In terms of game mechanics they should force the player to only walk while they aim downsights using a sniper rifle to prevent the sniper dance, reduce the amount of explosives like in gta 4 where you were forced to only carry 8 rockets to give more attention to other weapons like ARs or SMGs

The main issue that V had was that u could buy ammo from the menu. That allowed for rocket spam way more than before that

I would like to see sniper scopes that don't black out the screen around the scope when you zoom in, like in Battlefield or CoD.

Also Ghillie, you had a good point about snipers not being realistic in gaming in general so maybe adding a mechanic that includes the ability to mount bigger weapons with a bipod to increase accuracy while slowing mobility while shooting from a crouched position then slowed even more when fully standing. So adding the ability to go prone would be the perfect solution to make those mechanics work better

Just make them realistic: Low mobility (cause it's a big rifle), high damage (cause calibers are usually larger), low fire-rate (cause they're bolt action), low amount of ammo (ammo big = takes more space to carry around), high recoil (cause again, big boolet, big kick) and finally make it impossible to aim while moving, that's how snipers are, if you aren't stationary you ain't hitting jack shit.

I personally like the fast strafing & no recoil. As someone who goes against 3v1s regularly. Fast movement helps me defensively when I’m going against multiple people so I can avoid shots. If they severely limit your movement you’re a sitting duck if you take on multiple people. But if R* reworked sniping completely you would probably see a lot less odd numbered attacks and it wouldn’t be an issue. Wind drop etc

@@matushka__ PvP is still probably gonna be a huge part of every single GTA game going forward tho. Idk how PvP was in RDO didn’t play it but I imagine the slower mechanics probably lead to less fights which seems to be the direction R* wants. Since they’ve removed EWO, passive popping, KD from free mode, nerfed jet cannons etc. Its gonna be hard to find a good balance

I think if they just made the first person strafe speed the same as the third person strafe speed it’ll fix 90% of the issue

I hate the fact that if you play first person, you have an advantage over third person. I think it should be even across-the-board. Slow down striving because I’ve never seen a sniper move at full speed when shooting. Obviously a game but my opinion.

One of the biggest changes they could do is add scope sway when moving, something they could do is add different snipers(I'm not sure how to describe it so) if you have a target out over 1000 yards you'd use a certain caliber like a 6.5 creedmoor high velocity and shoots flat

Seeing a refresh of how snipers work in the other titles gives a broader scope of ideas on how to balance snipers in the future titles. Perosnally I want to see no strafing allowed with actual sniper rifles in 6 but that likely won't happen. The REAL issue is how First Person works. You have such an advantage in movement for every little thing. Snipers how they work now in 5 work just fine EXCEPT for how first person works. You turn on a dime, you're faster than third person, you can make climbs/jumps you can't in third person. So the ACTUAL fix would be to change first person movement to match more closely to thir person movement in gta 6

Honestly, I don’t even think it’s the movement that’s the problem. Its the problem that you mentioned earlier. The heavy sniper is way too damn powerful for a singular weapon making everything else useless in every other game you’re able to use say an AR or a lmg for a long range it wasn’t as effective but you get my point, but in this game, you can’t really do that not to mention the fact ever since they added the one shot mechanic for the heavy sniper mk2 in the contract update sniping has never been more fucking boring. I miss the days when I had to 2 shot someone to kill’em nowadays. You have to be extremely reactive and get the first shot on the other player. Which meant it was less about being good at aiming the gun more about being reactive with the gun, and the only way you could counter the one shotting from that stupid rifle was to use the new snacks and armour mechanics system that they added during enterprises. The current state of snipers in GTA online makes the game twice as boring. Because I’m sorry there’s nothing skilful with you being “reactive” and simply one shot and the other player without having to volley another shot, it takes all the fun out of it. especially because the enemy player if they get shot, they don’t have an equal chance of defeating you with the one shot in the game when it wasn’t in the game. Yeah if someone hit you first you lost health, but you had an equal chance of winning because you could hit him two times and still win nowadays you can’t fucking do that shit. I’d be personally open to the max Payne idea. I never got to play it but I definitely don’t think strafing should NOT be removed entirely. I just don’t know how I would feel about the whole movement being slow thing I think it’s more the problem with the damage of the weapons in general.

Sniping in general is just boring. We haven’t got a good rifle in a long time. I can only tolerate using the same two rifles so many times before I get off the game.

I think movement needs a revamp. Like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 6 should have better zoom and maintain the blur effect during sniping. But balance is key to avoid repetitive strafing. First-person sniping might not suit most players, so sticking to third-person could be better. Sniper damage and distance Is fine as it is in my opinion

2 simple ways: Make the bullets actual ballistic, physical objects that travel through space instead of hit scan. Then make movement while aimed slower, with less accuracy the faster one is moving. This would make sniping battles require actual skill instead of us all dancing like idiots from left to right.

The only thing I'd really change in the game mechanics for sniping is increasing the damage for snipers. If you get hit with a .50BMG you are dead, no body armour (yes I have seen demolition ranch show body armour that can stop a 50 cal but the force alone would be like getting punched in the chest by a gorilla on coke and will put you down on the ground and out of action even if you survive) or BST should protect you. Heavy sniper should always be 1 hit kill, even with BST and armour, even in the arm or leg, like guaranteed 1 hit kill every time. Also people who say you have no skill because they are slightly better at wiggling side to side need to realise that they are sad and it actually took significantly more actual skill for me to hit them with a free-aim missile from my upside-down mk.2 or backwards flying jet or scramjet or mk.1 or deluxo or any heli and they are the n00bs without skill and I choose to avoid ground combat because it is boring and doesn't require any skill and they should stop complaining and come fight me in the air if they wanna prove how skilled they are.

It should definitely be redesigned imo, it's too rng and inconsistent in GTA 5. I used to be a fan of sniper dancing years ago but now I find that completely boring and lame. I miss the sniper battles on ps3 GTA online when first person mode did not exist, they were really fun on PS3 in my opinion.

If anything, I just want a weapon loadout system in GTA 6 where players aren't carrying enough weapons to outfit a platoon and a borderline infinite supply of ammo in their back pockets. Building on your idea of a weight system, my idea is that all weapons (except for Melee weapons and Throwables) fall into a weight category. For example, Pistols would be considered _Light_ weapons, meaning you could carry multiple different pistols on you. Whereas weapons like Shotguns, Assault Rifles, SMGs, and Sniper Rifles would be considered _Medium_ weapons, where you can carry one Medium weapon and two Pistols as backup, or alternatively two Medium weapons, and that's it. Then there would be _Heavy_ weapons like the RPG, Grenade Launcher, Minigun, and even LMGs, where you can only carry a single weapon, and absolutely nothing else.

Limited ammo should also be a thing, and not being able to restock instantly through the interaction menu. Players should have to buy ammo at ammunation or call in a gun van/ammo drop. This would force people to be more strategic with their loadouts.

@@jackskellingtonsfollower3389 yeah the limited special ammo (explosive rounds etc) was actually a great idea, it prevents abusing them and forces you to leave a fight to go replenish ammo. It should be like that with all ammo types, I think it would really make griefing inconvenient. Also for further realism, no unlimited rockets on jets/helicopters.

I miss Max Payne 3 so much. Easily my favorite multiplayer gaming experience. The free aim community died off a lot sooner than the regular lock-on community, but those Deathmatches and Payne Killer lobbies were so addicting

Slow down strafing, add bullet travel time, add weapon sway and weapon weight = less mobility and accuracy. Also I pray there won't be so much explosive weapons in GTA6

growing up i pretty much exclusively played gta online and became really good and used to the whole process of sniping, the strafe and the being able to hit basically endless shots bc of it being hit scan and not projectile, so when finally branching off to play other games i struggled significantly with any kind of sniping and it was very discouraging. i would say the closest feeling in my experience to the gta sniping dance would maybe be halo specifically halo infinite bc of the seemingly endless range without bullet drop and being able to strafe quite easily. i hope that in gta 6 they make the sniping slightly more realistic in terms of other shooter games, like possibly make it projectile and have some minimal bullet drop at long ranges, but if it’s a somewhat closer range fight have it still be able to accurately hit shots. i personally think the strafing is fun but it could be nerfed, idk how you would go about that but i also believe it should be kept somewhat similar to gta5 bc we’ve all been playing that and used to that for a little over 10 years, making the next installments sniping mechanics drastically different would probably make it difficult for returning gta5 players to pick up.

I personally think that sniper rifles in every game should have bullet physics (shoot a projectile and have travel time at the very least). I find dumb how devs haven't learned from the old CoD games where sniper rifles were broken because could one-shot at any distance. Strafing should slow you down while aiming too.

I think a cool feature would be the ability to go prone and use a bipod. You will be more valuable because you have to say still in one area, but there would be significantly less sway and more accuracy. Kinda like how battlefield does it.

Snipping don't need changing in gta 6 it's just the rest of the guns need more balance so then pvp is fair with any gun and I hope they don't add ghost bst or off radar in the game that has destroyed pvp in gta 5 already

I wouldnt mind snipers being locked down while scoped I think, but those guns that do should really be a 1-hit kill to the body regardless of armour (I mean something like balistic armour can resis sure, but not "normal" body armour). I think I would prefer moving to cause a bunch of camera shake or literal random accuracy loss, that would be nice. The more you move the more the camera shakes and the further the bullet will be from the crosshair, just to try and stop people wiggling and just dealing with the camera shake and firing when the crosshair lines up with the target. Likewise, I dont think I want to see anything close to the marksman sniper again. I dont want anything close to a sniper to be able to lock on in aim-assist, I dont want something that shoots that fast to have a scope as good as it can get, I dont want it. If something like the marksman is added back in the future, it better do either a fraction the damage, have atrocious accuracy, or some sort of major change to keep it from ever being the go to for "sniper" class weapons. put it in rifles, make it do rifle damage per bullet, youre using it for the longer range and scope. also the musket is a rifle class weapon, cmon. long reload time? big damage per hit? pretty long range? one bullet at a time? its more of a sniper than the precision rifle.

well the marksman rifle - m14 is the only gun that allows you to strafe in the older gta 5 (360/ps3) as the sniper (l96a1 awp) and heavy sniper (barrett m80) your forced to stand still since those are slightly heavier, imo, the marksman should stay the same, light, weak, lots of strafing but bad accuracy the sniper should give it some weight, medium dmg, insta kill via headshot but 2-3 shot kill if armoured, with decent accuracy but with lower strafes the heavy sniper/mk2, heavier weight, packs a punch, ignores BST/armour and 1 shot to upper body or head but your forced to stay still cus if you try to move while in first person, your accuracy is penalized and dropping accuracy, plus add the recoil that throws off your accuracy/aim (the whole point of the barrett m80 is to standstill as its a heavy hitting weapon) give all snipers bullet drop and some snipers have ranged caps instead of the range musket is a joke weapon but fun for roleplaying the civil war precession rifle, just give it the rebalanced treatment and it will be a competitor to the regular sniper (l96a1 awp) or better yet make it called sniper rifle mk2 which replaces the awp these are just my opinions/idea for the sniper rebalanced, what you think ghillie?

I personally want it to stay the way it is. When i begun playing gta i never even thought I'd say it, bur after 4,5k hours i can say that, gta has the most unique pvp out of any game and i love it. The simple strafing while sniping, it creates a skill gap, while at the same time being something different from every other game, and it works. In cod, if 2 snipers meet up close, if both miss they're just jump around like crackheads until they load another round. In gta you can, with just your movement, make enemies miss. It's such a unique mechanic and i absolutely love it. Never would i think that sniping in gta would be one of my favorite pvp experience across games. That is just the sniping itself, i haven't even dove down into every other aspect i like, but that's off topic.

What I'd suggest, while scoped you can only move slowly and it adds a lot of "drag" and sway to your aim, so moving while scoped it possible but very hard to aim. You are more stable while crouched but then you can't move at all. Additionally from another analysis of snipers in gaming I'd say you have a "scope in time" where your shot doesn't do maximum damage until you are fully scoped, ADS time is still instant but your scope in is shown by the "scope frame" overlay going from fuzzy to sharp. Every time you shoot you lose some scope in which doesn't recover until the next round is chambered so there is a bit of delay between being able to shoot to firing the strongest shot. Similarly the scope in goes down a bit when you move. EDIT: One of the big issues with GTA Online is the sniping right now "needs" to be so broken because everything else is so broken where sniping is one of the only real countermeasure. Imagine you had the more realistic sniping VS all the explosive spam, RPGs and the flood of weaponized vehicles. Being able to snipe someone off of a depressor is already hard enough, imagine that with bullet drop and projectile travel time, unless a sniper hit not matter where on a depressor could destroy its hover engine that would be a hard imbalance.

Reducing the strafe speed while scoped is the common sense route. Unfortunately this is R* we're talking about. They now consider "sniper dancing" as their signature for game design so it'll still be the PVP meta in GTA6.

I like how the sniping is in rdr2, 2 tap to body 1 to head and you can still kind of run or strafe fast

If the next GTA is going for more realism then I'd like to see bullet physics like in Battlefield. If they're staying arcade-like and cartoonish like GTA5 then gun play needs a complete rework. Especially explosive spam. I only play in Free-Aim lobbies & 80% of my PvP interactions are the other players using rockets or explosives because they hand have the skill for a normal gun fight.

I pray gta 6 has more of a feeling of weight to your character. Slower but better mobility an responsiveness then any of there other titles there other titles the movement just feels outdated an clunky even alittle in rdr2 I want a more realistic refined movement all together, no sniper dancing crap an being able to zip around in a unrealistic way in first person. More of a stable movement build that can be affected by how heavy your weapon is or the recoil making your balance alittle. Anything that can make it more realistic but fun as well.

There needs to be a "trip" mechanic added to GTA 6. If you're strafing with a heavy weapon, your character should trip and fall. There should also be punishments for offing yourself, like respawning with reduced health. K/D should also be reduced upon each death regardless of if a player, NPC or self-inflicted damage was delt.

Make damage scale with distance, more distance = more damage. Start at around 40% health at close range and max it out at 95%. Right now you can play with just a sniper rifle at all distances, which is dumb. My idea isn't realistic but this is a game and I think this should make other weapons more viable at their designed ranges

In GTAO for the Xbox 360 there was a setting for movement while sniping but it was turned off by default.

6:40 The aim assist on the snipers is absolutely ridiculous, especially since free aim lobbies don't exist in rdr2. However, between GTA V and RDR2, RDR2's sniping feels better without the aim assist. I think if the characters moved more like they did in third person, while in first person things would actually be perfect.

the way I would like all the shooting to be in gta 6 is while strafing your gun trails behind your reticle by a bit so when moving you can still shoot and strafe but you NEED to be skilled with what speed you are moving and how much you need to aim infront of your target to counteract how far your reticle off.

weapon should have a weight to it, also all weapons are way too precise, adding more recoil or a looser sight like in mafia II would be good, would give the different sight mods a reason to exist. More importantly is reduce significantly the presicion of snipers at close range or give the chance to adjust the sight while scoping.

I feel like the overall combat mechanics of GTA 6, whether it be sniping or using an AR should be based off of RDR2. Make it all more weighty and realistic.

snipers do NOT have bullet travel time in GTA V. the one mission where you shoot down the plane is an illusion. the need to "lead" distant player targets like aircraft is caused by lag and desync, not bullet physics lol

We all know it's never gonna happen. But I would say to make strafing slow or unavailable while aiming. Another feature that would be interesting is going prone. Bulle physics and dynamic accuracy would be good ways to balance it too. No exp rounds unless they are properly programmed. Incindiay are fine.

I think they should remove the goofy snappy movement from first person and give it the normal 3rd person feel. I also think 3rd person movement needs to be tightened up a bit. 1st or 3rd person shouldn't be an advantage or disadvantage, it should just be a preferential choice

unless im mistaken i remember you could move while scoped in on the old gen versions (ps3/360) you just had to enable it in settings. pretty sure you can still find the same setting on current gen too

The reason why the sniper is the way it is is because everyone is visible on the map, in real life a sniper can be used by finding a good hiding spot and scoping people with no movement necessary. On gta 5 everyone’s location is known so you can’t use a sniper for what it was intended for. With how toxic gta is if you sit anywhere for more than a minute you’ll end up dead lol

Generally speaking, Rockstar should really implement gunplay features and mechanics from Max Payne. Gunplay in those games imo are miles better than GTA5 and even GTA4 (to an extent with that game)

in my opinion sniping in red dead redemption 2 feels too much like sniping in call of duty (if your a controller player). i guess its because of the already preset zoomed scope but holy crap you can just aim and flick and pluck. only way you can get beat is if the opponent player is using a mouse to snipe and your on controller then yeah they will hit you faster than auto aim but considering most players on console use controller its not a problem.

Sniper flinch is an awful idea. Its already a bug in GTA Online. You get shot at by a player or NPC and you instantly lose your aim and go into hip fire mode. I have died to this bug too many times. And it really sucks when you're the only one affected by it in a fight.

That's not what flinch is though. Flinch wouldn't take you out of your scope or prevent you from shooting.

something ive been saying since i started pvp, the sniper is op and is the only viable weapon in most situations. anytime im on foot i do everything in my power to avoid open areas because sniper dancing is so dam boring and im sick of it.

Realistically, snipers don't strafe. They shoot from a fixed position. The end!

They should make it more realistic: You can move slowly while ADS but your accuracy will be ruined if you do that wich will make standing still the way to go, add basic bullet physics, give the weapons a lot of recoil based on their power and slow ADS speed based on their weight but in exchange, it'll be a 2 shot in the body and 1 in the head for the DMR, a 2 shot in the limbs and 1 shot in the torso and head for the SPR and a 1 shot anywhere for the AMR

I'm a pretty experienced sniper in GTA with 14.5K kills with the Heavy Sniper and I think the mechanic is just bad. It is clear to me that this mechanic was design for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I think sniping in GTA needs an entire rework. Slower strafing, new zoom mechanic, better aim mechanics (input behaviour with sticks) and a sound for rechambering the gun. Aiming in general should be reworked.

Absolutely at least that the very minimum when shooting from a distance there should be bullet drop in current GTA you can shoot max distance with zero bullet if they're going to make it fire like a laser beam then why not make it just a laser beam

That's the thing with GTA tryhards, whenever they talk about 1v1, it's always about sniper combat. And the only reason I don't engage with that is because it's boring and it makes you look like a clown. There's simply no fix for that. And they shouldn't change snipers, unless they make dedicated adversary modes for it.

In the beginning of RDO Strafing was limited to just walking Most of the combat was so positioning mattered more than the Strafing And then the devs got a lot of complaints that the combat felt "slow" and "Sluggish" And they basically sped up everything like literally sped up Reloads, movement and even the recocking animation between shots was sped up drastically combine this with not updating the guns and abilities around these changes andsome of the most BROKEN cards there are and you get current gta like pvp Which is in my opinion Horrendous

Strafing while in first person in 5 is way too fast, so i really hope in GTA 6 your movement becomes slower when aiming down the sights. Also if you move while ADS your accuracy should decrease.

Someone can tell me why 8 of 10 times i can't one shoot players with a heavy mk2 sniper bunker upgraded ? They opponent doesn't use BST and I see I hit him but just 25% of his health is gone. That's a buck? Or bcs of the bunker upgrades? Sniping became just unplayable for me . I hit player but they dont die

I'm speaking only for the PlayStation side here as I didn't play Xbox at the time but what you said about GTAV sniping, your completely wrong. On PS3 GTAV the reason you couldn't move while sniping is because you hadn't checked your settings (Sniper movement) I'm pretty sure the setting is still there, if it's off (default setting) you can't move, if you switch it to on, you can. Also the snipers in GTAV don't have travel time at any ranges as you said, a simple Google search will tell you that (Snipers in GTAV are hitscan except for the one mission in single player with the remote sniper in the back of the van) as for fixing sniping in GTAV, i agree with your idea to slow the player down while scoped and if 3rd person is to be in GTAVl then there should be no differences in movement or movement speed for any weapons, so there will not be any wannabes exploiting game machanics, same with other game machanics exploits like EWO'ing, TP'ing to jobs, BST spamming and so on.. But I know everything will stay the same, if not it'll be changed back to the way of GTAV because all the wannabe loser will cry to Mommy R* and beg for their no skill easy kill mechanics back.. literally went up against a loser the other night using 1st person sniping spamming BST and snacking every time I hit him while I was 3rd person casually sniping and apparently I'm trash? Lol ok Mr Handicap..

Out of all the games that were shown here, GTA 5 is the only one where you cannot crouch. That's really weird. Do you know how many times I get shot in the face because I can't get my head down!? Instead we have a stupid "Hunchback" stealth mode that looks so stupid! Why the hell was there never a crouch feature?
