I echo everything commented so far. Loved you reaction, thank you. I also strongly suggest 'Roundabout' as a must listen next. Then let us guide you through the Yes catalogue. It really is an experience that needs to unfold in a certain order to truly appreciate their talent and creativity. You will not be disappointed. As a musician, it's worth the investment in time. 😊

Changes is interesting for a first Yes reaction, recommendations usually go back to their early 70s' material. 90125 was a favorite album of mine in the early 80s'. Guitarist Trevor Rabin had excellent guitar parts, Rabin took guitar duties on the album while Yes legend Steve Howe was away. Heart of the Sunrise, studio version, is representative of their earlier period. The Yes catalog has many gems.

An interesting selection for your first YES reaction. There are a lot more great songs on that album and Big Generator which were produced in the 80s. You should try classic YES's Roundabout next. You'll be amazed. From there you can explore a gold mine of YES songs that will blow you away.

It is interesting that you are a punk musician, listening to and enjoying Yes, a progressive rock band. Punk rock came on the scene in the mid/late 70s partially as a rebellion to the perceived excesses of prog.

Changes is indeed interesting as your first listen to Yes. This album propelled Yes to the mainstream in the 1980s. The band went through a lot of "changes" both in band membership - but also musical styles. Another favorite song of mine from this album, besides this song "Changes" - is "Our Song" - and then explore Yes albums from the 1970s - especially Going for the One, Close to the Edge, Fragile... > A side note, there's a band that from Spain that was active and got famous in the 1980s to 1990s - called El último de la fila" - Have you heard of them? Manolo García has a great voice and it's a very colorful, and a little edgy and bouncy and fun - with very rich lyrics (en español). Being as you are an Italian punk rocker getting into Yes, I thought you might like to check out El último de la fila. "No me acostumbro" is a song I'm thinking of - for you to "comprobar"...

It's interesting that one song from this album was suggested to you as your "first contact" with the band. It is difficult to speak of "typical" Yes albums because the band has undergone many line-up and stylistic changes over the years (by the way, they have only just released a new album), but "90125" is one of the most controversial and "atypical" "Albums from them. I was always happy to go along with the changes in the band, because the result was always good music. If I had to name a typical song by Yes, I would probably get the least contradiction if I said "Close To The Edge" (preferably live, from the album YESSONGS).

This song is from their 80’s “commercial” era but they’re best known for the “classic” 70’s epics.. Their most famous song is ROUNDABOUT with a now famous rock bassline which has also recently been used in a well known meme which you may have unknowingly heard. Roundabout, Siberian Khatru and Parallels are the next Yes songs you should listen to please.

This is a great album, but it's 80's Yes when they reformed with Trevor Rabin, etc. Trevor sings lead on this one, but Jon Anderson is their real lead singer (with the high voice). The 80's stuff is very commercial high quality stuff, but the 70's are the best/most consistent Yes, real prog. Try Roundabout next, then if you really want your mind blown out of your head, go to anything from Close To The Edge, Relayer, Going For The One, Starship trooper - live, Yours Is No Disgrace Live, I've Seen All Good People.
