Which makes his whole point of view ironic, because while scolding Holden for wanting something he can't have- He's also pining over Holden, who is someone he cannot have.

Banky was heartbroken that his best friend in the world was suddenly turning into a whole new person that he didn't even recognize anymore. He just wouldn't have the same easy awesome camaraderie with this new Holden, that he had with the old.
