People confuse Asante and Akan. Akan is like a big circle ⭕️ and within that circle are Akan groups. That’s Akans live in groups not tribes. Asante is one of the groups within the circle and it’s the biggest group within Akan but Akans together is bigger than Asante. These groups are not tribes, Akans belong to one tribe and that’s the Akan tribe. So example: Fante, Bono, Akyem, Asante, Kwahu, Nzima, Denkyira, Akwuamu, Akuapem, Ahanta….etc etc are all one tribe but different groups, and Twi is the language of the Akans. Which is most widespread language in Ghana. Fantes speak Twi with Fante intonation. Bonos speak Twi with Bono intonation. This is Akan for beginners.
