I don't think people realize that when there are vocals like this in a song, they are used more like an instrument. Check out Cold Violet for a good example. Caspian does something similar occasionally. It's another layer/element to the song. When done right, it's amazing. Sounds awesome here! Blackgaze isn't for everyone.

I accidentally stumbled onto these guys one night during one of the roughest periods of my life. I lost most of what I had built and loved over 6 years in a very short period of time. The complete loss I felt, the rage, the fear, the emotion was all encompassing. Hearing this song years later I experience that same sensation and it makes me remember what I have now. It reminds me to cherish it even more. As cheesy as it is, the anguish conveyed says more than any word could.

I find it hard to exactly put into words why this song is so perfect. It's probably the density and beauty of the sound, the surreal feeling of a force that is distant but present. The alien but melodic chord progression that gives it an almost pop-punk aesthetic. The unsettling background vocals help too, the atmosphere is chilling and completely gripping. (EDIT: I read some of the comments of this video, I can understand why people dislike this particular sound, but that does not disregard the quality of the music)

I don’t mean to sound like a pretentious metal snob or anything, so Im sorry if I come off that way. But, the reason the vocals click with people is because of how it brings a lot of realism to any otherwise surreal style of music. The wails of a person in suffering accompany the very floaty yet hasty and depressive instrumentation. It’s a beautiful form of black metal, and may not appeal to you. But understand that it’s just not for everyone, not bad in any way. I for one find Moonlover one of this decade’s standout records, and it is a perfect showcase of (and way to get into) DSBM as a whole.

For anyone who doesn't know ghost bath all that well and is just coming here to listen to the song. They do not use lyrics, instead the vocalist screams and wails to express the emotion of a certain part in a song, this may steer you away from the band, but it truly is genius, letting the imagination of the listener decipher the song to be what they interpret. Along with the incredible musical talent of all the other members added to the vocalist. Their album starmourner has some great instrumental pieces if you're not yet accustomed to the screaming of this band yet. Once you take it all in, they truly are artists at heart, letting their audience decide what to feel and gain from their music.

I want to argue here that musically the instrumentals are very well done, the melodic tone with aggressive abrasive placings feels right, the vocals can definitely be more of a preference but all band vocals are, bands that sound identical in almost every way are picked apart for their vocals or vocal phrasings, black metal however is a very pure strain of both history and culture that transcends beyond the role of genre and thats why most of the fans of black metal will go so far to dislike Dimmu borgir when they're phenomenal and also originate from the place of black metal. I like this project. Please continue to develop yourselves.

Lyrics are important as they add another layer of meaning to the song, and they often emphasize the general feeling of vocals. I totally get the idea of regarding vocals as an instrument, however, this dude sounds kinda ridicolous at times, and knowing there's no context to justify that it just makes it not really all that deep. BTW, you're doing yourself a great disservice by not paying attention to lyrics (check Bosse-de-Nage if you want some lyrical blackgaze)

fun fact: it looks like snow in the video but, actually, it's all the salt from the fucking comments section
Lot of people criticizing the lack of lyrics, I guess some don't understand that in this band vocals are just to add another layer to the sound. More like an instrument, the music is the one that drives the mood of the song.

the vocalists screams are so primal and angsty. If you have ever heard someone see their loved one die right in front of them it is almost uncanny how well he encapsulates the timbre and tone of that scream.

When I first heard this song I just heard the song. No visuals of the band no reviews or read any public criticism on them. I really liked this track and still really do like this song. I've been listening to metal for over 20 yrs now and I must say I wouldn't really classify this as any particular type of metal but I still enjoy it. I can completely understand why people call it hipster shit because at the end of the day it does seem to be some kind of hipster shit and far from the normal traditional black metal I listen to. I dunno what my point is here. ...I like the track but it's Another subgenre of metal? Enjoy it for what it is or just fkn hate it hahaha.

It's DSBM if you were wondering. This is more to the Post-Black side of the spectrum, but there's a while genre out there. And it's a wide one

This video is the perfect visual introduction to this band and "who they are". They remain nameless, which is awesome. It has always been about the music for GHOST BATH and that is very apparent here. This video is chillingly beautiful and perfectly embodies the songs essence in a new format. Well done, GHOST BATH.... Well done.

It's not easy to do a good music matching with this vocal, and it's all combining perfectly. my compliments for the band. Long life for you all even if you prefer death.

Extremely emotional and depressing. Then again, that is the point of the music. Its a shame to see people complaining about no lyrics. Vocals can be used in any way the artist prefers. Whether he/she wants to be bound by language or coherent words to express themself is their choice. That piano at the ending is simply perfect. The number of dislikes simply show that everybody cannot be satisified, and shouldnt be. Music is as you guys say, an expression of the soul. Bravo. Keep up the great work.
