Ghost Towns of Alberta or Near Ghost Towns Travel in Southern Alberta, Canada #traveling Southern Alberta, Canada, boasts several #ghost #township or near ghost towns, which take visitors back in time to the area's historical past. These ghost towns are mostly abandoned settlements that once thrived during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Visiting these towns is an opportunity to get a glimpse of local history, and they are popular among travelers, history buffs, and photographers.
Along Highway 61 in deep southern Alberta you will find some or near ghost towns. In some places all that is left are empty fields. Most ghost towns were thriving communities during the 1920s however, the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl in the dirty thirties led to the towns demise.
