It WAS so much better, but at the same time it's almost impossible to imagine it happening now. No company would set an operation like Giant Bomb up in a large office in the center of San Francisco or New York and a pay a whole staff to commute in every day to play video games. This sort of content can be produced from people's bedrooms (and that's basically what Giant Bomb became). It inevitably won't be as good and you'll miss out on all the awesome in-person interactions we got back in the day, but it'll also cost a fraction of a fraction as much to produce. It's honestly wild to look back at CBS bankrolling this stuff. Jeff capitalized on a perfect moment in time between gaming going fully mainstream in the Wii era and the average person's live streaming abilities becoming "good enough" to make a setup like this obsolete. I feel privileged to have been there to experience it. We probably won't see the like of (this, real) Giant Bomb ever again.

And I hate saying that because Giant Bomb brought me years of entertainment! For a while it was easily one of my go-to places on the internet. Also, Inca People will never not be a classic.
@InternetSlumlord Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say really. There's people who are obviously still interested in current GB, but I'm not sure if that's enough for a company to keep it going.
@RandomShinigami7 Жыл бұрын
@@InternetSlumlord Oh I didn't mean for this to be an attack on the current crew. They're fine, I don't have a problem with them. To me Giant Bomb just doesn't feel anywhere near the same as it did back then. It doesn't have that same sense of comradery that it used to have. Giant Bomb, back in 2009 - 2020, genuinely felt like friends who just happened to work together. Giant Bomb now, while perfectly fine, just feels like every other video game centered KZbin show. So if they're not doing anything interesting, if they're just doing the same song and dance as everyone else is, eventually people are going to look elsewhere. Those numbers are going to drop, and once they do, 3 guesses as to what will happen.
@Pendarr10 ай бұрын
@@RandomShinigami7They should just rebrand the group as Ryckertnomics or something, it doesn't feel like the same company in any way.

If GB does shut down, those who are still there will just fan out and do their own streaming stuff, unless they want to pivot to something else. Just like those who have already left. Thankfully, it's so inexpensive to create video content about gaming now.
@Kazzerscout7 ай бұрын
@@RandomShinigami7 The numbers have already dropped a huge amount. Before 2020 you'd regularly see 1000+ people in the GB chat for UPF, that's with no cross streaming to Twitch or KZbin as it was premium only. Now they do cross stream and often get less than 200 on the GB site.
