This song brings back memories. I first sang the descant for this when I was 12 yrs old, and I was not the type to sing alone or bring attention to myself. Everyone was surprised that I volunteered, and when I got up to sing it before a crowd, my whole body was trembling. But I got through it, and the crowd roared at the end! It was my first break through my shell, and I'll always remember this melody. Thank you, Don Besig, for this breath-taking, inspiring piece.

A beautiful song. We have it in "Sing Your Faith" (the new British Unitarian hymn book). I first heard it at Chowbent Chapel on Sunday in our Songs of Praise service and immediately fell in love with it. I could feel myself choking back the tears as I sang. I have many hymns that have been my favourite at some point or another, but the words speak to me more than any other and with such a beautiful melody, too. i did this song with my school choir...well many times...it's a choir favourite.... it;s always a case of what shall we sing for open evening/concert? (about two weeks before :P) 'FLYING FREE!!' this is a really good recording of it...i really like it with the violin part...i've only ever heard that bit played by a flute and i'm hard pressed to say which i prefer as the violin sounds great on it!!

I used to have this CD long long time ago. And the CD was lost also long long time ago. Some of the junior choir members singing the song are now managing director in legal department for some well known international investment bank. And if I can remember correctly, Ms Charlie Young should also be one of the junior choir members when the song was being recorded. The CD was released sometimes in 1988 and could be purchased by Good Hope School Students only at that time for the Night of Good Hope Event. I wish I could join the choir at that time but my best friend always discourage me to do so by singing very ugly and loudly when we were doing the choir audition so I never had a chance to join.
