For next time. The 编码 that you typed is bianma which is "serial code" like a product code. And then later when Rambo dropped the note that said "xuyao daima" (i.e. "need code") they ignored it too because daima is 代码 which means computer code. Both would tip you off as a non-native speaker and make them sus. Instead of "daima" or “bianma” you need "mima" or 密码 in characters, which means passcode.
