Ghriba Bahla is a staple cookie in Moroccan cuisine, simple and delicious, like a cookie should be!

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups (400 grams) all-purpose white flour
1/4 cup (35 grams) roasted sesame seeds (whole)
1/4 cup (35 grams) roasted sesame seeds (ground)
1/2 cup and 2 tablespoons (150 ml) vegetable oil
1/2 cup and 2 tablespoons (150 ml) melted butter
3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar
Pinch of salt
Large pinch of ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
400 grams all-purpose white flour
35 grams roasted sesame seeds (whole)
35 grams roasted sesame seeds (ground)
150 ml vegetable oil
150 ml melted butter
150 grams granulated white sugar
Pinch of salt
Large pinch of ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

This is my favourite cookie!!! I love eating them when I'm in Morocco. Their consistency is very unique because they are soft and a little bit crumbly at the same time. Also their taste is very good. They are just scrumptious!

I tried these. They were delicious made with ground peanuts had a lovely buttery taste. Great with a glass of milk.

I must try Ghriba with sesame seeds. Thanks for sharing, Fatima & Alia. Amazing, Fatima lives since 22years in Japan. InshaAllah I will travel to Japan & Korea once in my life. I didn't know that you, Alia, moved to South Korea. Years ago I tried to learn Japanese but I give up, it was too difficult for me. :( But the street and friends are the best teachers to learn a new language. I wish you all the best in South Korea! And yes, Kimchi is delicious! But also Bibimbap, Bulgogi and Kimbap.

In my little town in South Texas, we are fortunate to have a very nice Korean restaurant where I go almost once a week. Aside from there, the dining choices ae very dismal - unless one is addicted to fast food franchises, etc.

Hey Alia!! This looks so good! But one thing, I think Fatima was more comfortable speaking in Arabic cause in the beginning she didn't seem relaxed and it showed on her face!! Why not start by speaking Arabic with her? it makes no difference, in fact her amazing personality will radiate that way. Love all the way from Lebanon :)

Thank you very much for the recipe. It was delicious...but the only problem that i had it became like cookies too large and hard not really soft like the used bahla. Do you know why ? It will help me very much if yu answer .

Is ground roasted sesame the same as tahini?

Yes. You can get tahini made from roasted sesame seeds and also tahini made from non-roasted sesame. The first is obviously darker (brownish) and the latter lighter (beige). I am aware I am giving this information 6 years after your question and that you will have found the answer long ago but am writing this for the benefit of future readers.
