama is now professionally practiced. I don't know whether to call them agents or gorro boys but they actually run the port not the Officers in their offices. Last year we went to clear a vehicle from the port and it took an intervention of a sympathetic High Officer to eventually get clearance. The demurrage trap alone can end up causing one to lose their property.

Over taxing is the issue. The same is with the cocoa. Ghana pays less for our cocoa beans compared to Ivory Coast. The best way to attract and grow businesses in Ghana is to cut taxes. Cut taxes and spread the tax net. Swift punishment for those who still want to evade taxes after the tax cut and transparency in the tax system so tax officials who engage in any corrupt practices can also be punished severely. That is the best way to boost the economy. Currently, our hotels are more expensive than most of the hotels in the western world. Why???? Same over burden tax system which is forcing the hoteliers to also pass it on those who stay there. If the country seriously implement this and digitize the system efficiently so less physical cash is used, we can move majority of the citizens to the middle income class.

It's unfortunate GPHA is now taking a cutthroat Charges and Taxes to killing the patronage businesses. And as a result, the business has to overturn to neighboring 🇹🇬 TOGO. "Businesses are meant for profits and not looses".

If you have hundreds of levies and taxes on one good, what do you expect?
