Brand new to POE, wasted about 40 hours and 500k gold (before respec cost reduction got patched) on one of this guys “best” builds, did so because heaps of views and subs so must be legit? Hit maps… couldn’t clear past a way stone 2-3, completely bricked. Put down the game for almost a week - no real motivation to return. Luckily friend is long time POE1 man, sends me to Ghazzy, lily, ziz, jung, ruetoo, ben etc. and talks me into having another go. Rerolled, started from scratch in SSF on your srs/arsonist build, actually learned about the game and have multiple other toons blasting without following guides because you actually explain concepts on stream and know what you’re talking about. Deathless up to maps first try. This dude is toxic AF for new players, undeniably. You and lily doing gods work. Thanks to the real creators and the OG players for pointing us noobs in the right direction.

I used to watch RageGaming for D4 content, mainly the guy who covers Sorc builds just to have something to compare my build to and further optimize until I figured out he was “most likely” copying and pasting builds from another creator named Mekuna (may have spelled his name wrong) and actually making his builds worse. I’m sure this happens more often than not but Rage is famous for labeling every build guide as “NEW BEST THIS” when it’s not even close to being the best.

The monster hunter stuff is pretty solid though as thats the core focus of the channel. But most other things are spotty. Went from new best Sorceress build in the game to oh it’s the best build specifically tied to a certain build.

Thanks for what you said GhazzyTV. Few years ago when i started to play POE that was exactly what happened to me. I was watching that kind of click bait videos and wasting my time following guides in them. It was bad experieance and i remember feel super flustrated after i trying like 3 of them each one after spending time to finish campaing. None of them worked and ultimately i ended up stop playing POE for few years because i had no fun and was thinking that I'm bad player. I decided to play POE again around year ago after being dissopointed with D4. Only after i started watching good guides from You, Conner Converse and Pohx i started realized what my problem was. I also started to understund how to recognize good guide. I built my first two amazing characters, had good atlas progression and even beet some ubers. But most importantly I had good time playing two last POE leagues. Some people who have not experieance what i described might not understund your reasoning but you are right. Stay awsome.

It would be different if their videos were titled in a way that represented the content but instead it’s always “ #1 best one shot super op etc. “ Then even after the build turns out to not be that good, they leave the title as is because it’s still going to pop up in people’s searches. It can take a good amount of time and effort to get a build going in POE2 and there are going to be a ton of new players who will follow their guides, wind up struggling in end game, and then find out that their super OP uber build is mid.

@@annereilley4892 the main negative part of his lightning skeleton vid, is that any doryani build, costs more than most players can afford, and if you cant get a doryani setup then the build does not actually work as it is set up to do, since it's not a minion guild, and more of a doryani build with minions. Other than that, i think the only fault/bad part of the actual build, is that armour is shit, and that lightning d-generation/dot exist, which completely counters the doryani chest

All I gotta say is I went to play Ghazzy's dark pact necromancer back in PoE1 and I was struggling with some stuff I sent him a direct message on discord fully not expecting him to respond. Thats not what happened he was tired after a long stream and still took the time out to look at my PoB and let me know about what I wasn't really understanding and helped me take my build from one I wanted to throw in the trash to one that I loved. My experience with PoE content creators is they care about the player base and want everyone to blast. I stand behind the OG creators.

I do disagree with the Tourist-comment. If you translate it to real life it would be the equivalent of visiting a neighbouring city whenever there is a big event going on. Surely you will get to know the city quite well once you are staying over for a few days or a week. But the residents understand the in and outs of the city, the know the local butcher, they which alleyway is shortcut etc etc. Maybe they get upgraded to a frequent visitor, but that, IMO, is maybe a tourist+. Like someone returning to the same city for holidays every year. But people who play this game almost exclusively, those are the residents. Nothing wrong with tourists or frequent visitors. But IRL those people wouldnt dream of claiming and advertising that they know the city best and can take you on the best city tours. They would come, visit, participate and maybe even make a video about how cool something is; showing the best parts of the city. Make cool snapshots of what they have done and how much they enjoyed it. They would receive quite a bit of criticism if they claim to know the most effective way to navigate life in the city.

i think this happens in real life as well. Videos on KZbin or Tiktok about best place in Prague, Tokyo, etc etc comes from Tourists, not locals. This also goes for hobbies. You can see several hobbies (40k for example) as a small town built by the people who loved the hobby from the start. I knew this was going to happen, I noticed it back in D4 and didn't mind as much because it's really hard to mess up a build, then I saw they were doing the same thing with Throne and Liberty and it annoyed me because you can actually brick your build and lose so much time if you are not being efficient. When I saw that they were trying to do the same thing with PoE 2 I knew they were gonna get chewed and spat out of the community, it's not about being 20% more or less efficient, but they are actually damaging the experience of new players who don't know any better by giving them misinformation because of these click bait titles.

You cannot reach the same powerlevel in PoE2 as in PoE1, so that comparison is meaningless. Mirror Tier gear is unoptainable in both games for almost everyone, so that comparison is equaly meaningless. The only meaningful metric for a game like PoE is, how easily you can explore all content, and with how little there is in PoE2, the game is much much shorter for now.

I think there's a concern here that isn't being talked about and actually the reason they're talking past each other. I think it's because they don't even make their thumbnails or video titles, that is probably outsourced to an editor, they may not even know that's what the video is "claiming to be" based on the title, because from their perspective they just recorded a bunch of content covering their build and explaining it, and the thumbnail generating tool or outsourcing slapped clickbait on it to get traffic.

I think the situation as a whole has probably just turned into a mountain from a mole hill honestly. I understand lily and Ghazzy takes on how POE media is made and handled. A lot of new people aren't as informed on how bad MOST POE guides were back in the day and the effects it had on player counts once builds were bricked. I think everyone I have met and talked to in POE has either fallen for a bad build guide or know someone who got a bricked bad build and quit a season or the game as a whole. Rage gaming is a great channel that has been making content for a very long time and mostly are just entertainers that were just using methods that work for other games. They aren't the crazy time attack meta gamers even in Monster Hunter their main game. I think a change of titles would help a lot and squash all of this and I feel it was unfair to call their content garbage. Hopefully the community grows and we keep learning together.

These guys are coming from games like D4, Monster Hunter, even Elden Ring and such where you can have a really terrible build but its fine because the game isnt forcing you to have a really really well crafted build. But in PoE this isnt the case. Now you can view this as a good thing, or you can view this as a problem with PoE2. Should a game they intentionally marketed towards a more casual audience and said they wanted the game to be new player friendly be such a TERRIBLE experience if you homebrew a build or are just using a bad build? So.... I think this is maybe the second video I've seen where Ghazz has offered criticism, and I have to appreciate that he seems like someone who is very willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt. I kinda think that he was too quick to do this with Rage Gaming. Much of what they said here wasn't entirely honest, and really seemed like it was an appeal to viewers' good natures, than to honestly address their critics. I've followed them for a while, with a variety of games, and it's almost always the case that if you're looking for how to build something, their click bait litters your search results. They've been known as, "the meme build guys." Their reputation precedes them, and sharing comments praising them, doesn't really change that their comment section also receive many others that criticisms. This isn't any different than saying, "Nuh uh! Cause my mom says so!" Of course their fans are going to give them a thumbs up. They're fans of Rage Gaming. Rage Gaming also turns into whining bitch baby the moment they get any criticisms. I have the idea that players who follow Rage Gaming's guides, and then reaffirm that it's an awesome build, either hasn't played the build for longer than 5 minutes to understand it's flaws, or doesn't understand their game well enough, to identify them. Anyone whose experienced and understands their game can look at their builds, and point out the failures in their guides. Having followed some of them myself, I can say they're often times taken from other creators, or are interesting concepts, but fall short of being functional builds. In Monsterhunter, and Eldenring I would often times find myself trying to correct their builds to make them work. When you watch their videos, it seems like what they're saying really lives up to their title for the vid, but they cherry pick the best recorded moments of whatever it is doing the most damage. I don't think it's really a matter of learning to play the game and get better, as like I said, much of their content is just taken from people who did the something, but better, or regurgitated to make an extremely low effort video. Claiming that the only way they can do what they do is if they enjoy it, again is a bit deceiving. Yes, that might be the case but, it just so happens that their new, "interest," is in whatever flavor of the month is. They chase around whatever the current big release is, because that's where the money is at. Their claims that, "we're just friends who enjoy playing games together," is Mr. Beast levels of, "I'm not rich." Thing is, chasing the current hot topic around for cash, isn't bad. I mean, it's annoying, but lots of people do it, and it gets the bills paid. The issue is if that's the case, then just say it. There are content creators like Ghazz for PoE, or Lost, for Eldenring, who are dedicated to a specific game's content, and they openly talk about how this is their job. There are variety creators like Lets Game It Out, and Spiffing Brit, who play a variety of different games, and they don't chase the clout train nearly as hard as Rage Gaming Vids. If they're going to spend months on Diablo 4 because, I unno, maybe there's some back door Blizzard money, no one is going to care if they're corporate shills. But, people do care if you misrepresent your channel, and yourselves as, "just average guys," or if you're deceptive about the content you create. I'd be much more interested in watching a Rage Gaming Vid if it was, "Hey here is a neat idea we tried out," instead of, "50 BILLION DAMAGE BEST BUILD RGANAROCK DICK THROBBING ARMAGEDON SUPER DPS END GAME BEST BUILD BEST BUILD BEST BUILD!"

I can definitely understand being upset about super mega click-bait titles. I've not been a fan of that from these guys for a while now. That being said, I still do enjoy them and watch their videos because as someone who has been on youtube for quite a while, I've grown numb to the "ULTIMATE BEST BLAH BLAH" meta and I know whenever I see it, it's probably not that. However, what I do get from those videos is useful information about another way to consider my build or a couple of tools maybe I didn't know about before that could improve what I'm doing. I never use guides verbatim. I take what I like, try it, and make adjustments that suit me. Might not be the best, but I didn't come to Path of Exile to make the best build ever. I came to have fun with all the tools they have to offer to make something that is fun and fulfills a neat power fantasy while still getting the job done, even if it isn't the best. Now, I won't excuse the titles. Every community is different when it comes to what they tolerate in their creator spaces and PoE sounds like a pretty "cross your T's and dot your I's" community when it comes to delivery of information. I get that. But maybe... don't make giant call out videos before you've determined if the person is acting completely in bad faith? Rather than being a "content cop" first, maybe reach out first and if the answer is a "f you, I do what I want" THEN go hard on the call out? I'm pretty new to PoE2, so maybe thats just not how things are done here abouts, but I have to admit, even I was kinda taken aback when I saw how they were getting attacked. I think it's easy for anyone to be confused and feel like they're being gate kept when they're getting compliments and thank yous in one ear and "you're f***ing trash" in the other.

As a week old new content creator here on youtube, I appreciate this video. I had no idea that the community was this tight. I haven't had any complaints yet but I'm sure eventually someone would had said something. I paid someone on Fiverr $5 to make me a thumbnail for my first videos and he wrote best build on one, I started trying to make my own by dissecting the few I got from him to learn how it was done to start making my own (work in progress), and I'll try to keep that clickbait in check moving forward. It takes years to grasp it, let alone to do it while being up to date with all the changes. Just because you took a random 'new most op build' and are having good time with it now, does not in a slightest mean its a good build and that you won't eventually run into issue that breaks the build and requires a complete redesign. This in turn will impact your enjoyment of the game as a whole. Maybe you would be one of the minority who would figure things out for himself but majority won't. This means that those build guides must manage expectations and represent what they actually offer and you are defending a guy who on 1 page of his videos has like 10 "new op one shot build"'s PoE players went through this with every season and random people claiming they know 'new best op' build just to see it ruin a league start for thousands of players who listened to these creators. I play PoE for a decade and 95% of builds i played i created myself and just for myself. However I wouldn't in a milion years make a video about one and claim its 'most op new build' just because i understand that PoE is extremely complex and there are things that i must have missed or screwed up in the process and to give it away further and even more so to the wider audience would require me to get peer review. I have 4.5k hours in poe1. I watched 2 of his videos and clicked unrecommend because the info was just bad with a clickbait tittle. I can see how new players come to POE2 try one of his best builds ever and just quits the game and never comes back. Nothing is worse then struggling with a bad build trough the game.

1) In my opinion, these people deserve feedback and it's great when content creators get a reality check. These guys are used to making tutorials for much simpler games (like survival games) and it's their fault for treading in the wrong waters. 2) "Usually when POE creators get flamed, their builds are like meybe 20% less than optimal or something." Yeah, I think this sentense was really easy to missrepresent... 3) They just got it wrong. They believed they were doing good things, but unfortunately they were wrong. 4) They promised and didn't deliver. They're lucky we can't refund back our free time...

The problem is even when ppl post clickbait titles and get sh*t for it that's still clicks and comments which tells the YT algo it's a video ppl wanna see. So if the community doesn't collectively start ignoring those channels there won't be any change. Just you can't make random people just searching YT stop clicking those vids.

At 5-6 he talks about how not to spread hate and I saw in your eyes that you don't know what he's talking about and that spreading hate is absolutely the right thing to do. The toxic gate keeping environment makes people want to leave and everyone in the PoE community say there is no toxic behavior and everyone outside or a lot of new players say there is. What funny echo chambers of opinions we have here. I mean the anger, the frustration, puh, I don't know, only people that are part of it and never rething about their own behavior. I haven't seen a single one of the angry PoE creators reflect on their own behavior, it's all the same because the echo chambers of their mindset are the same. Because the mindset is “I'm not changing, even if I could be a better person and be wrong or act differently, if people love it and support me, I'll never question myself”. And so the PoE community will always be seen as the gatekeeping elite. No matter what you end up saying at the end that you don't hate, when you and Lily spread nothing but hate for 3 hours in all the videos together, it's hate, but don't question yourself, it's too hard to ask. You don't seem to change for anyone or anything because you're always right and the holy crusader of truth. That are 90% of PoE creators in a nutshell. Angry and vocal. And maybe whats worse, I watch some PoE creators, of course, because I know what I get from Rage and what not and those I follow are pretty much just calm and want to share. But if the first thing I see from someone is spreading hate and anger and bitching about petty things, that's a downvote, a block and I'm gone. Even though the creator may be great at what they do, being an asshole is never a selling point for me. And you, sir, and Lily, the first thing I saw was definitely an indication of my prejudice against elites and gatekeepers. Now you would say "I dont care about what people think, I do what I do and I want it to do" and yes, fair point. But I think it is sad that you might could offer something to everyones table but with hate and anger you push them away and just keep those around you that are your opinion and your mindset anyway. So there will never something new to the table. I think that is sad and shows a lot about how you treat new people which don't follow your dictate. Like there is only black and white.

When someone produces clickbait content, intended for new players, in a game as complex as PoE, where you can (hopefully getting fixed with further tweaks to respec costs, but was a legendary issue before Settlers of Kalgur league in PoE 1) BRICK A CHARACTER by choosing wrong passive tree points, getting the wrong gear etc. When a game is this complex under the hood, with a drawback requiring literal hours or days to correct major misstakes in your build to be able to effectively do the content, spreading clickbait missinformation NEEDS to be gatekept without mercy, because you are actively hurting the new player experience if you don't.

I was lucky however and would take hours planning a respec to make sure I have gear and everything up to par to make a build work. I feel bad for people that wasted time and currency respecing into a build that is sub optimal with 0 warnings.

@@SwedetasticGames Yes, I understand that. People keep repeating it, especially those within the same echo chamber. But imagine new players coming across hate and anger as the first thing they see. What impression does that give them? Sure, they might avoid the account in question, but what does it say when all they see in the comments are insults and anger directed at new players or content creators? Everyone knows KZbin punishes creators for making changes, and I’ve shared the same criticism about clickbait under RageGaming videos too. That said, we need to recognize two things: 1. We can now change builds. 2. Build effectiveness still heavily relies on gear. The latter issue lies squarely with GGG, due to their poor itemization, terrible drop rates, and lack of meaningful crafting options at the moment-everything feels centered around bricking items. Without trading, I wouldn’t have even made it to T15 maps. So yes, itemization is GGG’s responsibility. Builds can be adjusted, and there are plenty of experienced PoE veterans who can help guide the way. If I have to choose between someone who’s a bit clunky in their explanations but genuinely helpful and someone more famous who gatekeeps or spreads hate, I’ll always pick the former. Imagine if creators like Ghazzy or Lily had made videos that corrected misinformation or offered constructive tips to improve builds. That would have been truly helpful. Instead, this video here just reeks of elitism and serves no real purpose. Of course, it’s not their job to fix things, but as it stands, beyond calling out misinformation-which is fine-none of the RageGaming viewers are better off after watching this video. They’ve just heard a bunch of insults and still have no idea what to change. I hope you understand the point I’m trying to make. This isn’t about picking sides in some petty fight; it’s about asking what would actually be helpful to the community. For me, my first impressions of Ghazzy and Lily were shaped by hate, not by what they could genuinely offer. And when the first impression of a game or community is rooted in false behavior, it ruins the experience. In that sense, they’ve succeeded-because I now like the community less and less. Honestly, I’m even considering quitting the game. I know I’m just one player; I don’t matter much. But I think it’s fair to share my perspective all the same. And to be honest I don’t expect him to read or think about it rather than some angry rants of what a hater or simp I am. And that of course, I without knowledge am not even to judge their human behavior instead of their critics. But to be fair, except they are totally right about the clickbait shit I am not any wiser. But I am also sure, their fans and most of the PoE community will repeat your points instead or really want to bring new people with new ideas and insights and failures to the table And that’s the same about the other DIV creators, they are really good and spend 12hours plus a day. RageGaming probably only 4 and yes, like I said, their clickbait titles are shit. But they couldn’t even go for Wudjio if they would liked to, or Rex, those are one kind of the gamers that probably are on par with the best PoE(2) players. And RageGaming are definitely far behind it. They are just those with a big audience. But like I said. As if Ghazzy would read that or would then think ”oh I will not answer but think about helping the community, especially those of new players more instead of doing this kind of stuff“. First option is he only reads those comments from his own echo chamber just telling him how right he and Lily are or he will be filled with anger. And that is sad. When it will be different. Well. Win:win for all the people that stays even after this, the video before and Lilys two videos about it.

Why in your opinion would his build not carry you to red maps easily? It's all lily propaganda. The content is fine. @@AeSkone You are acting as if the anger is out of no reason. The reason people are angry and clowning on the bait videos, is because most of them likely played PoE 1 blind and managed to fully brick thier first characters. Seeing someone at the top of the directory spreading missinfo using clickbait titles (and refusing to update and correct said titles when proven factually wrong) pisses people off, because they KNOW how soulcrushing it is effectively softlocking a character 60h+ into a game, and how much damage that does to the approachability if the game. This is also not the first game RGV has done this for. When they branched out from Monster Hunter content for Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree's releases, they did the same thing. The difference is, it is effective impossible to brick a character in Elden Ring so the outrage wasn't as strong. Worst case scenario your stats work to cast an a better spell or use a better weapon than recommended.

@@jeffgriffith9692 not sure how rarity is working for 99% of the community but not for you. im pretty sure youre just 2 used to the drops with your rarity gear and dont know anymore how it feels to run around with 0%. i cant comment on the "diminishing returns" claim but its definitely not a bait stat. i dont want to offent you but maybe just try to run a few maps withount any rarity and compare your drops.
