Fast forward in the 90s when it transitioned to democratic rule, the West made loans and grants available, but the critical question to this day is, to what benefits have these monies been to the majority of Ghanaians? Burkina Faso recently turned down financial support from the West, with the hope that they will utilise their meagre resources judiciously. Sadly , you cannot say same for a resource rich country like Ghana, which is reeling under debt and squandering their resources. Your analogy is weak.

Speculations aside, this makes logical and strategic sense. As a Ghanaian I know there is substantial number of Burkinabes in Ghana especially in the main commercial areas like Accra. On the surface it might appear this is in the interest of Ghana but my view is this is ultimately sensible and beneficial to both countries with Ghana showing and displaying the 'mature' and senior role of collaboration and respect to each other. I applaud Nana Addo the experienced Ghanaian statesman for this move to monitor and keep a close eye on the security challenges in the Sahel region.
