The MoonFlower is an amazing addition to any summer garden. Its giant blooms that just keep coming night after night with their amazing fragrance will make any evening a delight. Datura has blooms that measure 6-8 inches in length. The overall plant will grow three to four feet high and spread out 4 to 6 feet. Plant it near a seating area were you can enjoy its full splendor with friends and family. Plants that are more mature will produce more blooms. Zone requirements are 7b or warmer and the plant prefers full sun and is draught tolerant. Our moonflower is in partial sun and doing great. This plant is not picky when it comes to soil but humus rich loam is recommended.

I have mine in pots in Montana they are prolific - love them. Didn’t know it could come indoors. Start mine from seeds each spring.

I bought seeds today to give this plant a try at growing....i live in zone 7b which is TN and it's already hot and humid here though we had a wet late spring this year Any particular type of soil this plant prefers? Does it have long tap roots like a poppy? I dig my flower beds very deep and my growing medium is rich black crumbly soil that used to be rabbit manure about 15 years ago....i mix that with sand and a bit of peat moss for some moisture retention and so far that has worked well for everything from iris to angel trumpets....

Thank you for your questions. Your amendments sound excellent. Feeding and fluffing the soil. I have found in my yard; I can put this plant anywhere(clayish soil or amended soil) and it will survive, but that is not the same as thriving. It does best in amended soil, however you choose to do this. I mulched with leaves and triple shredded mulch most years, but have even used the free wood chips from the city's "chip drop" program. The tap root is fairly long, which helps it to be drought tolerant, but does better with a drink of water, when thinks start to get really dry(don't we all). The one thing this plant hates is to be moved, so put it where you want it to be permanently. If you have to move it; keep as much soil intact around the roots and do this when your area is going to get a nice 2-3 day soaking rain. Hope this helps.

@@korestone8236 thank you and yes it does...ill dig some holes down about 18 inches to give the roots room....i had clay soil too when I moved here in 05 but I've spent countless hours digging trenches and refilling them with better quality dirt....what I had would barely even grow weeds....
