I usually take almost everything. Most of the time if you get extremely good at packing your bag you can fit almost everything you will find. Just a few things like the tackle box, toilet paper, rope, that spool thing or fishing rod that I leave. And also, looting gives you tons of experience which is important as a new player because you want to unlock your plant growing and stuff ASAP and that's locked behind your player level.
