Honestly, the X-Men and Batman are different from a characterization perspective. It was talked about in a different comic, and constantly highlighted, but Bruce Wayne is a rich kid whose parents were gunned down in an alley. He doesn't know what it means to be hungry because he didn't have the resources to go without, to be homeless, to live on the bottom floor of society. Honestly, anything he did for the sake of training was his "choice" from a character perspective. On top of that, Batman stories 9 times out of ten end up returning batman to his status quo of being a rich socialite that fights beings way greater than him and still ending up on top because "prep time" or because of popularity. Meanwhile, the X-men, many of them are abused, many have starved, many are outcasts of society because of their powers, their genes, their very existence strikes fear into the people of their world. They live on the bottom floor of society. Depending on the source material, mutants have lived in sewers, and whenever things are looking up, boom, here comes another massacre to wipe out tons of mutants. The most recent run of the X-men is probably the first time things have turned out "well" for the X-men, and they're in a fight for their lives where members of the X-men are likely going to permanently die. Returning to the status quo for them means returning to being hated just because they were born with power. And even though they may be popular, that doesn't mean that their lives are good, unlike Batman who CHOOOSES, to live his life this way.

There’s the argument to be made that Ghost Hunter (and Batman) would only go after the “big guns”, ones that would likely never be reformed and should be killed. But I call BS on that counter argument. Drawing the line in your head as a vigilante just means your arrogant and have decided to play god with people’s lives. And you can never tell who can and cannot be redeemed. Jason Todd is an example of that after coming back from the dead and coming back as a murderous vigilante. Now think of the good he has done since then and what would have happened if Batman decided to end Jason Todd’s life for crossing the line.

Gonna say the unpopular opinion but Ghostmaker is doing the exact same thing that has messed up Batman. He’s trying to tackle Batman instead of just solving those crimes. Like let me put it like this, if I were Ghostmaker, I’m not gonna waste time trying to beat up Batman. If I’m truly better, I’ll just announce myself to Gotham as their savior and solve those crimes. Expose those criminals and call the cops. Let the public opinion decide that they like me more than Batman to where they turn against him all by themselves.

Another unpopular opinion: the mass is not always right. It is fundamentally wrong to kill even judging a serial killer you have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he can reform himself(obviously there is a limit and due punishment). Just as a human has an infinite potential to do good as well evil. But sadly I guess I'm the only one who thinks like this. The correct answer, of course, is fixing the judicial system. When judges are corrupt, and entire police departments are corrupt, and even guards in mental asylums are corrupt, and the doctors running those asylums are corrupt, then maybe, just maybe the problem doesn't lie with the petty criminals and an occasional villain. Bruce should run for mayor, and if that doesn't work, then governor. Spend the time and resources he has on running for political positions. Appoint good, incorruptible people, heck maybe ask for help from outside. But Batman as a political drama wouldn't sell, because there would be no punching, and that would not be Batman, but Bruce Wayne.

@@malus1426 See, there are two problems with that stance that keep coming up. 1) You're not a ridiculously-dressed cop. You're a *vigilante* . The whole point of being a vigilante is that you're supposed to be able to do the things that the cops can't, and deliver justice unto people the law can't touch. If some guy killed my kid in cold blood, and kept his bones as a trophy, he'd be fucking dead, law be damned. I wouldn't be doing it if the law actually put that godless animal away like it was supposed to. 2) It's been proven time and again that people like The Joker are wholly irredeemable, and the facilities meant to hold/treat them are woefully insufficient, and only allow them to recuperate before escaping and harming yet more innocent people.

Actually he didn't cancel out his own arguments at all. The moving the line argument was used to somewhat explain what would happen if he actually started killing people. The second statement "when will batman stop making excuses for people" is making an attempt to poke a hole in Bruce's no killing rule itself. Meaning when will you stop making excuses for this criminals (joker, two-face, etc) and kill them before they take out even more people than they already have.

I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to see a storyline from the perspective of a child who became orphaned because the Joker/two-face/whatever super villain killed his parents - after Batman had given that villain chance after chance to stop killing people. And get this, the kid doesn't grow up to be some revenge-seeking maniac. He's just a logical person who FINALLY brings Batman to task and confront the consequences of his unwillingness to do what's necessary against SUPER VILLAINS of the Joker's caliber. i.e. dead innocents who may have been parents, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters etc., and how the people left behind have to cope. No one forced Batman to put on the cape and cowl and fight these villains but he took on the responsibility of his own accord, so he has to be brought to face the consequences of his unwillingness to do what he needed to do to protect the people of Gotham.

I see this story going that way. Yea getting that feeling too. I'm a bit iffy about the Joker part since we had Joker War and Three Jokers, but Joker does seem like the character that would tear Gotham apart if he knew that Batman was replaced by some new guy that kills people. That part in the Dark Designs arc with Deathstroke saying that Batman escalated the war against crime seems to give me an idea where Ghost Maker is going to make the city worst, probably starts with the police not trusting him since they trust Batman and his methods. Then if DC is ballsy have Ghost Maker start killing the inmates in Arkham (could be D-list with the excuse that the A-list already broke out) giving him public support, but later fear since he'd keep killing criminals which doesn't really give their victims any legal closure as mention in the video 11:00.

Ghostmaker's goals are to bring justice to the lawless, regardless of the efficacy of the law, regardless of the other possibilities. That's not much different from anyone else, except that this guy also is willing to kill people. "Breaking one law to enforce another" doesn't make sense, like you said, but leaders should be willing to question the integrity of the law in the first place. So if someone like Ghostmaker had the opportunity to respond to what you said, their best argument would probably go like this: 'When the law doesn't work, do you support inaction? What else are you going to do, leave him in the hands of authorities that have consistently displayed their lack of desire to produce a decent Gotham?' You shouldn't be mad at the people trying to fix things. You should be mad at the people who spend their careers profiting off furthering the problems, or neglecting the problems. (American Politics)

Batman doesn’t believe he should wield the power of life and death. There is still a very contentious societal debate surrounding whether the State should be allowed that authority. Rob makes the argument that the citizens of Gotham don’t stand up to Batman nor the villains, so they get what they deserve. However, I think that’s an overly critical perspective regarding the poor and struggling. After all, the people of Gotham often want change, but do not want to die or put their loved ones’ lives in danger for that change. Batman may be trying to make a broken system work, but at least he still believes that the system can work. While this may be optimistic on Batman’s part, the alternative simply leads to anarchy and power vacuums.

He's got beef with ClownHunter because clown hunter is killing based of off vengeance and his feelings. The only people clownhunter has killed is joker gang members. While GhostMaker is killing gang members, rapist and etc. While also not killing some of them too because, he is doing all of it based on what is RIGHT(in his opinion) and not putting his feelings in the way (as batman does sometimes) and it technically does and doesn't go against his code because he's killing a serial killer (in his eyes) the boy could have gone a different route but no. He dressed up supe instead with that being said. GhostMaker is saying batman sucks because he isnt killing or stopping situations and etc before it happens or let is happens, cause if batman was a good role model for the city like he claims to be or the city does, ClownHunter could have arrested the gang members. Instead he became another killer, In the City full of killers. He's chosen to become part of the tainted city instead of redeeming it. (In the Ghost Maker eyes) Batmans role for the city could be bigger and more of a model to those. But instead the city turns it eyes agaisnt batman. And it was proven in the joker war.

I really like this story so far and I see your point about Batman being a half measure, but I still side with Batman over Ghost-Maker. I agree that some people deserve the death penalty for their actions, but that’s for the courts to decide, not vigilantes. You could say that the courts in Gotham are totally corrupt, and you would probably be right to a degree; but it’s up to the people to elect officials who fight for justice in their own way, in the courtrooms and in their neighbourhoods rather than donning a cloak and cowl and beating the tar out of some criminals. I think it would be very interesting to get a story where it’s up to the people to make Gotham better instead of Batman and his rogues. Or maybe Bruce Wayne can make a bigger difference than Batman can in the lives of the people he protects. If the citizens of Gotham want to make their city a better place, it’s up to them. If they like Gotham the way it is, maybe it’s time for Batman to go to a city that actually appreciates what he does.

But my main argument is Ghostmaker is no different from Redhood or Clownhunter. He just doesn’t want others to do what he’s doing bc he has a superiority complex and that’s how villainy starts. Ghostmaker is a full blown villain compared to Batman. Again, Batman not killing his rogues is the ONLY thing keeping him from being considered a villain himself.

Yeah, that's literally what the comic is saying. I think Robb is going to be in for a rude awakening. The author was proving that point both, with the Batman pulling the reverse uno card on Ghostmaker, as well as Clownhunter and Harley's conversation. Both points were showing that having a black and white "you're bad so you die" view is largely juvenile and lacks strong nuance. The point of Ghostmaker going "ha, but what about Clownhunter? He's scum that should die" was MEANT to point out that _"wait a minute, don't they have the same ideology?"_ meaning that Ghostmaker (and Robb) are essentially repudiating their *own* views. It's actually really brilliant what's happening and much better storytelling than the Azrael or the Red Hood renditions.

@@Malthizar I very much agree with your points and Ghostmaker is just Redhood at his extreme IMO but even Redhood had some grey area. If you cant eliminate the crime then just control it to mitigate the damage it would do to the city. Ghostmaker gets a lot of hype tho for being more formidable in combat than Bruce and his outfit is soooo freaking dope which is why I think a lot of people have become so enamored with him. He been beating the bat for decades and looks dope while doing it. Redhood and Azreal only gave him a good fight. But if Jason studied under the tutelage of Ghostmaker or his teachers I’m sure he’s be just as capable of not more than Bruce 🤷🏻‍♂️ But I’m also biased cuz Redhood is my favorite DC character lol

2 things rob is missing. First off, batman is totally seeing himself in clown killer, I think he's considering trying to reign him in, possibly in a new Robin role, not saying it would actually happen, but possibly batman's intent. Second, the people clown killer was going after were joker thugs right? The kind of people rob is saying batman should just kill anyways, but now he's celebrating ghost killer wanting to kill him? That's a bigger thing than the "line in the sand" argument, if you're willing to kill criminals like that, then you're apparently just as much a criminal as the guys you're killing, at least according to the next guy coming into town wanting to kill criminals.

What about 7? Does who gets killed matter? The people of Gotham clearly were not crying out for legally enforced executions. So why should some random have the authority to kill based on his beliefs (the worst kinds of killers are the ones who think they are helping as they never run out of targets) What if you killed me then found out I was innocent? you are now a murderer aswell Its easy to say joker should die but what about the 50th guy down the line Sorry I am very blazed right now

_"Like criminals are just _*_executed_*_ , right? Like, they're just killed. _*_Not, not like baseline drug-dealing crimainals_*_ , but like sadistic ones..."_ Bruh, how can you say that with a straight face and not legitimately realize you are falling into the slippery slope mindset? When you were first talking about how Batman was a "half-measure", you literally started with "just kill the Joker". Now it's "execute 'sadistic' criminals". Even your argument for getting rid of Clownhunter shows just how cannibalistic and innately destructive "killing villains" is as an ideology. Clownhunter has your EXACT view. Not, "kind of", not "pretty much". You literally equated him to OG Jason Todd Red Hood. The people he's murdering aren't innocent victims. They were, a few episodes ago mind you, insane people reveling in evil behavior under the Joker's rule. Your own words were that Clownhunter was a real man doing what real men needed to do when faced with evil and violence. Now a few episodes later, you're treating that same guy as if he was some deranged serial killer that needs to be put down. Bruh, I think you're legitimately becoming a supervillain.

" I think hes a better Batman than Batman" Now normally im not one to defend Batman, but Ghost Maker is just another emotionless bastard who thinks with "his head" not willingly to go so far as to be human while trying to protect the things he wants to protect/guard or whatever. A superiority complex because hes SOOOOO detached. Gotham...is chaotic, filled with people who dont give two shits about the other people besides themselves. How is going in like a cold machine going to make that better? And hes going after a kid whose killing affiliates to Joker for fucks sake. When he HIMSELF is just going around killing other crime affiliates. How does that make him better? He was onto something with exposing judges, and criminals without a "cute costume" (I will give him that) but jesus he acts like he just took out the Joker, Bane, The Riddler etc.....like the MAIN BIG Threats to Gotham.

He was just killing no named thugs who at the end of the day werent he big source of Gothams problems that brought immediate results. From what ive come to understand, violence to the extent of killing in Gotham...will just bring in more violence. With the way Batman has operated, hes converted people to the good side. Clayface and Harley Quinn. And they have done alot of good. Took some time but look where we are? Ghost Maker is looking for NO chance of that.

@Gabriel Vinícius do Nascimento And I agree. Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue of Red Hood and Ghost Maker fought in Gotham? Im sure alot of people would be killed.
