actually hindi or marathi or telugu r very similar in root words as they r inspired from sanskrit, ....it is just that bollywood is occupied by muslim writers, who use urdu or arabic worrds, hence it sounds ugly

This is one of my all time favorite songs, original was sung by Lata Mangeshkar from the movie Amar Bhupali and music was by late Vasant Desai who was an old family friend of ours. He passed away in a tragic elevator accident in 1977 or 1978, was regarded as the greatest music director ever other than the late Ga Di Madgulkar Sudhir Phadke. Jackson, Mississippi.

I am a Gujarati and have tremendous respect for Maharashtra and her poets, saints, artists and thinkers (not to forget the cricketers also). Some of them have contributed hugely to Gujarati literature and academics. Like someone else has mentioned, I also grew up hearing this song on "Bombay A" radio station in the happier times when radio ruled the roost. I salute the poet, the singers and the music composer for this melodious number. Fortunately, I even enjoy the wordings of Marathi.
