Yaesu FT-891 Voice Record & Playback

How to activate the voice recorder and playback function on the Yaesu FT-891 and how to transmit the recorded audio via RF.

I have made a great discovery! If you go to message screen, select message, then long press one of your three buttons that can be set for various functions you now have the button indicating CH1 or which ever message you want. Return to main screen. Just short press the CH button and you will be able to stay on your main screen while playing recording. I want to again thank you for your help. I struggle with written direction that are written in certain ways. Kind of like people that can’t understand driving directions because people do it a different way than they used to.

Thanks for the video, can you use one of the preset A, B or C buttons to use playback for your recording while remaining on the frequency screen or do you have to keep going into the function menu to do it?

I’m not too sure about that, but wouldn’t be surprised if that were an option.

Great video… how do u delete a memory channel?

On top of the radio, press the M▶️V button, this should bring up the memory channel list. Use the multi-knob to scroll to the memory you want to delete. Press and hold the “C” button at bottom (will show “ERS” for “Erase” above that button on the screen). That should delete the frequency from the channel slot.

No wonder I couldn’t find it. Yaesu techs were drunk when they designed the menu system. One question, must I stay on that screen to use that ? Or can I assign one of the lower buttons to scroll back to that? Other wise the signal report is a guess.

They are a bit fuzzy if you are using them for the first time. However, across multiple Yaesu radios the menu item list is, at least, very similar between models.
