The idea that a soul is like a proto-Stand could give more context to why attempting to forcibly awaken a Stand can be fatal, in Holly's case for example her soul was literally being forced out of her body in the form of a Stand

That actually makes perfect sense. It also explains Koichi’s unique case where he only had partial resolve due to his immaturity and why he didn’t heal by himself like most arrow victims and needed Josuke. His Stand evolved along with his resolve as he matured over the course of the part.

It's also something to note that the alien virus in stand arrows brings you close to death, possibly activating your stand ability through your resolve to stay alive.
@somethingbanter
@somethingbanter 2 жыл бұрын
That reason is why I don't actually think the main purpose of the virus is to create a stand I think it is meant to be fully lethal but that something within humans allows them to survive and that the stand is just a naturally occurring thing that the virus happens to create the perfect breeding ground for by truly testing there resolve with a guaranteed fatal experience.

Since a type of limbo exists in the series, would it be possible for Diavolo to enter into that same limbo after his death in Part 5? I’ve been thinking that after he fell into the river and possibly drowned while bleeding out, his death loop must’ve happened at a metaphysical level and that it’s his soul that’s being “reduced to zero.” A sign that says that the death loop isn’t happening in the real world is that when he was stabbed he did not have access to King Crimson. Like with Yoshikage Kira, stand abilities are either taken away or simply rendered redundant by greater spiritual entities.
@lukewalkerr2d2
@lukewalkerr2d2 2 жыл бұрын
This is a very interesting idea, I've been thinking about what happened to Diavolo ever since the anime aired. If Giorno went down into the sewers to look for Diavolo, would he find his stabbed body? Or did Diavolos body literally dissappear after being stabbed? Or possibly your idea, and Diavolo did bleed out and drown in the river, and what Trish was feeling was Diavolos soul still remaining in the world somewhere. I'd be curious to hear what Araki would say about this topic.
@Umberman
@Umberman 2 жыл бұрын
Diavolo, in my opinion, had his body killed when GER punched him, but as an extension of GE's "being punched by GE makes time extend for a really long time", he'd entered into a cycle of constantly being *in the process* of dying, but never truly being able to actually die, a mix of GER's ability of deleting cause and effect as well as its original ability, basically throwing Diavolo into his own personal nightmare realm for all eternity, subjected to being almost killed time and time again, and then being reset to the moment GER punched him, about to die, and then looping over and over again. The main point of contention is if what's occuring to Diavolo is something that actually is legitimately happening, or GER is making him perceive these things as happening or if he's being inserted into the point of view of people that are dying or have died in similar ways

I'm not sure why, but I was always under the impression that Mista's encounter with Rolling Stones was the reason Bucciaratti remained "alive"; i.e. he changed Bucciaratti's fate through the interaction with that Stand, meaning that Bucciaratti was not fated to die the first time King Crimson fatally wounded him, and thus was able to keep living despite Giorno being unable to fully bring him back to life. I suppose I stand corrected, though.
@carloscauan7967

The point of that arc was to say that Mista's attempt to prevent Bucciarati's death only indirectly caused Narancia and Abbacchio to die as well.
@slimabob
@slimabob 2 жыл бұрын
I always understood this to be the case as well. The first form of the stone was his fated death against Diavolo, but Mista changing it altered the nature of his death, allowing him to cling on just a bit longer- as well as condemning some of his team to death in the process. But yeah I guess not.
@chlorophyll1767
@chlorophyll1767 2 жыл бұрын
@@carloscauan7967 Yeah, I got that much - but it seemed to me that there was some kind of exchange performed. Bucciaratti's life was extended, in exchange for the deaths of the other two. They're sleeping slaves to Fate, they really have no say over whether they live or die. Hence my read of it was that Diavolo uses King Crimson to cheat Fate and kill Bucciaratti, but Fate decrees that Bucciaratti must survive for longer due to that exchange of lives, and so he does. It always struck me as somewhat up to interpretation, at least.
@ernestoirrazabal6594
@ernestoirrazabal6594 2 жыл бұрын
My interpretation of that arc was similar, as I understood it, Rolling Stone gives you a more "Meaningful Death", it finds people who are going to die worthless deaths, and adds a positive outcome to their fated demise. Bucciarati was always going to die against Diavolo, and in that arc, it was Fugo who was going to meet Giorno, and most likely, kill him, a completly different outcome to that of Bucciarati meeting Giorno, as Fugo didn't have any intention of betraying the boss. So, the story without Giorno would have concluded on Diavolo killing Bucciarati and Trish, and that was it, the end of it. It's unclear what kind of "Positive" outcome would have been created if Rolling Stones came in contact with Bucciarati, maybe the mission to find Giorno would have been cancelled, and the gang would go on to get better positions in the association, everybody simply lives "better" more comfortable lifes. However, by Mista using Gravity to "destroy" Rolling Stones, a third path was created, one, of much sacrifice and death, but of plenty of positive outcomes as well. Is important to note that none of those 3 Deaths were "worthless" they all served a greater purpose that led to the defeat of Diavolo, the greates enemy of the Gang and of Fate it self. Trish, Giorno, Mista, Fugo, and even the rest of Italy, now live better lifes thanks to this outcome.

I like jojo's supernatural phenomena more than others because it feels more real. like instead of other stories which explain them fully. and in a way that makes sense, jojo's fictional forces are largely unexplained not-well-understood phenomena. much like ones in our world. like how with a lot of quantum mechanics, the answer is "we dont know. its just kinda like that." jojo's spiritual forces are like that. probably because Araki related them to real things in quantum mechanics.

This really makes sense now that i think about it. As people need determination to be able to become Stand users, they also need it for their soul to come back if they happen to be revived, and i think that they're both pretty much the same case. Both cases are just having your soul out of your body, depending on how tied are they by your determination and the state of your body. Being determined and having a functional body means you can go back at any time, which makes stands possible. If you lack only determination, you cannot have a Stand, and if it's forced on you, it's like tearing your soul apart. If you lack only a functional body, you only need it to be healed to revive, and if you force it, your body won't really properly receive you as it cannot support you anymore.

So this may be a somewhat stupid question while at the same time a potential idea for a separate video. Admittedly Anubis is my favorite stand, kinda simp for him lol. But im curious if youd consider him an independent stand that has always had his own personality or just gained a consciousness through his users death. If this is a question worth asking, either or this brings up the idea how different are stand identities from their users? Koichi’s Echo seems pretty distinct, while Golden Experience requiem acts exactly like Giorno just hiding it from him. Most important is Death 13, despite being what seems like a controlled stand he often refers to mannish baby as his “stand user,” probably not a big deal but im curious about sentient stands. White Snake appears to have a distinct personality as well from Pucci.

Anubis is a Bound Stand attached to a sword. He is probably acting like Notorious B.I.G. in that he does things due to a very strong motive that keeps him in existence despite his user's death. Lots of Stands have some way of communicating separate from their user. Anubis is just a bit more developed in that way.

Stands with personalitys, like Echoes Act 3 and White Snake, express the "true" feelings of their users, that's why Echoes insults people and why White Snake is so evil, and why the Bullets of Sex Pistols bully Number 5 (who is in reality Number 4). The one Stand that seems to trully have it's own personality is Dragon's Dream, since it's personality come from the concept of Feng Shui and not from his user.

I always enjoy these videos as it helps me better understand the world of Jojo. Such as Hamon's videos on Fate and King Crimson that gave me a better understanding of them as I only used to have a vague idea of what they were. Like yeah, you and I know what a ghost and what fate is. But within Jojo, such things mean something a bit different.

the concept of Stand users are basically normal people who have talent to touch/awoken their own soul. so strong that it can be manifested out is making a perfect sense to me. arrows are made to push that "talent" so they can use manifest their soul. So stands are basically a powerful souls coming out of a talented destined person. And ghost (object, person, ect) are basically stands, but have no powers. stands are just a way to specialize a soul that is so strong it have powets

I still think that Josuke's father simply decided (probably subconsciously) to just pass on. He was a old man who lived a happy life, and even if he died a violent death, he could move on in peace because he knew that Morioh had still a Golden Heart who would right the wrongs of evil.

One idea I have is that a stand can either be somebody who chooses to support a person after their death and take the form of a stand. For example Jotaro’s Star Platinum has a striking look to Johnathan. Maybe he came back to stop Dio. Or it could just be part of the user’s soul put into form separate from the rest of their soul in some cases.

I always saw Yoshihiro as a Stand from a deceased user since he is technically still bound by his ability Atom Heart Father, just now unable to trap anyone else thanks to the fight with Jotaro and Josuke (and possibly the camera being destroyed, my memory is hazy on if Jotaro/Josuke broke the camera after the fight). It does have it's own contradictions like Yoshihiro being able to interact with the world outside of his self portrait such as with his clothing thread and the arrow.

So, if the soul is a proto-stand, does that mean that a human's (or animal's) ghost is actually their old stand? It would explain why Kira's ghost lost access to Killer Queen, because he IS Killer Queen. Also would mean the Stand's shape is the shape of their soul, thus why even similar stands are still somewhat different - because their users are different even if very alike, like Dio/Diego and the two Kiras. But would that make ghost locations related to absorbing the energy of many stand users around? Would a ghost location sorta work like a proto-"blessing of the Earth"? Either way, there may be a relation why two of the three locations we have being related to so many Stand Users, and the third we don't have much info to tell?

He actually is Close to the Truth with it. I wonder If He can Make a jojo in the Ghost World or something Like that. Also he does Ghost who are from heaven but He never did any from Hell. Star Platinum Looks like a jinny/ Gin from Aladdin!!!! I believe He can make a Jojo only in Ghost World. In Japan and in America they believe in Ghost many People and maybe He had a Experience thats why He Likes them to use so much. Also a Jojo in the Stand World would be amazing.

Personally, I think whether or not someone can come back after death has less to do with their resolve, and more to do with their personal wishes. Like it technically DOES have something to do with resolve, but about as much as resisting the temptation to eat a cake even though you know you can and not get caught. For example, in Josuke's grandpa's case, I have a feeling he simply didn't feel like coming back. He felt he led a full life and a second chance would have less meaning than his own death. He seemed like the type who would WANT to pass on. In the case of Okuyasu and Joseph, they both wanted to come back. For Joseph it was likely because he had a whole lot of unfinished business (such as Josuke), and for Okuyasu he was just not ready to pass on yet, he's still a teenager after all and has his whole life ahead of him. In Bruno's case, I think the reason he became a zombie is because he was a walking contradiction: more than ready to, even *expecting* to die over this journey, and yet needing to live long enough to ensure it is successful. As such he only half came back; just enough to complete his mission, and then pass on. My main support for this is the case of Reimi... She was just a normal teenage girl, and yet she was able to remain after death. She couldn't have had THAT strong of a resolve, not yet anyway. Yet she was able to stay (granted, in a limited area, like most ghosts who haunt). I believe if her body was healed like everyone else mentioned here, she too would've come back, but she was never given that chance, hence why she ended up haunting the area she died in. Granted this is all speculation based more on their characters then on the established rules of the series, but it probably makes sense.
@Unhappytimeaper
@Unhappytimeaper Жыл бұрын
Reimi seemed to be more stuck in the case of how most ghost live in the point of resolve for her murder. Much like other ghost media she stayed because of the resentment of being murdered so young creating the limbo state of how she kept going more aligned with ghost stories [which are explored more in the Rohan spin off and in a bonus drama cd for part 4]. Okayasu and Joseph seemed to have the difference of vessels to come back to but with enough resolve to just keep living thus there not being a reason to pass on, while Bruno resolve only made peace to fulfill his promise to Giorno and finish what he had started by promosing to protect Trish [again for Bruno his team/found family was the only thing that mattered for his resolve to protect]. Reimi's case didn't have a body as it wasn't resorted with a stand and then burried making the alley as her 'body' again open only to few people to see. All of this differs from the grandpa because he didn't know he was murdered and you could argue given being a cop assumed he would die in a chance like that because of work. There was no resolve to bring him back because he had no knowledge that it was murder to create that resentment unlike Reimi and to him there was nothing abnormal because he didn't know of stands or what the future would hold to keep him alive.

My idea is that ghost stands, i.e. stands that persist even if their users have died with lingering feelings, usually negative, until killed like Atom Heart Father, or retired or, somewhat immobilised, like Notorious BIG. Works if the user stabs their stand with an arrow, but are killed before it is utilised.

Possible idea for a video. There is one entity in Jojo world that I can't really understand - Stray Cat. As far as I know, it originated from a body of a dead cat (so maybe it's partially ghost?), physically it's some plant-animal hybryd, and maybe has a stand aspect, due to air control ability (although Hayato could see it). Is there any explanation of Stray Cat origins and nature? I couldn't find any.

Hayato could only see stray cat due to him being a physical plant at the end of the day, he can't really see the air bombs and nobody really can except for like Kira when he uses his air as a bomb and even then i don't think Kira can see it, he just aimed in a general direction and hoped for the best.

I have a video idea involving some of the biggest JoJo misconceptions. Maybe try to tell the community the correct spellings of character names. Would you make a video about Feng Shui? Dragons's Dream the stand seems like an evolution of the idea of other supernatural abilities granting stands, and how users may have one but not realize it at first. Because that stand acts in a neutral fashion it implies that the only part of the stand that is unique to its user is the arm rip mechanic. While the main function is universal, like Hammon's breathing. It's up to the individual to master it.
@DeathG64
@DeathG64 2 жыл бұрын
I feel like you missed the detail that Kira was seemingly able to touch the living if he wanted and phasing through them allows them to feel his presence while possibly disrupting his physical shape without focus. Likely because going through a person is trying to use a soul to pass through a soul though in a similar instance he had his 2 limbs still get pushed by a door which wasn't a ghost. They also were making physical contact with things he was passing through at the time they get severed which could explain why they were affected by the door. Still it'd mean ghosts similar to most cases can affect the physical just as much as us but can't kill using force the way the living can. Because energy can't create a physical mass to do permanent damage in spirit/ghost form which is different from fighting spirit. Since Kira shows that he can grab the kid's arm as a ghost but there's no physical damage just a squish meaning he can affect physical things just not to the extent of a stand. Requiring a knife or more to kill his targets meanwhile our only other confirmed non-stand having ghost wasn't exactly a fighter in the first place and was bound as a condition of location. Since if she was looking for her killer and could simply leave the alley she'd find him a lot easier than the main cast of Part 4. Kira also seems to lost his memory of both his deaths in exchange for his time in the alley post-mortem which should be an important addition as it seems to get rid of ambitions when the hands get you just not entirely.

What about Yoshihiro Kira, Kiras dad? His ability of capturing people in poleroids? I assumed to be a stand ability. But that ability is very "ghostly" in nature and I was wondering if this was Yoshihiros stand when he was alive? Or maybe he gained the stand when he died? Although we know he had the stand arrow so i assume he had a stand when he was alive. So maybe the stand was transformed by his death??

If stands are literally peoples fighting spirit or their actual soul, it could explain why ghosts do not have access to their stand. Maybe dying takes away a part of your soul, or lessens your strength to manifest your soul into a seemingly separate object.
