@@ActionRobotPunch the scrag-end of Transformers had quite a lot of re-use for other brands, at least in Japan with the Brave line. G2 Megatron was a 92 release, and the Panther was 1995, and it looks like a budget toy (Lots of easy molding), it was probably the cheaper option to just take the cannon from there, free up some cash for Day-glo paints somewhere else!

Funny thing is I have owned that Megatron sonce it came out. They had a crossover of transformers and GIJoe in the comics in the 90's. Cobra rebuilt Megatron's body into that tank in trade for cybertronian technology, with cobra's new rail gun cannon as Megatron's main interest to replace his usual firepower. So I have this Megatron with my Cobra forces because of that story. I think it's funny you built a sci-fi railgun, while in the comics that is exactly what Megatron's tank cannon is, and in the xomics megatron in tank mode shows just how easily it destroys hiss tanks. That I can easily imagine cobra using it in future tanks. Which I think I'll try and get a iron panther in the future fir that very reason. Tanks for sharing.

Awesome video..I recently discovered this tank was supposed to be part of the 1995 Battle Corps Rangers line, and I find it fascinating. It's too bad they skimped out on making a proper drivers section for the interior of the turret. I wonder how hard that would be to 3D print..
@ActionRobotPunch2 жыл бұрын
There actually is an interior! I was shocked but if you take the tank apart there are screens and controls inside the turret. But there's no way to get to them or seats to put figures in. It almost seems like they had a plan to allow the turret to lift off or open more. I like the idea of 3d printing an interior. Thanks for watching.
@jasone7532 Жыл бұрын
Great minds... play with the same toys? I bought about six to eight of these. Mostly incomplete. I love the oft-lost tools (sledge hammer and shovel I think) that fit on the back. I am also missing a lot of antennas. I hadn't realized that the cannon was recycled from G2 Megatron. (Maybe we can pretend this was a technical advancement of Cobra's 1993 run-in with Megatron and Dr Biggles- Jones.) That's very interesting and would make sense that it was designed for ARAH. The lack of the interior inlay cup that would screw down in unison with the turret is the main thing I always felt was missing. There would be throttles and monitors similar to the Maggot rear pieces. I also think the side doors would have been a translucent plastic 'window' to see driver details inside. An LED light would be great. If you offer the rail gun in your Etsy shop, I'll have to find a couple more. It also could use an angular piece of armor to scoop from the front. I have been adapting the Sgt Savage figures as Joe's and they don't look too far out of place. The heads, while bigger, yes, do fit right in certain torsos. I'll have to put the photos of my own experiments out there...

@ActionRobotPunch2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Beach. That’s a really good idea. There’s another KZbinr who makes really cool papercraft HISS variants removing the entire back area. Really imaginative and talented. But a turret insert that could be 3d printed could be really fun and easy to install. Just pop the turret “cup” out and replace. I’ve really enjoyed making the turret for my AML 90 and I think I can use some lessons I’ve learned. I was planning to work on my Tomahawk next but I think you’ve set me on a new course. Yes! the Panther tank is my favorite enemy tank for Cobra, it has that weird intimidating shape and it goes really well with the HISS aesthetically. But what surprised me the most was the amazing console detail in the interior! I mean the turret could just be an empty hollow piece but I guess someone had a bit of fun doing the mold because it has these screens and controls and details, they would look really cool if painted although they would remain hidden because you can't actually see or access it from outside so it is a weird but fun detail. Only reachable when you dissassemble the turret. Maybe if it had an easy way to dismount the top... The top of the hull has some intricate molded details too, like engine parts or maybe those are part of the turning mechanism, who knows? You decide in your imagination. It is visible when you turn the turret so maybe too vulnerable? Another reason Cobra Commander complains to Destro maybe. Too expensive now thats crazy, I got one MISB for like $50 couple years back. I hope Mauler guy does an RC version someday, that would be really cool. Great design on the rail gun. As always I'm left impressed by your skills and imagination. Keep going and thanks for sharing.

yesssssss, that will do nisssscely! excellent work! ha, ha! yeah, we can get quite creative with the Joes in concepts! it can also work both ways, a US prototype that gi Joe must defend. I built a universe in Lego that one faction had tanks. built my very own design of course, there is 'ettiquette' in the community. but the most creative I was happy about was A.I. for scripts. the tanks were all autonomous. some had guys only in the turret, only for observation. it only was possible to take over control by HQ, ha, ha! this kind of remind me of that concept. also a machine in 6 million dollar man, Steve Austin. autonomous, it was designed to roam the moon. it was perhaps 5 years after the real landings so.... another cool part is the base, since it s real Hasbro - kinda Joe type. with attention, being creative, a good scale, some time and tools, one can crank nice things. a 3d printer is the ace in the base for such projects. the rest of the scene [I love dios] is quite nice. a few units to get into the 'ambiance' with flair, ha, ha! good work bro!

@ActionRobotPunch10 ай бұрын
If we use some of the current test platforms that are out there. But this is constructed for Cobra by MARS probably. They'd have reduced the size by getting rid of redundancies and safeguards and also iteration on the design. This isn't a converted ship based system. The tank was built around this unit. So I think it's very feasible. And I love having conversations like this :) Thanks for watching and the comment.
