I'd try double checking that your cross pieces are correct. Sometimes the triangular corners and trapezoidal edges can look really similar, and can be easily misplaced. You can also just try isolating one piece at a time: flip it or replace it with another similar-looking piece, then try to solve the rest of the cube.

I have a recurring issue with the sune algorithm part. It sometimes happens to me and sometimes doesn’t (most of the time it does). Basically I have two edges that are aligned with the center and two others that aren’t. No matter how many times I perform the sun algorithm, there are always either no edges solved or two edges solved. I haven’t found a way to prevent or solve this and I need some help

I had the same issue until I remembered that you really have to make sure the correct pieces are in their places in the first two layers. My issue was that I had the incorrect piece placed in my white cross (it’s the triangular shape that’s opposite of the Adam sticker on my ghost cube). Once I switched it out with a piece that looks similar in my third layer, it solved my problem.

If you've done the algorithm three times and you haven't gotten the edges to their places, try it from a different angle. The algorithm cycles three pieces at a time, so maybe try an OLL once (F R U R' U' F' or F U R U' R' F') to fix edges that could potentially be flipped, then go back to R U R' U R U2 R' to see if that helped.

Try putting the two good edges to the back and right, then redo your top layer process while prioritizing one of the incorrect pieces, probably the one that's now in front. Solve the top layer by doing F R U R' U' F' or F U R U' R' F' and making sure that your new edge you're focusing on is first flipped correctly, then aligned with the top layer center (by using the edge cycling algorithm). That might help clear the weird two-edge parity.

This tutorial has been amazing. But I'm so confused on the second layer. I am having a hard time finding which pieces fit where. And I thought the algorithm I needed to use was R U R U R U' R' U' R', but that just seems to misplace the pieces we oriented in the step before this one. Which algorithm should I be using for orienting the edges in the 2nd layer?
@lexivine80404 жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily need to use an algorithm when solving the second layer. Once you've got those middle layer centers rotated correctly, you can use some trial and error to solve the edges. Pick an edge you think might belong in the middle layer, and see if it lines up with any of the centers by using R or L moves. Once you find an edge that lays flush with a center, you can use the same process you would on a regular 3x3 put it in place. It might be helpful if you've got a 3x3 with you just to double check your process. Best of luck!
@paulw8584 жыл бұрын
@@lexivine8040 I'm having problems envisioning which pieces might fit. And that one algorithm is the method I use for placing the edge pieces to finish the 2nd layer in a regular 3x3. Am I looking at it the wrong way? Is it not the same as edge permutation on the 2nd layer on a 3x3? I'm sorry for this confusion. I'm just like at my wit's end!
@lexivine80404 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the algorithm, but you don't need to worry about permuting edges until the last layer. For me, I use a four move "algorithm" from the 3x3 beginner method. Either (U R U' R') or (U' L' U L) depending on the edge. To envision which edge piece goes where - think back to a regular 3x3. If you've got a blue and red edge piece, you know where it goes because if you align the blue side sticker over the blue center, you can rotate the blue center toward the red center and see that now the red sticker is next to the correct center. Now, undo your turn so that the blue and red edge is where it started (back in the top layer). Now you can insert the edge since you've determined it to be correct. It's obvious with a regular 3x3, but less with a ghost cube (rely on whether or not the edge lays flush with the center). I'd try watching the video again a couple times. You'll see the process where I determine whether or not an edge is correct, and then I show how to put it in place. And keep in mind that when you find the correct edge, it will look flush against the center, but not the bottom layer (due to the ghost cube's offset). I understand this explanation is super wordy, but I think you'll find success if you keep at it :)

@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
Once you begin solving the last layer, try to prioritize that at least one edge is facing the right way according to the center as well (as you saw, it's not enough that the edges are correct compared to each other, they must also line up with their center of the final layer). I haven't found a way to get out of your predicament once it has already happened, but you can prevent that from happening in the first place if you make sure that the edge you're working on is guaranteed to line up with its center. If you already know that one of your centers is facing the correct way, (for instance, the edge piece that looks like a pencil) you can do the algorithm that rearranges edges [R U R' U R U2 R'] to move your lone correct edge piece to match the center of the top layer. Then you can go about solving the rest of the layer how you normally would.

Lexi Vine so now I can get it where two edges are lined up but two are mixed up so do I have the wrong edge or wrong corner pieces?
@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
See if you can replicate your scenario on a regular 3x3. It might help to have a different perspective on the puzzle. Think about how certain algorithms affect all of the pieces, not just the ones that are "wrong" (the OLL, edge, and corner algs). On a regular 3x3, it's much easier to see how a flipped or misplaced piece can affect the rest of the puzzle. And as much as we might not want to, restarting might be a good idea if we already know how to get this far. Also, it's an opportunity to practice getting to the final layer again. What cube are you using by the way? I feel like ghost cubes could have a slight variance depending on the company, so certain pieces might not be exactly the same shape.

@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
If the rectangular piece is very obviously not lining up with the center, it's flipped. If it's just slightly off, it's either the wrong rectangular piece, or it's correct but not obvious without the context of the other pieces.

Lexi Vine on the top layer i have ended up with two edges (the rectangle and pencil) correct but the two trapezoids are flipped how do i orient just two edges and keep the other two
@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
If you're trying to flip two edges, do the algorithm for either the hook or bar on a regular 3x3 (depending on which edges you want to leave unaffected). If they've already been oriented, but they're in the wrong spot, you might have one of the edges swapped. Working backwards, I switched one of the trapezoids from the top layer with one from the cross, and got the same scenario you were describing.

Good tutorial but you didn’t say how to rotate last center
@lexivine8040 Жыл бұрын
On the last layer, you'll want to make sure you line up the edges with the center, as you use the the FURU'R'F' / FRUR'U'F' algorithms. If any edges happen to align with the center, that's a good start. You can also use the RUR'URU2 algorithm, as it cycles the edge pieces. If you you solve the entire puzzle, but the center is rotated by 180 degrees, a well-known algorithm to use is (R U R' U) x5.

I solved the first layer but I keep rewinding back and can’t understand wth I’m supposed to do
@lexivine80404 жыл бұрын
After you've done the first layer, the next step would be to rotate the four adjacent centers. Start out by seeing if any are aligned already by rotating your completed first layer and checking if any of the centers line up. The centers should be flush/flat and follow the angle set by the first completed layer. If none of the centers are aligned already, it's not a problem. In the video, I explain how you can identify these centers and fix them. I'd give it another go. Good luck! If it helps, you could keep a regular 3x3 with you to help you remember the muscle memory/process in solving. I always try to relate these puzzles to their base function (in this case, the ghost cube is a 3x3).

Hi, I am experiencing an issue when it comes to the last layer when two of the corners are in place but the other two aren’t (btw they definitely aren’t in the right spot so they can’t just be rotated) and I cannot fix it. plz help :(
@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
I'd double check that none of your corners have been misplaced since the triangular ones can look pretty similar. Sometimes the edge pieces can mess with the corners and how they cycle as well, so I'd make absolutely sure those are in the right place (especially the trapezoidal ones). Depending on your cube, it may or may not be as easy to spot issues with false equivalency. When in doubt, I'd try swapping a piece from the bottom layer and top layer to see what happens-just be sure to keep track of it. You could always restart the solve. It may seem counterproductive, but it's a great way to practice the steps you already know. You might be surprised with how much easier it is to get to the last layer again.

What if the last two edge pieces are switch for the u’ r’ u r algorithm idk what to do because they are switched
@lexivine80404 жыл бұрын
Are your two edge pieces just in the wrong spot, or are they just flipped? If they're in the wrong spot, you could try focusing on one of the incorrect edges by redoing the edge cycling algorithm with your piece of choice in the "safe" area. Then solve the rest of your last layer from there. You can check if your edge is flipped by rotating the top layer to see if the pieces you're working on ever lays flat with a portion of the middle layer. If they're flipped, you can do F U R U' R' F (hold the incorrect edges to the right and bottom) or F R U R' U' F' (hold the incorrect edges to the top and bottom) If all else fails, you could always restart the top layer since you've already gotten this far. Good luck!

What happens is you get two edges on the last layer? Because I can’t solve mine
@lexivine80405 жыл бұрын
There are a few options: If all edges are oriented correctly, but only two are in the right place, put the two correct edges in the top and right (still with the last layer on top of course) and try R U R' U R U2 R'. That should break up the cycle in a way where you can start anew and get the pieces to line up better. I'm not exactly sure what to do if they're across from each other, so you might have to experiment with the setup. If only two edges are oriented correctly, align them as either the hook or bar on a regular 3x3, then do the corresponding algorithm (F U R U' R' F' or F R U R' U' F') with the correct pieces forming the hook or bar. You can also check if the edge pieces are oriented correctly be seeing how each one fits against the middle layer. Just focus on one edge at a time and rotate the layer until you determine whether or not it lines up. This is helpful since it isn't always obvious if certain edges such as the trapezoids and rectangle are correct if you compare them only to the last layer center.

@lexivine80404 жыл бұрын
Be sure your second layer centers are correct by checking them against the first completed layer. Remember the ghost cube's offset - your second layer edges will align with thr first layer's corners and edges. Then you do some trial and error with the edges the see which ones fit with the centers.

what if two of my top edges will not line up?
@lexivine80403 жыл бұрын
This is a common thing that can happen. See if you can figure out why they're not lined up, then go from there. There are two common scenarios: 1. Are they flipped the wrong way, meaning you need to use an OLL algorithm (F R U R' U' F' or F U R U' R' F') to solve them? Try one of these algorithms and see if it helps. You can check if an individual edge is flipped by rotating the top layer and seeing if it lines up with anything from the middle layer. 2. If your edges are correct, but simply in the wrong place, this can require more trial and error. Try restarting the top layer and prioritizing the process based on an incorrect edge. For example, if the rectangular edge piece is wrong, focus on solving that particular piece in relation to the top layer center and ignore all other pieces until it's solved. Then you can go about solving the rest of the edges and corners. You should also double check that none of the top layer pieces have snuck into the other layers. Sometimes the trapezoid edge can be in the wrong place. Best of luck!

First, I'd double check how your two corners are incorrect. Are they just needing to be rotated using the final algorithm, or are they completely in the wrong location? Unfortunately I don't know an exact algorithm to get you out of the latter situation, however you may be able to solve your cube by focusing on one of the incorrect corners. Prioritize your new corner by making sure it's both rotated and in the right spot by going through the two algorithms, and hopefully you won't have that two-corner parity. Good luck :)
