You mentioned liking the look and feel of the game; that's a major factor I especially appreciate about this game. The designer seemed to have done some pretty good research on Chinese / Taoist culture and ritual. The tokens featuring octagon mirror, bell, rice and incense are Taoist ritual items. The general theme with hopping vampires, water spirits, Taoist exorcists are on-theme from old Hong Kong horror films. Wonderful!

We've played this more than any other board game. It's a pretty difficult game but you will get better. Currently, we are playing it with 5 boss cards mixed in and we often win. There's also a lot of variability and replay value in the game. For advanced players, playing without the starting Yin/Yang token makes the play style very different compared to when you start with it. The position of tiles also changes the play style as well as which powers you have. The game is a bit dice dependent but has little randomness because a major skill that you would need to learn is to reduce the effects of the dice.

Is it more luck or more skill?

Yeah, I doubt that if you are playing with 5 "bosses" and frequently win, that you are playing properly.

I do like the art of this game and am a sucker for the theme. Already have one brutal Co Op game, Robinson Crusoe, might try another.

It is faster than RC and less time to setup

Thanks for this, have always wanted to see a review for this but I never got hooked within the first few minutes of a full 15 minute sized reviews.

Cheers Daniel. That's our core thing here. No filler, just as much info as I can pack in. I like to think of it like a board gaming triage service. Just enough info to let you know if you want to dig deeper, or pass on a game.

Keep in mind, the colors on the dice fade after a while. That pissed me off. Some transparent tape will fix that.

Good to know, thats a pity

There is a fantasy reskin of this game available called "Last Bastion".

Great videos! Perfect for those without time/patience. Could we have "Carcassone" in 3 about mins?

The next month and a bit will be co-ops. But I am thinking of doing a month dedicated to "classics" in the near future. Will discuss with the patreon crew at some point

You should do a 3 minute review on Last Bastion.

You know, i've never even seen Last Bastion in store over here

Which one is better? Ghost or bastion
@victorgonzalez29272 жыл бұрын
@@undercover1921 I like the theme and art of Last Bastion better although there is more content for Ghost Stories in expansions. Zee Garcia of the Dice Tower does a comparison video.

your turn explanation sounds errorous or it had been updated .. the players start with the ghost effects on their board, then either lose 1 Qi for having a full board or place a ghost according to placement rules.
@tifpo336 жыл бұрын
Never realised that Ghoststories was dice dependent - especially with how well regarded the game is.
@3MBG6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, very much so. Which I could see really getting under some peoples skins if they dont like dice rolling.
@yogibbear6 жыл бұрын
The point is how you mitigate the dice rolling by using the different special powers of the monks and the tile locations. Saying you lost because of bad dice rolls means you were playing poorly
@Arjay822 жыл бұрын
That's because people that actually play it, and don't just automatically assume "dice=random=bad" enjoy it.

This was the first board game that I really didn’t like. It was way too convoluted and the rules didn’t explain anything clearly
@3MBG2 жыл бұрын
I got taught this one, so didn't check the rules until after i'd played it a bunch.
