it's essentially super fast growing lumber, with excellent structural properties, kinda similiar to fiber glass composites. furniture, houses, all sorts of utensils and tools, to paper and textiles

RE: all the comments on the chainsaw size and how he is using it: You don't need the largest tool in the world to get the job done efficiently, effectively and satisfactorily. As large as this bamboo grew, he was able to cut it down using the tool he has. Until you have tried to cut bamboo, you have no idea how tough it is to cut. Sometimes, smaller is better. P.S. Quick kitchen tip for Thanksgiving: You don't need a 40" chainsaw to carve a turkey either.
What is the diameter of the base, does it reach up to 10 inches? or 250mm?

I finally found some seeds for D. Sinicus and D. Giganteus and have specimens growing in S.W. Florida U.S.A. As far as I can tell I'm one of the first people to have it in the USA. I got my seeds in Aug of 2019.

@TheDave5709 жыл бұрын

Must be ecovariant? Or possibly great growing conditions? D. asper doesnt get this big very often... I wonder if those vegetative cuttings would get as big elsewhere in the humid tropics biome?

@@voiceoftheearth7091 the key is water, bamboo plant doesn't need rich nutrient soil but it need so much water specially giant species like this. it even have it own unique mechanism to avoid losing to much water, the leaf fold in day light to minimalize direct contact with sunlight. i think this is why this species only found in tropical where rain water is abundant. i see in other video someone plant it in the u.s and he said he has to hose them atleat 5 times a week

That chain saw is really dull.probably from cutting as close to the ground as possible and dirt and rock dust dulling the blade.the saw should breeze through that bamboo.that really amazing bamboo
@uknowatsit10 жыл бұрын
It is not dull, the operator is dull. Thais love to play the throttle and make lots of noise. He also was just slashing away with little plan for the binding stress on the top of the log. I have cut lots of bamboo and it is a little more tricky than normal log as it splits very easily and is razor sharp on the edges. Also take note that it is completely solid for the first meter or so off the ground and very wet (Heavy) in this area.
@crazy808ish9 жыл бұрын
+uknowatsit Actually no, the chainsaw is dull. Bamboo is extremely high in silica, so it's very hard on any blade, especially chainsaws.

In Thailand you have to have a license for your chainsaw, but I haven't got any idea how a guy gets one.
@edletts22196 жыл бұрын
In Thailand you have to have some sort of license for your chainsaw. That's what people tell me. That's so if a bunch of wild teak trees are poached the cops will have a list of names in the neighborhood to check to see if there are some nice logs in someone's backyard. Even if you grow teak trees on your own acreage, you have to get special permission to cut them down.

I would love to grow some of that bamboo, that is beautiful, you could make great geodesic domes with this, nice chairs and swing chairs also people, your so lucky to have a nice gift like this growing wild everywhere, wish I lived there.
Still ms180 or 190 , or close guess. The little arborist saws have a unique advantage with .043 gauge chains. Have seen them match much larger saws cutting red oak in quickness. As this looks like a 14inch, chain will go duller quicker and running hard with burn piston and rings. Never cut bamboo, but the guy is the safety concerns here. Few plastic wedges and safety ropes and equip would help save legs.

Hello Nanbamboo Thailand, I would like to know how many years it takes for this species of bamboo shoot to grow that large?
@rhigel22697 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, this species may take several years for a new colony to produce large individuals in the colony. To answer your question, once a new shoot emerges from the ground, it should mature in 60 days to it's height and diameter. It may take up to 40 years before flowering, seeding, then followed by dying.

If it is like most bamboo, probably a few days to a couple weeks. Seriously, most bamboo grows super fast and spreads like crazy.
