The intro is slightly wrong. Every start of the 4th bar in this 8 bar riff starts off differently. I transcribed the song before I knew that the official bass line was up on KZbin. You can find the correct version here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3SUe59jmLBnrqc

This was pretty helpful. Theres a few other riffs in this song that would be helpful to break down like this. Example, those 9 note bursts around the 6:27 mark? Theres a few riffs in this monster of a song that would be great to hear without vocals and slowed down to the click or drums as in this link. Great stuff. I love this channel. Thank you!

Damn, I never really realized how awesome some of Opeth’s bass lines truly are before I watched your channel. Martin Mendez, underrated imo.

I don't understand why they bury these bass lines in the mix. He's playing his ass off and you can barely hear any of it.

@@nathanrogers8460 You can feel it though. Remove the bass and it's suddenly super empty.

I think this is the toughest Opeth song I've encountered yet going through your channel. Cant believe how challenging it is, and how creative Martin Mendez is. Some of these riffs are really complicated and long, and robust, yet groove oriented and just brutal. I love it. This is one of the reasons Ghost Reveries is their magnus opus, awesome song writting and amazing bass work. I can clearly see this one is going to take me a good while to learn, but thats how you grow as a musician. Push yourself to play challenging songs. This song is challenging to me, I am curious to know which Opeth songs have been the most challenging for you. Really impressive cover and tabs Leo. Thank you very much.
@LeoBassCovers23 жыл бұрын
Oh definitely. I have covered about 60 Opeth songs and this song will always be the most difficult song. Lotus Eater comes close, but it's not quite as intense as this one. The part at 1:22 is already so difficult to master. So yeah, good luck with learning this one man!
@residentkrockhead3 жыл бұрын
This song is really challenging when played finger-style! It’s also really gotten me into older Opeth because I actually first heard them with their stuff from Sorceress. I love the technical style of writing here. Cheers!

Playing most bands I play it's like what half an hour at best to get a bassline through.With Opeth its like a boss fight, this must've taken me at least 4 hours in total. What a monster jam
