I will ask my cousin Frances who lives in Gabbs if she remembers Vet Baxter. She has lived there since the 1950's. I've seen Pilot Cone several times on my visits to Gabbs. My dad, uncle, father-in-law and I took a drive to Rawhide in 1985 and the stone jail was still there. We were on a 3 day prospecting trip. Thank you for the tour of the Poinsettia Mine. I really enjoyed it.

Hi Brother Doug and Kellie 👋. A very appropriately named place to visit close to Christmas! I sure was surprised when you opened up that box to find booze !! Not what I was expecting at all. By the way, that was "my" raven following you around up there 😀. Tell Kellie I love almond cookies 🍪! Three cabins..I figure one for you Brother, one for me, and one for Kellie and Gloria when they come to visit us, lol 😆. It was fun as always Brother! 🇺🇸

@@Brother_D_therail Hey Brother D, you let your pet ravens out of their cage again...we could hardly get rid of those rascals. They are so smart I am surprised they didn't find the booze before we did. I think your cabin setup is perfect: 1 for U, 1 4 Me, and the other for the ladies (when they come to visit us). It was a great refreshing day! 🇺🇸🍪🤠🐎

After hiking up that ruggedly awesome, but pretty desolate trail, you both earned that healthy lunch.😋😋👏🏻 It looks like the boy scouts, and others, like both of you, who visit the cabins, keep them as clean as possible.🎉 Thank you for the pictures of the cabins in their heyday, and that interesting info that you and Kellie shared with us, including the original purposes of the Poinsettia Mines, and the man associated with them.🤗👏🏻 I'm glad that the mines are safe proof, or I guess that the scouts wouldn't have stayed there. The view of the ghost town from up above shows how isolated it is, in that expansive, rugged area. I would have loved to see the saloon in its prime. That stash was a find.😉 It seems that most people try to keep the place in good order.🎊 YIKES, an unmarked grave... ***This was certainly an informative, interesting, and enjoyable video, Doug and Kellie, as always. Those are cool gifts.👏🏻👏🏻🤗 I didn't realize that almond cookies are a symbol of good luck.🤔🤗

@@rhondaz356 Hi Rhonda! It is refreshing to find another outdoor spot that is respected and cared for, and enjoyed by so many over the years (Vet would be proud). I tried to give everyone a sense of the solitude and expanse of this remote area. I think walking in a place like this is a good way to experience and to share it. I hope I was able to communicate that with someone like you from New England, so that you can experience other areas of our great and beautiful country. We are starting to have some fun with the "Cookie Clips" as Kellie is getting into baking all types of new cookies every week that include a short back story. Brrrr, it was 18 this morning, I imagine the snow is coming your way this time of year. Hope your family stays warm! 🥇🙏🤠🇺🇸❄️☃️

The cabins are a little rough but of course city slicker me wouldn't stay there overnight. Would be a nice 4X4 car camping place if so inclined. Nice to find some history of the mine there at the county museum. You found the booze stash locker! Those crystals you found look like muscovite but I'm no expert on minerals. Great viewer gifts. Thanks for an amazing video again Doug and Kellie. Did you feel that earthquake yesterday afternoon? Centered in Yerington, NV and it was a magnitude 5.8! It was a strike- slip fault and most of the energy was to the sw and ne of it. I'm betting you didn't feel it.
@CalNevaКүн бұрын
@@hestheMaster Hi Steve! In fact I was at my desk downloading the video clips to edit for this video at the exact moment the quake hit and had to stay at my laptop so I didn't lose them. The window and wall were really shaking. Luckily no damages or injuries, HalleluYah. A neighbor came running across the street yelling for me, but I couldn't leave what I was doing (thus we have this video). It was a moderate quake. I opine there could be a big quake in CA soon. The mineral crystals were very soft, so perhaps they are gypsum, but still looking into it. Stay warm my friend.
