I see what you mean about FEH content, I think it's the divide not only between the FEH playerbase and mainline Fire Emblem, but also the divide between people who come here for heavily edited content (ie support science or videos about obscure FE moments) and those who want let's plays. I'd definitely enjoy more videos from this series because I think the way FEH can expand on existing lore through Forging Bonds and what-if units is one of the best contributions it will have to the FE series going forward. I'd love to hear your take on all the heroes who are given life again in Askr or are able to meet people they never could in their old lives (recently Legendary Sigurd was a really exciting what-if and I wonder how it could be connected to the secret event in Chapter 9) if you're looking for ideas.

She just resorts to any method needed to ensure quick victories because she feels she lives on borrowed time due to her twin crest situation. It's super rare, but it's there. In Book 4 there's a scene where Alfonse (? might be misremembering) dreams up the Summoner's world, and in one of Miriel's forging bonds conversations (don't know if it existed at the time of this video's release when you left your comment, but it sure does now) where she's figuring out how falling objects works and doing experiments in Askr, she's advised to talk to the Summoner since they're super knowledgeable. In the next support conversation, she has an existential crisis because there exists a world where it's known that objects fall at an accelerating rate of 9.80665 meters per second (same as Midgar) and is common knowledge among many, many other things that she painstakingly went throught the trouble of verifying. Those glimpses of the Summoner's world being the real world and Kiran being just a dude with the weirdest fashion sense ever are super cool

I definitely agree how FEH can be amazing for expanding on characters. I wish Forging Bonds had more supports or perhaps a new mode in the future for more interactions with other characters. I love how she talks with Mila, but I'd still love to see interactions with Duma, Alm, and others. Perhaps even with those faithful with their own god(s), discussing their opposite viewpoints. Alm in particular would be interesting because he wouldn't have worked with "Those Who Slither In The Dark," thinking it necessary or right to sacrifice so many in order to change the world. Part of the reason I love Claude is due to how he agrees with some of Edelgard is aiming for, but stands up against her for she had gone down the wrong road that leads to too much bloodshed when there are other ways to fix Fodlan.

This is my take on how F!Edelgard's exlcusive effects in FEH can be mapped to traits she has in Three Houses: - The Slaying effect comes from the slightly increases Crit in Twin-Crests power - The extra action comes from the Twin Crests ability - Distant Counter comes from the Counterattack ability - Special Fighter (decrease opponent's cooldown charge while increasing her own) comes from the Vital Defense barrier ability, which prevents her from being crit'ed, while she herself retains a relatively high crit chance, especially when the Wrath ability is unlocked and active - The healing comes from the fact she is in a Throne tile, which heals her every turn - The damage reduction comes from the barrier ability as well. And it is once per phase, since she only has one tile of barriers, and as such she can get exposed after one hit (assuming the conditions for the battle in 3H allow the player's units to break her barrier in one hit instead of two) The ones that lack some clear mapping are: - The +2 Atk buff when transforming, as she is always transformed during the final fight. This is more of a universal mechanic for Beast units in FEH than something specific to Edelgard. Although you can see the change in stats between Edelgard's final form and the ones she has in her previous encounter as the source of this buff. - The Wary Fighter effect (preventing her own follow-ups while also preventing those of the opponent) does not exist in Three Houses. Some people say 3H Quick Riposte is like Wary Fighter, but it is actually more like an omni-Breaker FEH skill (prevents foe's follow-up while giving you a guarantee follow-up). MAYBE it is a balanced way to implement the Monster Effect-Null she has in Three Houses. (Having built-in immunity against Beast-effectiveness would be broken when she can equip immunity against Armor-effectiveness without sacrificing too much). - The in-combat debuffs she inflicts to her foe's Atk/Def. The only skills in Three Houses that debuff the foe's stats during combat are Heartseeker and similar abilities (which debuff Avoid), and the enemy-exclusive skills like Agarthan Technology, which essentially debuffs adjacent foe's Atk by 3. Hegemon Edelgard doesn't have any of these. So yeah, this may be the one skill that FEH added to make F!Edelgard fit in the meta, as this effect has become quite common in recent units that are designed to be tanky.
@cl0k33 жыл бұрын
I really think the conversation not being with duma was a missed opportunity for F! edelgard's forging bonds. Mila's cool and all, but I would've like to seen F!edelgard's "Humans are strong, ergo might makes right (and humans have no need of gods)" perspective. contrasted with duma's "Humans are weak, ergo might makes right (so that humans can maybe become stronger") perspective. I personally would've found that contrast more interesting, as its ironic how both figures believe in the same thing, but categorically look down on each other.
@shizachan8421 Жыл бұрын
Edelgard does not believe in might makes right though. She enver indicates that much. What she opposes is a system in which might is distributed based on birthright and the mighty will always stay mighty and the weak will always kept weak, while she wants a world in which people can rise or fall based on their merits. In Edelgards ideal world, somebody like Dorothea would not need to whore herself out to gain any opportunity in life to rise to a better station while somebody like Dimitri would not enjoy the privelege of everything and everyone sacrificing themselves to protect him from failure and the consequences of his actions, just because the system is constructed for him to be allowed to fail his way upwards, just because he has the right crest.

What would've been interesting is that you could include other characters to compare with that have similar philosophies/views and how they contrasted in means of executing them. Since this video was about F!Edelgard, then Alm and Duma would've been excellent choices to use as comparison (of which the two were mentioned in the comments just to name a few).

This video was very enjoyable. the forging bonds has easily been the best part of FEH and they are slowly getting their main book story to focus on... the story. I would love to experience more videos on this

I'd be interested in more of these videos. I barely play FEH, but I keep up with the news because I like the new art and lines for characters. I didn't know supports were in the game, so more of these videos would be a good way to hear about them

I liked it so much, I do think its a good reflection of Edelgard! That "tall buildings and ... Functioning societies" Was it on purpose or a recording issue? It fits so well. After all the world that Edelgard wants to create is a world similar to the summoner's but we all know that the summoner's world has been built on conflict and bloodshed where unlike most the fire emblem worlds where you know that you are the good guy because you are you follow the good god and they are the evil guy because they are following the god bent on destruction (Except for Tellius) In the summoner world everyone believes that they are fighting for the right cause and the future generations are the ones tasked to cast a biased judgment on all bands in hindsight

I think Dimitri and Mila hit the nail on the head. Edelgard would more than likely become the very thing she set out to destroy had she won in that state. In CF she has a lot of people rallying behind her, they keep her from losing heart and allow her to realize she doesn't have to shoulder the burden alone. It also means she can rest in peace when her shortened life span comes to an end as her ideals will live on in other people, and possibly her children if she marries. With this version in AM's endgame she's got nothing left. Most of her allies are dead, she's been taking loss after loss since Byleth joined the enemy's side and her gambit to boost her forces with those who sliver in the dark hasn't paid off, and they'll still be around free to do as they please if she falls. A drive to fight for the future she believes in is all that's holding her together but like her appearance it's become warped. Had she turned the tables and won like this she would have likely gone to great lengths to seize as much control as possible and break down and silence any and all opposition to prevent the possibility of coming so close to losing it all ever again, while probably still claiming she has all of humanity's best interests in mind but really only believing in herself to get things done. Basically very similar to what Rhea was doing at her lowest.
@shizachan8421 Жыл бұрын
There is also the aspect that Edelgard is only ever going that far in Azure Moon. So it isn't really just Byleth joining the enemies side that pushes her to this, as her social situation in Silver Snow is even worse, considering that all of her friends but Hubert and Jeritza abandon her there. The difference actually seems to be Dimitri. She seems to be able to consider Byleth and Claude both to be worthy challengers over who decides the future of Fodlan. In Both routes, she stays human to the end and accepts her defeat, only being melancholic that she didn't got the opportunity to walk with Byleth but otherwise dying peacefully. Its Dimitri who seems to fail to pass her judgement, so she rather sacrifices her humanity and becomes the Hegemon Husk than see him becoming the ruler of Fodlan. It is something I think people misrepresent because they want to glorify Dimitri as the main character and fail in the trappings of the routes narrative flaws, when the narrative very clearly even in his own route shows the trappings and flaws of the system they live in and which Dimitri preserves, namely that it is specifically build to protect Dimitri from failure and have everyone and everything around him sacrifice their innocence, morality and convictions just for him and him only to succeed. He can't rise up on his own, he has to be dragged up at the expense of others. So I think the Hegemon Husk isn't really a show that Edelgard is willing to do everything to archieve her goals, otherwise she would have done exactly the same in Verdant Wind and Silver Snow, but that Dimitri so much represents everything she hates, even more than Rhea does, to the extent that she feels the need to sacrifice herself to protect the world from a future dictated by him.

I really really enjoyed this video. I love Edelgard myself, and how interesting she is as a character. She has so much depth, but at the end of the day, is truly flawed in her way of thinking. The forging bonds convos are really cool, and provide a narrow minded individual like Edelgard a chance to have her motives questioned by people in the positions of power she despises. I'd love to see more stuff like this in the future.

I really loved the support between Edelgard and Mila because I felt that - finally - Edelgard is gonna have to properly TALK to someone on the opposing side of her conquest (AKA a god/dragon). That being said, I saw on Twitter that someone mentioned that they think the support would've been more interesting if they'd thrown Grima at her instead of Mila and I kind of agree. A human who despises gods and a god that despises humans would have interesting banter, I think - especially when you consider that Edelgard turned herself into something inhuman to accomplish her goals and by possessing Robin, Grima technically became human to accomplish his. (Now I haven't played Awakening yet - so correct me if I'm wrong, I just went to read on Grima briefly after seeing that comment. I'm a fairly new Fire Emblem player, started with Three Houses and am making my way backwards so I don't know most of the lore outside 3H and am trying to avoid too many spoilers. LMAO.) As for the video, I think it's a FANTASTIC concept and you should keep doing them! For the most part, the only time I see anyone talking about FEH is either to talk stats or to bash on it for the art or the info screen dialogue or the forging bonds or the game modes, ect. It really seems like the majority of people who play the game, hate it and it gets me kind down because I think there's great content to be had in FEH and people just aren't giving it a chance because they write it off as a "cheap cash grab" so it makes me happy to hear that someone actually enjoyed the content like I do and I'd like to see more, but that's just me!
