Must be a relief when a fruit tastes better than you expected! :)

Hi Jared! Love, Love your videos!! I’m a self-proclaimed ‘Fruitie’. You know like ‘Foodies’ except I freak for fruit. As I was growing up my Mom would buy me an exotic fruit when there was something new she hadn’t seen before in the supermarket. It was kind of special that was just because she knew I loved fruit so much! Your ‘set’varies so much so I’m not being critical here. Sometimes you show the fruit as you cut it and the inside before you taste it, but other times you don’t. I really like and appreciate the full experience. In this video we barely saw the inside of the ghost lime. In the exotic limes vid it was better but not great. Also many of the citrus videos you seem to cut the fruit pole to pole instead of along the equator. Why? I’d of loved to see the palmelo cut along the equator. It would give me a better sense of fruit to pith ratio. It was nice to see the limes cut this way. It also shows amount of seeds better. I really like the research and scientific information you gather and share. The comments above are just because I can’t reach through website portal and examine it myself!!! Thanks and I hope you continue! Bernadette (2 b taken at face value from the Fruitie) 🍓🍇🍉🍌🍒🍒🍒🥑🍍🍑🍊🍐🥝🍋🍈🍒🍌🍉 BUT🚫🍎🍏

Thanks Bernadette! I had a very similar experience when I was a kid. My mother would allow me to get one thing as a treat, but it had to be healthy. I would always pick up the most interesting fruit I could find. Yeah, I kind of cringe watching my old videos. This one was filmed about 4 years ago. There is a lot of variation in quality because I am running around different countries with varying states of technology and often hotels have horrible lighting. In Bolivia for instance there isn't much fruit close ups and such because my tripod broke the moment I got off the plane, so I was literally balancing my camera on an ice cream bean for all those videos. In Japan my viewfinder stopped working, so I couldn't even see what I was filming. Traveling throws a wrench into the works, but as the series goes on I hope you can see the improvements. Thanks for writing.

It's Burkillanthus malaccensis, a very close relative of the Citrus genus!

well remember, if she floats in water that means shes made of wood. and ducks float on water, which means ducks are wood. so if she drowns, shes a witch. if she floats, shes just an innocent wooden duck girl. (paraphrased monty python)

You know, you are only touching the tip of the iceberg with this fruit types. Also, I'm the boat with you on all the Hoo Doo, of Voo doo stuff, but often people will share the same hallucination, which is weird. I don't imagine you have to worry much, except if you take to chew on Jimson weed pods.

I've been watching your videos as I've been shiny hunting in my pokemon game (hours of very mindless, kinda tedious button mashing) and I really appreciate being able to learn about all of these interesting fruit! I wanted to point out that the "Maybe that's the ghost.." bit made me laugh, really hard. thank you, lol

Jared, watching some old eps and the opening music is missing on this one. Dunno if youtube stripped it, but Its gone.

Yeah I had to remove it from several videos because of copyright issues.

yep. a whole bunch of them. I wasn't monetizing these back then.

I have to wonder if this was an intentional cross-breeding experiment of various citruses, or if it was a lucky find in the wild.

Jared Rydelek This actually looked like a pleasant surprise for you, I think the more important question that begs to be asked of the Ghost Lime, and that is- How would it pair with some good tequila and crushed ice? Great vid as always!
@WeirdExplorer9 жыл бұрын
izonker I'd say it would work pretty well mixed in a drink. Its pretty mild though, so you'd need to use it in the proportions you'd use orange juice. A ghost lime mimosa maybe. :)
@izonker9 жыл бұрын
Jared Rydelek Out of curiosity, have you ever come across a Rangpur (Red) Lime? I ran across one in a local Nursery some years back, and never since, it has a small (about the size of a large key lime) fruit that is a beautiful deep orange to red fruit, thin rind and an flavor that I would describe as a sweet lime or pleasantly sour tangerine. Only came across the one tree (I live in Central Ca near Yosemite , so not exactly Citrus-friendly climate,mostly indoor botanical gardens or greenhouses) and even then it was ridiculously expensive for the tree. If you ever run across one of the fruits, I would definitely recommend trying it.
@WeirdExplorer9 жыл бұрын
izonker I haven't had that one. According to the internet, its a hybrid between a mandarin and a lemon. That sounds pretty tasty, hope to try it.
@izonker9 жыл бұрын
Nathan Taffijn Thank you for that information. And those prices are certainly much better than the local nursery where I found the one I did, as they were selling that particular specimen for about five times that price (somewhere around $80-$100 USD for the single tree that they had)...
@WeirdExplorer9 жыл бұрын
Nathan Taffijn I've considered doing this. I'm just not sure exactly how to deal with the legalities and all that.

This is not actually a lime. It's often called a "false lime" but it's in the same genus as poinsettia and cassava.
@nopushbutton4 жыл бұрын
Are you certain? This doesn't look like a real false lime, I think the guy might have sold him the wrong thing. Real false limes look pretty different inside...

Put some music or something in the intro... thought my volume had to be broken. I don't know about all that other stuff, but I can see how it could open the pores of your aura. I'm always looking for a nice aura exfoliant.

Jared, are you sure that this is Limau hantu? Some cursory searching makes me doubt you got the right thing here.

Hey I don't think you got the name right, googling ghost lime or limau hantu doesn't come up with anything close to what you showed in this video
