@Joseph McKernan Jonathan did a ton of work years ago and built a following. The algorithm changed a while back and once he had that following he found that it made no difference anymore for him how much effort he put into the video side of things. He found that 95% of views were just people treating KZbin like Spotify, and now there's even KZbin Music, so he's doubled down. However I won't discount the fact that it's a lot harder for a female artist to get by on her voice alone. The visual presentation of a female musician does matter more, but I'll tell you right now, Jonathan Young had his day of dressup and costumes and suits and a big portion of his fans used to be and probably still are fangirls, so I can't say how different it is in this specific case.

@@netherveilgames996 i truly hope that's not true. a big part of why i keep watching joyo on yt instead of just making a spotify playlist and calling it done is the insane effort he put in some videos. a good exemple being his most recent of "be prepared" where he truly portray the crazyness of the character he's singing. and even his most recent cover valhalla's calling has some decent effort to dress up and stuff. it doesn't matter if he tries to look good (+ he kinda does anyway) but i really like the staging he puts in some of his video. although the animating trend started with galaktikraken is good too.

Be Prepared was many years ago. He's more interested in pursuing his original music, so if you want to support creators like him, check out his album Starship Velociraptor.
