I'd like more subclasses and class and subclass stories. Different classes for different origins would be great. Like perhaps eleven mages could get arcane warrior ... Orlesian Rogues get Bards and Orlesian Warriors can be Chevaliers... Dwavern warriors could be berserkers, Qunari get different specialisations like Saarebas (come on we can't do stuff those damn Saarebas can do as mages in DAI or DA2!) ect I think it would be cool anyways :p

As a rogue at heart I want the Duelist specialisation to make a comeback, as well as those fantastic class moves that included throwing dirt in enemies faces and kicking them in the nads. It really added a lot of style and flavor to the rogue class- after all a rogue doesn't care about honor in battle, a rogue cares about getting the job done so it makes sense that a lot of their moves would seem so crass and cheap.

Dual wileding rogues in Origins are the best thing ! Really fun to play yet simple, just backstab everything. Also, on the hard dificulty talk at the end, is exactly my problem with the trials in Inquisition. Basically even a Nug can take hours to kill, espetially in the begining.
@AWingedOne4 жыл бұрын
I feel like Inquisition is HEAVILY skewed towards a rogue Inquisitor, most of the origins have you coming to the summit as a spy or diplomat of some sort, and in Haven the quickest route to unlocking the basement locks is being a rogue Inquisitor as opposed to asking Sera. As well as yes The Anchor is a new type of magic but even a mage Inquisitor has barely any grasp of it.

Played Awakening once with a Buckler/Sword rogue, and, what's surprising, it was a pretty viable build. Not as much as any "main" build, but still quite cool to play. Loved how Origins had no equipment limitation, and smaller shields didn't give penalties that would screw the rogues over.
@LB-vf2hm7 жыл бұрын
I feel like I might end up commenting a few too many times, but anyways. What I've thought would be a really interesting take to Dragon Age doing something new with classes would be to give each race 3 race specific classes, which loosely correspond to Warrior Rogue and Mage. Make them heavily draw on the lore of the cultures, and not only do they help further differentiate said cultures, but they also help differentiate the gameplay of the races. Might have to sacrifice specialisations, though.
@markervine18557 жыл бұрын
That sounds too restrictive and boring. Just let me make my class batshit crazy
@rowanl30597 жыл бұрын
I'm all about the lore and I don't think that's a bad idea and you wouldn't have to sacrifice specialisations each race has a special version beyond the basic in their own culture like for elf mages rift or knight enchanter is available the enchanter was originally an elven magic or for dwarfs the Carta have their own minor classes and humans you could become a Chevalier (that's French and I can't spell french lol )
@LB-vf2hm7 жыл бұрын
mark Ervine Maybe, though not necessarily any more that the origin stories were in Origins. If I can play Inquisition as a kind, compassionate reaver tank who only uses Devour to recharge my health, then the only limit is creativity.

The only thing the openings from origins "restricted" were interactions. And they enhanced story for your character. Race specifics skills are a double edged sword cause it can be done well bit it's usually done bad. If you're talking generic like Passive skills fine, but specific magic is a bad idea especially since the magic this game was so lack luster. I just want to make my qunari mage with stupid fun crap like swarm, stone fist, crushing prison, walking bomb for fun. I can understand more that's why we get into a story but that's way to constrictive and I can tell you for sure if you made the changes you wouldn't make much money nor have a big following.

I do feel like class system in DA could use a bit of a change, one of them being bringing back the attribute points for the Role Playing aspect of the game and larger freedom in customizing your character. It certainly wouldn't hurt to shake things up and maybe introduce some changes. But nothing too drastic. I always appreciated how DAO brought me back to the times of really oldschool RPGs and I wouldn't like BW to get too progressive trying to find some other formula to fit in a few elements of classical RPG to the modern action RPG style. And, considering Mass Effect, I think Bioware didn't make the right call by getting rid of class weapon restriction. I get the feeling that nowadays game devs value freedom over quality content, and I personally find it disappointing and quite annoying, to be honest.

Rift Mage all the way, easily my favourite Mage class. Being able to pull and twist enemies into massive AoE damage from my Mage or other party members is one of the most satisfying things to do in this game. Knight Enchanter is a more active class in terms of looking good and dishing out damage but the Rift Mage is the true commander of the battlefield, dictating the fight with no frills and enabling your squad to turn your trapped and helpless enemies into a fine paste. Even in other playthroughs I get to replicate that advantage with Solas and if I'm coming up on a particularly challenging part of the game I make sure to take him with me.

What I would say it they should mix the freedom of vocations from da:o and mix it with the combat style from da:i So I can still cast my swarms and crushing prison and bloodmagic etc. Rouges can still have the animal companion vocation and to make it easier you'd start out with wolf bear spider again when you upgrade it instead of wolf turning into blight wolf it'll turn into mabari we can probably switch spiders (cause I hate them ad it's weird to go Canine, ursian, spider? So prehaps you go attack, power, speed, defense? Wolf to (Mabari), Lynx to (mountain lion?) suggestion, and adolesant bear to (Adult bear.) Warrior I have a hard time thinking up anything however.... Prehaps I'll come back with more ideas in the future.

The good thing about Inquisition is that it is accessible to both veterans and novices. As long as you read what each attribute does and which classes it affects (and have a measurable IQ) you can come out on top. You see these overpowered warrior builds on KZbin but all they do is create a glass cannon, and that's what the Rogue is for. My Dalish flanks for 5000 with each dagger and strikes for 550 with each dagger. She doesn't take hits well but I solved that with a little Guard Masterwork attachment. Besides, she's a Tempest. Break that frost flask and proceed to use Twin Fangs or Shadow Strike. It's a shame they didn't add the "ULTRA COMBO!" for when you cause so much damage at once your game slows down... My first mage was a Knight Enchanter and I pretty much faced the Hissing Wastes' dragon by my lonesome - meaning Mistress Knight Enchanter Addar killed a Sandy Howler by her lonesome. Cryomancy and Knight Enchanter. Overkill. Frost Step to dodge attacks and leave the dragon Chilled, then Winter's Grasp to overkill it. Alternatively I used Blizzard and Winter's Grasp in combination for the same effect. When the thing was up close, build that Barrier with Spirit blade. Each strike would deal close to 2000 damage. Dragon Age Origins is too slow and tactic for my taste. If I want RTS, I'll play Command & Conquer... In Inquisition, you still need strategy, regardless of stats. Don't expect to beat the Sandy Howler as a Pyromancer or lackluster arms and armor, even at adequate levels. Right now, I'm playing a Rift Mage Electromancer. And she's already max level and overpowered, and I haven't even visited the Western Approach, though I already completed most locations not tied to the main plot or DLCs. The Trials make sure she does need a full party... I'd like to see classes like Nightblade - Stealth Mage (even have my own idea of a character) - Paladin - Healing and holy magic - Blood Mage, though I guess Dorian's Necromancy can be considered that. I'd also like to see how lycanthropy could play a role, because it does exist in the lore. With Solas trying to tear down the Veil, maybe spirits could possess people and create werewolves or something... maybe it could be a form of Blood Magic and a Focus Ability. I personally stand between Rogue and Mage mostly. They feel a bit... faster. The Warriors are slow and tanky and while I can make a sick Templar, I prefer my Dalish Rogue. She killed the Titan and Hakkon so easily, you'd think she is an Elven Goddess...

I actually really love Sera as a companion. Whenever I play with her, she always becomes a huge damage dealer. Also, during Trespasser, if you play as a a qunari mage, when you speak to the human at the beginning of of the deep roads section, he talks about saarebas, and I think asks if you know hat that is and you get to have this moment of like "I know exactly what they are, I am one." and I don't know why but it like, really affected me.

I think it depends. A mage in DA2 for me was fun but in Inquisition it was "simple" fun and in Origins it's so extensive but getting hit is a death sentence without certain abilities. But A shield Sword build was good in Inquisition and Origins but bleh in DA2. But Adept is amazing period

@@AtaraxicOne oh lore wise yes agreed. Eh I think I had the most fun with it in Inquisition. It has a lit of good dialogue options but I make sure to get arcane studies when I play as other classes. I think simplification is what made it fun for me. Like stacking attacks was easier, for example I have a Knight Enchanter build with each element because they all allow you to stack some ability with that lightsaber 😂. But also the spirit tree for weakening or stunning opponents with mind blast or some such. I'm not good at stacking with abilites on a keyboard

Origins didn't necessarily make me feel strapped for cash but I did feel more limited than in the later two games, especially playing a character who didn't do some of the more morally grey quests. The reason being, I usually end the base game with anywhere from 150 - 300 gold before I buy my end game gear. But there's a lot of end game gear that's 100 or so gold. I'm sure someone who can min max finds a way to get the best of everything they possibly can but if you're less meticulous then you might not be able to buy everything you want.

Oh, also, a cool idea I think for blood mage (and I am honestly not sure if this is original to me or if I heard this elsewhere: They should give the option of being a blood mage, and blood mage should give the massively overpowered options that it is purported to do in-universe. That being said, every time you choose to use someone else's blood or to use blood magic in a massive overpower kind of way, it begins whittling down your ability to choose good options or kind options in situations, so that you can't play a good overpowered blood mage as you were able in DA:O. You find yourself choosing to destroy an incredibly difficult boss, say, by sacrificing your party, but then oops! You're a horrible asshole! I think that it would add a moral dimension to the choice to be a blood mage--you don't HAVE to choose to access the power it can give, but most people would fall to that temptation, and it has the consequences that it seems to in-universe whether or not you like it.

I would really love to see more magic skills put back in, such as the horror tree, spirit tree and better versions of the spirit bomb again, as for inquisition I did not like how long the cool downs were plus you could only cast 1 spell at at a time from the mana recovery taking ages and the mana cost for each spell. This has nothing to do with this episode, but I was wondering if you guys could talk about how spirit and demon possession works and how it affects different people? I’m wondering this cause with Sophia Dryden in the DAO dlc the demon that is possessing her seems to stop the Calling for her so I’m curious how does demon possession work with someone who has done the joining. With wynne whenever she talked about the spirit and her inevitable death she always made it seem that she would die of natural causes rather then the calling and even morrigan mentions to her that she could possibly live forever if she chose to continue to use spirits. I would also like to hear Exalted’s opinion on whether he thinks if Anders really wanted to blow up the chantry or if he was used. My opinion on Anders changed a lot with my current play through of awakening because if he’s in your parted when you first see wynne he finds it dumb how the libertarians want to completely split from the chantry. Also it was meant for him to supposedly be possessed by some other demon not actually justice, so I feel so bad for him as a character now that I really see how his possession changed him.

I actually miss healing specialization, while I never make my main character a healer because of story reasons but I control the npc healer most of the time On terms of mixing classes. That's a hard no for me, BUT what I would love it adding more weapon types and allowing Warrior and Rogue to swap willy nilly and even Mage with a specialization. What classes would do is how it interacts with the weapons, having rogue have abilities activate on a crit or a sneak attack would insentivize smaller higher crit weapons like daggers and bows, and warrior would focus on weapon types more like a "weapon master" or something. And mage could add elemental damage or on a crit it'd allow a spell of your choice to activate for half or no mana cost. it COULD be cool.

You can't put everything into a game as much as you may want to, so the war table is great solution when lacking resources. My only criticism is how seldom it is to hear anyone comment on the outcomes of the war table mission. Saving Clan Levellan being the biggest offender. Comparing Andromeda strike missions to the war table just goes to show that you didn't bother reading the war table missions, Exalted March.

Dispite the hate DA2 gets... I feel like it probably had the best combat (outside of the absurdly good combo damage). Abilities had an oppotunity cost and timing was important to use them (due to longer cooldowns etc)... In iquisition you more or less had a damage rotation just using them when they came off cooldown. It was very... single player centric and busy. Because of this it was annoying to control your party's abilities because in order to control them you'd be pausing every 2 seconds to cycle through all your chars to use an ability. There is a charm to having them do their own thing while you damage rotation down... but it loses the strategic element that is so core to these type games.

I don't think shifting attributes from level up to crafting gear is the same as taking them away altogether. Attributes didn't really matter in Origins or 2. There isn't any real build variety, since every build is tied to a skill tree. Every tank will have the same attributes, every dps warrior will always have the same attributes. Besides in Inquisition you can get your desired attribute to cross over a hundred, if you wished.

People should just fucking get over the lack of heals in Inquisition, the game focuses on damage mitigation which is more interesting and engaging to do, then bashing heal every chance you get.

Mass Effect Andromeda was a perfect example of too much of a good thing and why strict class distinctions should be adhered too. ME3 combat was so perfect, it's why the multiplayer gave me 600 hours. ME2 is way too simplified, it's genuinely boring enough to stop me replaying. Origins' tactics system has never been beaten. Inquisition feels like a kids game in comparison, it's really sad.

So I'm primarily a rogue. Still the one time I tried to play DA2 as a rogue I lost interest without even making it to the end of act 1. Went back, made a mage, finished the game. 2 is the only game I can only play as a mage lol

DAO had the best combat. Tactical view in DAI absolutely sucks. Playing DAI was an exercise in finding an insane build that you like real time and praying your mage AI doesn't suck. I wish they'd have left it tactical/PC, but with the damn PS tie-ins, we were going to get here eventually. Also, GET OFF MY LAWN.

What I would like to change, is if one is caught of guard somewhere in the Frostback naked ( with Scout Harding ) you are completely useless. Ones armour determines to much ones ability .. I would like more passive ability that would determine more ones skills..

Honestly I love playing mage hawke but god damn it I can’t stand carver. On another note I miss the old blood mage but I will give it that knight enchanter is a lot more engaging to play than the old arcane warrior

Guard on hit is a pretty crappy masterwork. There are far better ones out there, besides your guard is what half your health max? Vivienne's barrier can take 12K damage and is replenished with all the damage she deals.
