terrialan3 ~ Yup. We've posted about the history of this song MANY times in these comments. To quote from one of our past posts "... It was written in 1948 by Stan Jones. *Our arrangement and video interpretation were inspired by the classic Johnny Cash version of 1979.* The melody by Stan Jones is based on the song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” A number of versions were crossover hits on the pop charts in 1949. The ASCAP database lists the song as “Riders in the Sky” (title code: 480028324), but the title has been written as “Ghost Riders”, “Ghost Riders in the Sky”, and “A Cowboy Legend”. *More than 50 performers from Bing Crosby to Children of Bodom have recorded versions of the song.* According to Robby Krieger, it inspired the classic Doors song “Riders on the Storm.” We always have to know our music and sources because we pay to legally license our cover versions with the original artist's publisher." (end quote) There is only so much space to include info in the title area. Thank you for visiting!! Blessings, x2

@@HarpTwins OK, thanks. I didn't read too deep into the comments. I've just seen so many videos that arbitrarily credit one of many perforners and not the songwriter(s) that I have started commenting without checking first. I will delete my original comment. (However, the title of the video still annoys me no end.)

We arrange the music, find/scout the video locations, find or make our costumes, film with a small hand-held video camera on a tripod, record the sound in our living room, and edit the videos ourselves. We have no crew, production people, studio, special equipment or backtrack. And, no worries, your English is excellent !

Thank you, and welcome to more of our radical duet harp revolution! wink x2 To our thinking GHOST RIDERS is a humorous cover for harp since the lyrics warn: "you better change your ways today.." Plus, Johnny Cash, with possibly the most recognized cover, was known for straddling heaven and hell. And speaking of covers, more than 50 well known artists ranging from Children of Bodom to Bing Crosby have covered it, so there is plenty of room for personal interpretations and tempo variations.

This is such an awesome video!! I love this song and you both have done an excellent job with your arrangement. Totally perfect setting!👍 Having the bison, cows and horses made it that much more realistic. Lovely bass notes from your harps. And LOVE the galloping! What a cool place you found for your shoot. I think of the version with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. This is such an awesome video/performance all the way around. Those statues are incredible. I really appreciate how beautifully you arranged and shot this video. It all added a lot to the mood and ambience of the song. My birdies loved it too, by the way. My cable co recently added KZbin as a free "app", and every night when I put Peeps and Jamison to bed, I start playing whatever comes on first thru the tv! I've got to try it with my surround sound.. that will be amazing!😆 Anyhow, they've been really enjoying all they've seen/heard also. Your beautiful music helps so much with the stresses of the day!! Love it as always. Ladies, I just hope this all doesn't t get old, frustrating, or discouraging for you. There is so much work involved in each of your performances. I hope you both and your Mom, etc. are also taking time off away from the harps and cameras, just to relax and be humans doing other things as well. Don't let yourselves get burned out! Take your time, and enjoy your lives, such that the work you do with your excellent presentations, doesn't ever suffer, and such that quality is always superb! I think many would agree with me, that what you are doing is qood for our souls! You are connecting with so many fellow humans all over this Planet. who knows, maybe your performances are being appreciated by other beings in other Universes as well? I sometimes have wondered if in fact, you both are not sent here to Earth from some other existence, to bless us all with something we do not even understand that you are giving to us? It's rather surreal.

Not to be a Internet Troll but Johnny Cash only did a cover of this song and not the original recording of it. The first recording of Ghost Riders In The Sky was by Burl Ives, you can find it on youtube. Burl Ives is most likely recognized as the Snowman/Narrator in the animated Christmas classic, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. who sang Silver And Gold and Have A Holly Jolly Christmas in the program.

+MsPrincesspaulina ~ Actually, the first recording this song was by Stan Jones, the song writer, who recorded his song in 1948, the year before Vaughn Monroe (the most successful), Bing Crosby, Spike Jones, Peggy Lee, Burl Ives, and Gene Autry (who sang it in the 1949 movie, Riders in the Sky). We've posted about the history of this song MANY times in these comments. To quote from our pinned post: (start quote) "... It was written in 1948 by Stan Jones. *Our arrangement and video interpretation were inspired by the classic Johnny Cash version of 1979*. The melody by Stan Jones is based on the song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” A number of versions were crossover hits on the pop charts in 1949. I guess I should have scrolled further down in the comments to see that this has been discussed already. Oh well, sorry. Ok, I'm wrong I admit it. The melody by Stan Jones is based on the song “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” A number of versions were crossover hits on the pop charts in 1949. The ASCAP database lists the song as “Riders in the Sky” (title code: 480028324), but the title has been written as “Ghost Riders”, “Ghost Riders in the Sky”, and “A Cowboy Legend”. *More than 50 performers from Bing Crosby to Children of Bodom have recorded versions of the song*. According to Robby Krieger, it inspired the classic Doors song “Riders on the Storm.” *We always have to know our music and sources because we pay to legally license our cover versions with the original artist's publisher.* There is only so much space to include info in the title area. Thank you for visiting!! Blessings, x2

What is the technical / acoustical effect of the harp pedal(s)? Anything similar to those on a piano? I was in band for 12 years, around many types of instruments, but rarely ever a harp, and never noticed pedals before. Thanks in advance for any reply, Silk.
@HarpTwins
@HarpTwins 8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Silk ~ Thank you for your interest.The pedals change the pitch of the strings by changing the length. The pedals are very different from pedals on a piano. These acoustic concert grand pedal harps have 7 pedals, one for each note of the C scale. Every one of our 47 strings can be three different pitches (flat, natural, sharp) because we move each pedal into 3 different levels *while we are playing*. For our electric lever harps (i.e. Fear of the Dark, Nothing Else Matters) each of the 33 strings can be two different pitches (either flat/natural or natural/sharp) - changed by 33 levers that we reach up and flip *while we are playing*. Our little acoustic harps (i.e. Crazy Train, Zelda Lost Woods) have 26 strings and 26 corresponding levers. We only have a full chromatic scale if we change levers or pedals. You might enjoy joining our FACEBOOK facebook.com/CamilleandKennerly Our Facebook page has an "About" section where we have posted answers to every question you might think of. We also use our Facebook for bonus material, sneak peeks, fun features, slices of our "real” lives, interviews (both video and print), bloopers, behind the scenes, public performance information and more. :) :) Blessings, x2

Thank you! I will look up your link on facebook :-) Those harps must be a *royal pain* to keep in tune! :-/ :-) One would think they would be sensitive to the environment's temperature and humidity -- ?
@HarpTwins
@HarpTwins 8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Silk ~ Yes, harps go out of tune with every tiny change in their surroundings. We tune our harps daily (and sometimes more if we have a performance and are moving the harps). Sometimes we even tune during a performance when the room heats up or cools down. Tuning is an integral part of dedicated harping. ;) ;) Blessings, x2

We post a new video *every* month for our subscribers. We occasionally take commissions, but we are currently (mostly) focusing on our own original songs & projects like our new supernatural fantasy album & companion novel, *Twin Destinies* and our original Nordic fantasy album *Ice Born.* It is expensive to pay licensing to other artists for covering their songs. We are very grateful to be earning a wonderful audience for our original music! Thank you for visiting again. 💙💜

nightshade ~ Thank you for the kind comment! We love the challenge of arranging music for ONLY our two harp parts that was originally played by an entire rock group, or orchestra - using no backing track, no karaoke, no harp overlays, no loops, no studio, etc. It would be easier for us to post a literal cover of playing over a backing track, but we do not want to create a duplicate of something that already exists. Instead, we hope to create an arrangement that brings something new and different to a song that has already been done... it is our interpretation, not a note for note recreation. :) :) Sending love and blessings, x2 facebook.com/CamilleandKennerly instagram.com/camillekennerly/ twitter.com/CamilleKennerly
