Oh man I sure remember him, placing firecrackers in glued model cars and blowing them up. Haha, also placing himself into the movies he played running from the Monsters. my three brothers and I would watch Ghoulardi and then Houlihan and Big Chuck with the Kielbasa kid, and mush mouth Mariette Pochette and finally Chilli Billy Cardelli from Pittsburg, with Terminal stair. We grew up with some great stuff. One more thing... The Love Boat, Ernie's voice!

Ghoulardi was a part of my youth, every Friday night was incredible with the old horror movies and his antics were so much fun. . .PARMA!!! (plays appropriate polka music)

Oh boy does this bring back memories. Back in the day I was 7, maybe 8. My Dad would come home around 12 from working the afternoon shift at the car factory. My brother and I would get up, and watch Ghoulardi with my Dad late nite. Dad would make some popcorn, and we get to bed way too late to be functional the next day. (The critics were right.) How could I forget. Never been right since.

Goulardi was the absolute best. As a kid it was my favorite show and I watched it all the time. Every kid I know loved Goulardi. The kids today should have a show like that now.

I had rather strict parents but they did let us stay up on Friday and watch Ghoulardi. At least they knew where we were.

I'm 60, and remember being awakened by my older brother or sister, (twins 14years older than me) to sneak me from my crib to watch Ghoulardi. We also listen to Lights Out on the radio.

Me too! In Cleveland, me & my brother and sister would stay up to watch Ghoulardi, I was the youngest, but I loved it! Miss those days…..

Thank you for presenting this, however one of the things I loved about the show that you failed to mention was his music selection. He started every show with Jimmy McGriff’s instrumental, “I’ve Got A Woman”. It was an awesome electric organ tune that instantly drew you in. It motivated me to get into jazz and R & B music that was often performed by African American musicians.

I had a light blue sweatshirt with Ghoulardis face, saying Turn Blue, Stay Sick! I was six? I was in the fan club, got a press kit. I loved the music!!! Surfing Bird! The Cramps covered it, boom boom!!!

I loved growing up in the Cleveland area. It was the coolest city in the country. Goulardi was one that made it that way, then there was Big Chuck and Hoolihan who was also great then Big Chuck and Little John after Hoolihan left. Big Chuck was the Chuck Shadowski that is mentioned in this video. There was another that made Cleveland the coolest about the same time as Goulardi. He was a radio disk jockey that called himself Mad Daddy. He was great but things he said would probably not be allowed on youtube so I better not say the ones I remember.

Enjoyed this overview of the Ghoulardi Years. A few details I did not know, which is rare to a Ghoulardi enthusiast-there’s so little! Just an inconsequential footnote: The 1966 Preseason Doubleheader Exhibition Games were on Friday, August 26 (not Aug 6, a Saturday). It was Redskins vs. Vikings and Colts vs. Browns. (Colts won 24-17).

In '63 I was 12. My whole family (6 kids) made fudge and watched Ghoulardi. His amazing music, humor, blue screening himself or fake sound effects into movies, were awesome! Just genius! The movies were awful, on the order of "Atttack of the crab monsters" and he was brutal in his criticism, which made it even funnier. I am trying to find out what the music playing at 10 minutes remaining though fabulous guitar work.

Wow! I was at that doubleheader and didn't know Ghoulardi was there. I had hoped to see Cleveland Browns draftee, Ernie Davis play in the game. I found out later that Davis had leukemia and that's why he didn't play.

Cool it with the Boom Booms and Turn Blue, you Purple Knif. And remember Bwana Don Day. Somebody complained "When we went there, all we got were some cheap buttons'. To which Ghoulardi replied "Of course they're cheap". Once he was reading off some of the regional high school football scores. As usual Massillon beat somebody by 70 something to nothing. So, Ghoulardi looked into the camera and commented "I don't think the other school was really trying". And of course there were all those pink flamingos in Parma. "PARMA!!". I was in high school then. Fun show.

I am born in July 16th 1996, so I have no idea! My parents were born in the summer of 1978, so they were not here! My grandparents were 16 when he came on, and my great grandparents were 38, in 1962( still with me !) Great grandparents and grandparents tell me: you missed a lot ! I believe them!

Arby's had Ghoulardi hot chocolate for a promotion and he said "Drink it while it's hot(so you can't taste how bad it is)!" People bought it for the cup with his picture on it(if I remember correctly).

The Gouhl or Big Chuck and Hullihan was the only late night entertainment until SNL.And you had to have pretty good reception in Port Clinton,Oh. or weather.Before Cable Ya know!
